Lot 703

A very well-engineered, rarely used, and faithful recreation of the legendary GT40 in a fetching colour combination. The GT40 has its rightful spot in the car world Hall of Fame for its stunning and world shocking results by winning the 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969 Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance race, toppling the seemingly unstoppable racing giant that was Ferrari. With race winning and period raced GT40s comfortably selling for mid-7 figure sums, with plenty of potential to reach 8 figures soon, it is no surprise that such a vast array of replicas, tributes and homages to this iconic racer have sprung up.MDA was one of the finest replica GT40 builders in Europe, starting off as G T Developments during the 80s, building over 380 cars for clients between 1988-1994 before transitioning into MDA in 1994. With a growing customer list wanting individual car builds with differing specifications and increasing levels of accuracy required, MDA hit every marker with a level of confidence that can only come from experience. Unfortunately, despite their successes, they were still a small business which fell foul of the 2008 recession and closed its doors for good, now supplying GT40 parts under the name of G T Racing. Before they closed, this fantastic Mk1 GT40 replica was already out the door and well on its way to completion. Registered with its first and only registered owner on 1st March 2012, the white paint contrasts well with the red striping giving the ‘beauty’ side to the car and a thumping Ford small block 302cu (5-litre) Windsor V8 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission providing the ‘beast’. The car has been thoroughly enjoyed since its completion, having taken part in classic car shows and local rallies within the UK, however it has only covered 6,017 miles from new having spent its recent years on display in a museum.A lot of replicas can look and feel cheap, but we are pleased to say this MDA GT40 has quite the opposite effect. Looking at the braided lines within the engine bay, the Hi-Spec motorsport braking system and extravagant exhaust, you can clearly see that a significant amount of money was spent on this car to ensure the driving experience was as jaw dropping as the visual experience.Despite being on display, the car was always kept in running and driving condition. Furthermore, it will come to the sale having received a mechanical once-over to instil maximum confidence to the buyer. Within the history file there is a build manual, photographs and a selection of invoices for servicing and maintenance over the years.Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and whilst this is usually a glorified way of saying something has been copied, in this case one would argue that for the looks and sounds of a GT40 for 100 times less than the real deal, it's a fair compromise. Reasonably priced, low mileage and very well built, what more could you ask for?SpecificationMake: MDAModel: GT40Year: 2012Chassis Number: MDAGT40MK1A171204Registration Number: V50 MDATransmission: ManualEngine Number: 018EZ3T11031398D13Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 5989 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 771

A two-owner, low mileage DMC-12 garage find in need of recommissioning. An exciting opportunity.Whilst the term “iconic” is conferred frequently and often without merit, we are just and correct in bestowing the title on the DeLorean DMC-12. Instantly recognisable it was the brainchild of ex-General Motors executive John DeLorean, perhaps one of the most controversial motor industry figures of all time. The Belfast based factory was established with £100 million of funding from the British Government under an agreement forged by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher with the support of US President Ronald Regan in order to help the Northern Irish economy suffering from decades of sectarian violence. The DeLorean Motor Company story is a unique entry in the annals of the motor car industry and the DMC-12 is one of the most recognisable cars of the 20th century.Launched in 1981, the DMC-12’s stylish coupé bodywork attracted international attention by virtue of its method of construction, a combination of fibreglass inner panels, a stainless-steel outer skin and innovative gull-wing doors. The underpinnings were engineered under the guidance of Lotus founder, Colin Chapman. Competing with Porsche and Ferrari, sales never approached projected levels and DeLorean's 1982 indictment on drugs charges (he was subsequently acquitted), brought the project to its knees. The DeLorean is now seen as highly collectable, thanks in no small part to the 'Back to the Future' movie series, and manual examples are very sought after. On offer here is a two-owner car with just over 17,500 miles and is a very interesting garage find, having not moved or been started in over 20 years. Bought by its first owner, who was a doctor based in Florida, some 11,000 miles were covered by him before he sold it to its second owner, our vendor, who shipped it to the UK in the early nineties. He enjoyed it for the following 10 years, covering around 6,000 miles in that time. The DeLorean was then put into his garage 20 years ago due to a house move and it has not moved or been started ever since. The intention was always to recommission the car but the owner sadly never got round to it and, due to ill health, it's now being offered by the family to the market for the first time in over 30 years. It’s clear that there were intentions to recommission the car in recent years as it has had a new battery, new tyres, flexi-hoses fitted to the brakes and some hydraulic parts for the clutch had been sourced. This left-hand drive, manual transmission example is showing just over 17,000 miles in the hands of its two owners. The Cherished Registration Number, ‘OUT 703’, pleasingly accompanies the car along with an owner’s handbook, V5C, spare wheel and a jack. Sold strictly as seen, this is a very rare opportunity to bring back to life a low ownership, low mileage example of a type of car that continues to gain momentum in the collector's car market on both sides of the Atlantic.SpecificationMake: DELOREANModel: DMC-12Year: 1981Chassis Number: SCE0T26T2BD000473Registration Number: OUT 703Transmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 17528 MilesClick here for more details and images

Harry Metcalfe would like us to find a home for his XJ 5.3C, mechanically good but in need of a little TLC.The Coupé incarnation of Jaguar's ground-breaking XJ saloon didn't peek from showrooms until 1975, although it had been announced publicly rather earlier, back at the 1973 London Show. Its original design dated from even earlier still as it was developed alongside the original Series 1 XJ back in the late 60s and in fact the company even issued project numbers for the Series 1 Coupés - XJ33 for the six-cylinder and XJ34 for the V12- although they were destined never to be produced. Instead, the car was launched in Series 2 form known as XJ35 and XJ36 respectively. However, a combination of Sir William Lyons' frequent tweaking of the design and engineering 'issues' with the roof panel and side windows, meant that it was early 1975 before the first XJ-Cs would glide stylishly out of Jaguar Showrooms. The Coupé was based on the short wheelbase version of the XJ and offered in 4.2 and 5.3 engine sizes known as either the Sovereign from Jaguar or the Double Six from Daimler. In 1978, just 329 Jaguar XJ12 5.3 Coupés were built by the factory making this particular car a very rare production model. In fact, only 1,800 were ever made by the factory in total. The XJ 5.3C in question here has formed part of the well-known Private collection of Silverstone Auctions' great friend, Harry Metcalfe, since 2014. It’s a rare 1978 right-hand drive, automatic transmission example which Harry purchased originally with the intention of restoring it but then spotted the manual XJ-C that he’s recently restored instead (as you’ll see on his famous YouTube channel). Consequently, this rare Coupé is now surplus to requirements. Before Harry bought it, the previous owner commissioned a substantial amount of work to the mechanical aspects of the car by Alan Lloyd Motors, investing over £10,000 at the time, all detailed in the accompanying history file. This classic Jaguar offers lots of potential but the bodywork does need a little TLC and consequently, we encourage all interested parties to come to the NEC and satisfy themselves as to what might need to be done.Excitingly, this rare Jaguar is to be offered for sale at No Reserve allowing it to find its own level. This is an excellent opportunity to either use and enjoy this elegant 70s V12 Coupé as it is, or further invest in bodywork and cosmetics to take it to the next level.   SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XJ CYear: 1978Chassis Number: 2G1416BWRegistration Number: XDX 810STransmission: AutomaticDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

Lot 655

A rare, emerging modern-classic Alpina D3 with manual transmission and low ownership, in lovely, original condition with less than 4,000 miles from new.Essentially, Alpina took the already superb E90 platform from BMW and added some special Alpina touches resulting in more focused, diesel sports saloon with a unique appearance and exclusivity for owners. Styling features included larger Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels, a front air-dam and rear spoiler, revised cloth seat inserts, Alpina dials, floor mats and a plaque with the car's build number reminding passengers they are onboard something rather special. Performance upgrades included tuned suspension, re-mapped ECU, larger Turbo and intercooler and improved fuel injection resulting in just under 200bhp and just over 300lb/ft of torque, rather impressive from a 2.0-litre oil burner.Offered here is a beautiful 2008 Alpina D3 with just 3,555 miles from new and only one previous keeper. It was supplied new to the UK in right-hand drive and first registered in February 2008 specified in Graphite Metallic with manual transmission. The condition of this Alpina can only be described as remarkable and our vendor informs us that, to the very best of his knowledge (he purchased the car in 2020) all panels are original with factory paintwork. The interior also shows no indication of wear with nicely preserved Alpina trim and original Alpina mats. The D3 has only been used in fine weather conditions, dry stored correctly and, with such low mileage, must be one of the best remaining examples in existence.Although lightly used over the years, the car is accompanied by a comprehensive service record with its original book pack including service book stamped up-to-date by BMW workshops and independent specialists. MOT Certificates from every relevant year corroborate the mileage from new and the current MOT is valid until 28th September 2023.In summary, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a real emerging classic from a point in time when performance diesel automobiles were beginning to dominate endurance racing including Le Mans. A delightful, collector-quality Alpina with unquestionable provenance, concours potential and guaranteed to attract the right attention at any car show.SpecificationMake: BMWModel: D3Year: 2008Chassis Number: WAPD320007XL10607Registration Number: FJ57 CVGTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 3555 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Half Black Leather and Alpina ClothClick here for more details and images

Lot 624

Very late production 20-valve RR and believed to be the penultimate Quattro delivered to the UK.The Audi Quattro may not have been the first four-wheel drive production car (that honour belongs to the 1966 Jensen Interceptor FF), but its place in history is assured. Thanks in no small part to its enormous rallying success, the Quattro popularized all-wheel drive, and is now regarded as one of the most influential and important sports cars of the 1980s. The brainchild of Jorg Bensinger, an Audi chassis engineer, development work was started in 1977 and, three years later the finished product was released. Although the floor pan had much in common with the Audi 80 and the running gear was largely taken from an Audi 200, the Quattro used a manual centre differential lock (operated by levers next to the handbrake) to govern the 197bhp and 210lb/ft power outputs delivered by the 2.1-litre in-line five-cylinder turbocharged engine. By the time this particular car arrived in 1990, the crude cable-operated 50:50 split differential had been replaced with a much more advanced Torsen (torque sensing) diff and the engine had been uprated with double overhead camshafts and a larger 2,226cc capacity, upping power to 217bhp.Offered here is a very late production car and, indeed, it's believed to be the penultimate 20V Quattro delivered to the UK. First registered here on 17th January 1992, this lovely Quattro is superbly presented in Titan Grey with a mid-grey, half-leather interior and is one of only 295 right-hand drive examples. The Quattro has an indicated mileage of 95,821 at the time of cataloguing. During the current ownership, the Audi has been diligently maintained including an investment of over £3,000 with Audi and VW specialists, AM Cars, in March of this year, the full details of which are in the car's history file. The vendor has also recently fitted a Blaupunkt Bremen radio and the current MOT is valid until 13th June 2023. The history file is good and includes service records, detailed information of the car's life including an engine rebuild and a set of manuals. The value of 20-valve Quattros has been increasing exponentially and this super example appears attractively guided given its condition, sensible mileage, good history and the fact that it's one of the very last of these remarkable cars to arrive in the UK. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate this very special Audi.SpecificationMake: AUDIModel: QUATTROYear: 1992Chassis Number: WAUZZZ85ZMA000252Registration Number: J680 SFATransmission: ManualEngine Number: RR001954 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 95821 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 635

A superbly restored, matching numbers example of arguably the first 'Fast Ford' that was to inspire Carol Shelby's GT350.Some say that the Ford Mustang created its own industry sector by offering an affordable sports car for the daily commute, performance to raise a smile when in the mood and enough space for the family when required. That may well have been the case, however, it mattered not as the Mustang became a worldwide success story. The second of two models, the Coupe was marketed as the hardtop version of the convertible, and is today known as the 'Notchback'. The sportier-looking Fastback Coupe was launched in early 1965, clearly defining the Mustang range and was the genesis for the line of performance Mustangs that followed. An early example of those hot (well warm) Mustangs from the production line was the 289 High Performance (Hi-Po) which was later to form the basis for Carroll Shelby's legendary GT350.Records show that just 466 1965 K-Code cars were built at Ford's Dearborn factory, many destined for Shelby's Los Angeles workshops. The example offered here is a February 19th 1965 registered Ford Mustang K-code Hi-Po refinished to the most exacting standards. It's possibly the finest early correct example available worldwide and all tuned Mustangs, even today, can trace their DNA back to this car. Purchased by our UK vendor three years ago in the United States, the restoration was carried out by the renowned Mustang expert and MCA judge, Denis Frances, of Danville Virginia. It was subject to a bare-metal, rotisserie restoration with the unusual brief to present the car exactly as it would have left the factory complete with factory overspray detail and crayon marks. Finished in Caspian Blue and with a black interior and Carlite factory tinted glass, it is totally faithful to the original specification and retains its original door plate. Its original V8 289 Hi-Po engine was rebuilt at the same time as the restoration at a cost of $7,000 by a top US engine builder. The 4-speed. "top-loader' manual gearbox was also rebuilt at the time and the full specification includes black Decor seats, 9-inch differential, front discs with dual master cylinder, date-correct seat belts, correct steel wheels and reproduced Arvinode exhausts. This Mustang really is as good as it gets, and with just 300 miles since the restoration it caught the eye of our vendor on a plinth at the Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show in 2014. In more recent years, it has been rightly displayed on the 'Pride of Ownership' stand and the vendor has covered some 1,200 miles in the car since. Our vendor has subsequently added a spare wheel with cover, fitted a period correct radio with modern electrics, prop-shaft seals and a passenger side window regulator, with the works carried out by noted specialist Bill Shepherd Mustang at a cost of £2,358.Presented to auction with a history file that includes recent receipts, V5C, owners manuals, a book entitled 'The 289 Mustang High Performance Mustang Story'  and an odometer reading of 20,987 miles at the time of cataloguing.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: MUSTANGYear: 1965Chassis Number: 5F09K640857Registration Number: FNA 392CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 640857 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 20987 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

One owner from new, 11,618 miles and as near perfect as you could ever hope to find. The legendary Honda NSX (standing for New Sportscar Experimental) was developed by the Honda Motor Corporation between 1984 and its eventual launch in 1990, with major chassis and suspension input from three-times F1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna. It featured an all-aluminium monocoque body, encompassing a revolutionary extruded aluminium-alloy frame and suspension making the car extremely light and very strong. Power was provided by a state-of-the-art, 3.0-litre, 24-valve, V6 'VTEC' engine (variable valve timing) which, despite being developed during F1's turbo-era, was normally aspirated. The free-revving, all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168mph and a 0-60 time of less than 6.0 seconds. Those performance figures put the NSX on a par with Ferrari's 348 GTB, but in terms of comfort, ergonomics, driving dynamics and build quality, the NSX was in a different league entirely. Other game-changing features included 4-channel ABS brakes, Titanium connecting rods and, later in the model's life, an electric power steering system as well as an upgrade to 3.2-litres. The car was the first real Japanese 'supercar', proving itself and quickly establishing respect from its key competitors. However, this superiority was not translated into sales and, by the time production ceased in 2005, fewer than 20,000 had been sold making them relatively rare and much sought-after today.Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this stunning Honda NSX finished in Formula Red with a manual gearbox and non-assisted steering, exactly the same specification as Ayrton Senna's own road car, so familiar from the well known image of him washing it outside his Portuguese villa in 1992. J15 NSX was collected new by its one and only owner from Honda Dealer, Windmill Hill in Swindon on 31st January 1992 and since then has travelled a very cossetted 11,618 miles. The car is accompanied by an impeccable history file listing every MOT and detailing every service at the correct intervals, the most recent of which included a cambelt change. The overall condition of this beautiful NSX can only be described as straight from the 1992 International Motor Show Stand with the exception of its original Bridgestone tyres which naturally have been replaced but which do come with the car for those seeking 100% originality. Testament to the quality of the exotic metals used in the building of these masterpieces is that the underneath still looks factory, fresh today. It's supplied with both keys, all service books, the original purchase invoice and, as new, dealer mats. This 1992 Honda NSX is as correct and as perfect as you will ever find and to drive one still makes you question where some supercar manufacturers have been for the last 30 years, a truly exceptional example. SpecificationMake: HONDAModel: NSXYear: 1992Chassis Number: JHMNA11500T000990Registration Number: J15 NSXTransmission: ManualEngine Number: C30A3-1000795 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 11600 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 740

The desirable 3.8-litre 'S' model with 355bhp, sports suspension, upgraded braking and a sports exhaust. Full Porsche service history plus top-bearing replacement. The 997 marked another new chapter for Porsche, although to look at, the new generation seemed to hark back to former glories, particular in profile and the design of its oval headlights. The 997 was initially available from July 2004 in two guises, Carrera and Carrera S, both rear-wheel drive only with identical bodywork. The base Carrera stuck with the well established 3.6-litre power unit producing 325bhp, however, the Carrera S had useful extra power – some 355bhp – thanks to a larger displacement engine (3 litres). Other general 997 enhancements included better suspension, reduced drag-coefficient, a more appealing interior and extra room for passengers. The Carrera S also benefited from a sports exhaust, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), bigger brakes, 19” wheels as standard and Xenon headlights with red brake callipers the only external clue. The car presented here is a 2005 Porsche 911 (997) 3.8-litre Carrera S specified with the ‘drivers’ choice’ of the manual 6-speed (G97/01) gearbox (which was reinforced by Porsche for the ‘S’ model). It has a full Porsche service history, the most recent of which was only a few weeks ago, and included some remedial work to repair and ensure the longevity of the engine’s top bearing. This is sure to be peace-of-mind to any potential buyer of this era of 997, with marque specialists Zentrum Ltd. of Nottingham observing absolutely no piston scoring when this work was carried out. The car is accompanied by a large history file, showing its fastidious service history, and supporting its 76,000 miles (which equates to under 4,500 miles per annum). The car presents well in a very stylish colour combination and, having been first registered on 24th March 2005, its condition belies its 17 years, indicative of diligent ownership. There is nothing quite like the urgency and sound of a large-capacity normally-aspirated Porsche flat-6 accelerating, giving an instant response, with real torque and a potent sound, especially channelled through the more vocal Sports exhaust. Our vendor is a private Porsche enthusiast and having enjoyed this car for the last three years, a change in circumstances dictate that he has now decided to offer the car for sale. Currently, the 997-Series Porsche 911 seems tremendous value, particularly at this guide, offering real performance with everyday usability and an entry into the fascinating world of 911 ownership.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2005Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99Z5S736053Registration Number: S2 XXNTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 68509110 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 76000 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A mini piece of Italian exotica, carbonfibre monocoque chassis, dual dry clutch gearbox and only 8,000 miles from new; this example also benefits from some incredible upgrades. A rear-wheel drive, mid-engined sportscar based around a lightweight carbonfibre chassis? That'll be a McLaren or a Lamborghini, right? Not in this case. Alfa Romeo has long been a brand of unfulfilled promise. With the 4C, it got itself right back on track and its construction really does put it among some very rarefied machinery indeed. Back in 2013, it had been 30 years since we'd seen a real Alfa Romeo sports car for real people, but then came the 4C. Immediately there was a lineage to the 4C’s bigger sibling, the 8C Competizione (2007-2010), with its carbonfibre bodyshell, this now modern-classic supercar regularly demands £250,000-plus; furthermore, the 8C was produced for Alfa Romeo by Maserati, the very people who lovingly took on the task of hand-assembling the 4C, its populist successor. That fact is significant and will continue to be, as history judges the Alfa Romeo 4C. Make no mistake, the 4C is a proper, bespoke, and gorgeous driving machine. For now, perhaps, it is content with being a lightweight, mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sportscar (that just happens to hand-built and composite bodied), which makes the most of a relatively small engine with its lack of mass and impeccable handling - in short, the type of Alfa Romeo they used to build and that almost anyone could aspire to own.The light rigid chassis, the wide track and a low centre of gravity aided by a McLaren-style electronic Q2 differential (that utilises the brakes to do the work of an LSD) all add up to impressive road-holding and cornering traction, however, it wasn't particularly happy on British roads. In retrospect, Alfa Romeo and indeed every other manufacturer who wants to offer their products in the UK, should have developed the car on the UK's finest lumpy lanes, on the grounds that if it worked here, it would have worked anywhere. In the end, the driving improvement duties were happily taken on by equally clever folk in the aftermarket. Chassis 'fixes' from a plethora of specialists quickly resolved any bumpy B-road misgivings and give the 4C the handling ammunition it needs to take on and likely beat all-comers on all roads.Enter the car presented here, a 4C developed by a real enthusiast with a truly impressive specification. Our vendor happily relinquished his 4C (already supplied with the Race Pack) to the best-in-the-business, Alfa Workshop of Royston, Hertfordshire who have lavished all their expertise, plus servicing dedication (regularly serviced, with cambelts on due-dates) on this car. Along with a full geometry set-up, Alfa Workshop also fitted an upgraded front anti-roll bar, plus an additional rear anti-roll bar and electric power-assisted steering – a real gamechanger for the driving experience - according to Alfa Workshop, who solely supply and fit this £6,000 EPAS upgrade, this is one of only three UK 4Cs to have benefitted from this improvement. It's also enhanced by the addition of a full KW coil-over kit, a mild ECU remap (280bhp), Helmholtz exhaust resonator, tailpipe, and carbon fibre tip, multiple KOSHI carbon-fibre parts (costing £8,000, includes interior, engine bay, rear diffuser), Tillett B5 carbon-fibre race seats (costing £2,000), plus lightweight magnesium Titan alloy wheels (costing £5,000, specially imported from the US, fitted with performance tyres that have covered less than 1,000 miles; the four original upgraded style of wheel accompany the car with tyres that have covered just 7,000 miles). The car also benefits from the application of PPF and is accompanied by a branded, fitted indoor car cover.Other upgrades include faux-suede headlining and sun visors, together with upgraded heater and ventilator controls, again, specially sourced from the US. All original components/parts will accompany the car, however, the cherished registration, 'S88 CCL' will not.The little Alfa has covered just 8,412 miles from new and, having benefitted from input from some very knowledgeable 4C people, it's almost certainly the best handling, most accomplished and totally 'sorted' example available.(Please not that the registration 'S88 CCL' will not come with the car, it will revert back to 'RX17 NUY'.)SpecificationMake: ALFA ROMEOModel: 4CYear: 2017Chassis Number: ZAR9600000M193033Registration Number: RX17 NUYTransmission: Manual Engine Number: 7661081 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 8412 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Carbon Click here for more details and images

A well-presented later example with 3.2-litre engine, recent clutch and excellent weather equipment.Testing a Lagonda 3-Litre in 1929, The Motor marvelled at the flexibility of the engine (capable of accelerating from 5mph to 80mph in top gear) and stated that it was “difficult to imagine a car nearer an ideal than one which combines the full performance of a speed model with the top gear performance of the best modern touring car.” Sentiments echoed by Motor Sport who declared the 3-Litre to be “a very pleasant car of very high quality and possessing that indefinable but very definite character which stamps the thoroughbred in every walk of life.”  In total, some 580 3-Litre models were made before it was replaced in 1934 by the new M45 (with the improved ZMBS chassis and Meadows 4.25 6ESC engine) and it's thought that only around 150 survive today.Delivered new to a customer in Victoria, Australia, this 1934 3.2-litre Lagonda was originally fitted with ST24A saloon coachwork. It was owned by the Williams family and would have been a very expensive purchase back then. By the late 1940s, it was in the hands of Bill Brooks who sold it to Don Frazer in Adelaide in 1961 who ran an engineering business. It was he who rebodied the car in its current form, a sporting four-seat tourer using the original scuttle, bonnet and wings. He kept it until 1972, passing it to Gordon Lindsay who was to enjoy the car for another few years before it moved to Tasmania to a new owner Bart Hutchings. He soon sent it to local restorer Nigel Grace for attention, the bodywork being refurbished and repainted green with black wings – the livery it wears today.A change of hands again and a trip to New Zealand followed, before arriving back in the UK in 1989 when it was registered MSU 895. Our vendor is a stalwart of the VSCC and knowledgeable Lagonda enthusiast and since purchasing the 3-Litre in 2005 he has enjoyed it very much and has kept on top of care and maintenance. Around three years ago, the door cards were retrimmed and a new hood and tonneau fitted, along with some restoration of the sidescreens and, in May 2020 he had a new clutch fitted, the invoice remaining on file for the parts from the Lagonda Club. It also comes with a copy handbook, manual and a 'Buff' logbookDescribed by our vendor as in nice but not concours condition, it runs and drives really well and looks to be a good usable example with attractive coachwork and decent performance.SpecificationMake: LAGONDAModel: 3-LITREYear: 1934Chassis Number: Z10888Registration Number: MSU 895Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 2637Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Green LeatherClick here for more details and images

A genuine, UK-supplied (C-16), right-hand drive, 930 Turbo in good condition with substantial recent investment.Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program, and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim, a combination that delivered 260 bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978 the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an intercooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.Offered here is a right-hand drive, UK-supplied ‘C16’, 3.3-litre, four-speed manual gearbox example that's finished in the striking combination of Marine Blue Metallic with a Dark Blue (Dunkesblau) leather interior. Just over 87,849 miles were showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and this particular car has been the lucky recipient of over £20,000's worth of mechanical attention by marque specialist, Paragon Porsche, during March and April 2022. There is a huge amount of detail in the invoices showing the extent of the work and we encourage all interested parties to come see for themselves at the NEC.Offered by a well-known Porsche aficionado, this Turbo represents a wonderful opportunity to own a highly useable example of one of these iconic German coupes. With the market for 930 Turbos continuing to gain strength we are delighted to offer this spectacular classic supercar that could well prove to be a shrewd and enjoyable purchase.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1988Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ93ZJS000516Registration Number: XDZ 2201Transmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

One owner from new, presented in the iconic Focus RS colour of Ultimate Green, and one of the lowest mileage Mk2 RS' in the world having covered just 357 miles from new.As a result of the ‘interesting’ launch of the Mk1 Focus RS, the decision was made to never build another Focus RS. Thankfully, Ford went back on their word and the second generation Focus RS was released in 2009. The car they built was a limited run, 300bhp 'super-hatch' and they did not hold back one bit. With its huge twin-blade spoiler at the back, aggressive body kit, and ballistic performance from the turbocharged 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine, the car was launched with a hugely vibrant Ultimate Green paint scheme. Only 11,500 examples were built in a production run that lasted a little over three years, with just 4,000 finding homes in the UK.The RS stayed true to its lineage and opted to remain front-wheel drive over four-wheel drive, but with a combination of Ford’s trick Revo-Knuckle front suspension, a Quaife limited-slip diff, and well-judged ESP, the Mk2 did a great job of laying the power down and managing the torque-steer while still providing plenty of involvement. The chassis was stiffened by around 30% and featured bigger driveshafts, a wider track, lower ride-height, and a faster steering rack translating into remarkably civilised road manners with a fabulous bite when you wound it up. With 301bhp and a massive 324lb.ft on tap, the RS could hit 60 mph in under 6.0 seconds and topped 160 mph, all accompanied by the throaty five-cylinder warble, plenty of turbo flutter, and even the occasional pop and bang from the exhausts. When you weren’t on a charge, the RS was a polite and practical hatchback capable of returning 25-30mpg, easy to park, offered plenty of boot space and was reasonably quiet at a constant speed. However, with its gaping grille, 19-inch wheels, flared arches, deep diffuser and a wing that would embarrass a Porsche Turbo, the RS left you in no doubt about its intentions. This 2009 Focus RS Mk 2 is finished in the iconic launch colour of Ultimate Green and is in outstanding condition. As standard, it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, eight speakers, a heated windscreen, and auto-levelling Xenon headlights with jet wash. This example was specified as the very desirable Lux Pack 1, equipping the car with dual-zone air conditioning, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, keyless start, rear parking sensors, and auto lights/wipers. The interior is finished in black with Dynamica partial-leather Recaro seats which appear unmarked, as do the carpets, presenting the whole of the interior in ‘as new’ condition. The car has lived a life of luxury in a heated garage and remained completely standard all its life, as it left the factory. The current indicated mileage is 357 and the service records have been stamped by Jermyn & Sons Seaford, Ford Main Dealers with the most recent being recorded at 328 miles. With the prices of performance Fords continuing to rise across the board, particularly the modern classics such as the Mk1 Focus RS and Mk2 Focus RS500, this 2009 example with its single ownership, high specification and borderline unrepeatable low mileage is perfectly suited to being nestled into a collection, enthusiastically driven, or ideally a combination of the two.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: FOCUS RS MK2Year: 2009Chassis Number: WF0GXXGCDG9B47148Registration Number: GV09 ZKCTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 9B47148Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 353 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

A beautifully restored, matching numbers 3.8-litre, ex-South African car finished in the most stunning combination of British Racing Green with Sage Green leather. For many, the definitive Jaguar sports saloon, the Mk2, was introduced in October 1959. A peerless blend of elegance and muscularity, its sleek lines clothed an evolution of the Coventry marque's first monocoque design. Powered by derivatives of the same XK DOHC straight-six engine that had swept Jaguar to five Le Mans victories, the Mk2 was quick to dominate contemporary saloon car racing. Equipped with coil-and-wishbone independent front suspension, a leaf-sprung Salisbury rear axle and servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, the range-topping 3.8 boasted nearly seven times the horsepower of a Mini 850 and a 126mph top speed! Blessed with one of the all-time great automotive interiors, its stylish instrumentation, rich wood veneers and sumptuous leather upholstery all conspired to cosset and cocoon its lucky occupants. This rather smart 3.8-litre example dates from 1964 and we understand returned to the UK in 1990. It's a UK-supplied, right-hand drive car and was converted from a manual gearbox to automatic during its restoration by P and K Thornton in 1999. The Jaguar now presents very well in British Racing Green over Sage Green leather with new Apple Green carpets, a light grey headlining and excellent veneers. It looks very sporty with chrome wire wheels, Speedwell racing mirrors, chromed tailpipes and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. Supplied with the car are invoices dated between 1992 and 2000 totalling £38,896 and in 2003 it was valued at £30,000. It has covered 96,500 miles which is a bit academic with a restoration of this quality. This a beautifully presented Mk2 with all the right sporting cues and, unusually, it's an automatic which opens up a whole new list of potential owners who, for one reason or another, are more comfortable without a clutch pedal.   SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: MK2Year: 1964Chassis Number: A232768Registration Number: ENP 416BTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 7B647928 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 96500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Sage Green leatherClick here for more details and images

An impressive collector quality, Mk1 2-litre Transit, LWB, twin-wheel panel van from 1972.  On offer here is a very special example of one of the best selling commercial vehicles in history. Naturally, it's a Ford Transit, specifically a Mk1, LWB, twin-wheel, panel, 'custom' panel van. The vendor informs us that being a 'custom' model, it boasts features such as both left and right-hand side loading doors, up-and-over barn doors, improved seats and wood-effect dashboard trim. The odometer reads 7,071 miles, which could well be correct, and the owner believes it to be, as it was kept in a heated garage for over 40 years during the early part of its life. Once this long-term storage ended, the Transit was then bought by a previous owner, who decided to paint the van inside and out and detailed the engine whilst it was removed for the paint job at the same time. This work was carried out by the, then, owner over a long period of time to ensure that it was done properly. The previous owner mentioned to our vendor that the van has never been welded, which we can't confirm, but given its history that may well be the case. Once the respray job was complete, the Transit was taken to various shows and competitions to show off its originality with a great deal of success.Shortly after this, our vendor bought the Transit to add to his private collection of significant Fords and it's resided in his collection ever since. It's complete with lots of 'period' touches including Air Horns, period wheel trims, a Radiomobile 8-Track player complete with some cartridges, a push button radio, an Operators Manual and an old copy of the Daily Mirror.Excitingly offered at No Reserve, this is a potential 'best-of-breed' contender when you consider its originality and condition and is perhaps an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a rather special example of what is becoming a highly collectable vehicle.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: MK1Year: 1972Chassis Number: BC05MD54245Registration Number: EVN 137LTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 679

UK-delivered in Olive Green and offered directly from the personal collection of rally champion and James Bond stunt driver, Mark Higgins. The Porsche 911 (996) Turbo S came at the very end of the 996 production cycle in 2005 and was given the full-house treatment of options, being sufficiently different to become known as the 996.2. The engine was fitted with the bigger turbos from the X50 Power kit, uprated intercoolers and a revised ECU boosting output to 450bhp, and the car's top speed broke through that magic 300km/h barrier, with a maximum of 190mph (307km/h), placing it firmly in supercar territory, helped by the four-wheel drive. This period also saw a huge change in attitude towards semi-automatic gearboxes, helped by Ferrari’s F1 and Porsche’s Tiptronic, and unprecedented technological advancements. It was accepted as the best of both worlds by the traditional, yet enthusiast, Porsche Turbo buyer, and subsequently a manual gearbox was rarely specified, none more so than the Turbo S, most of which were Coupes. A UK-delivered manual cabriolet Turbo S is therefore so rare that UK production figures are not recorded but, undoubtedly, there are very few and they seldom become available. However, none are comparable to this car’s colour, mileage and provenance, which combine to make it unique.Optioned with carbon ceramic brakes and delivered new to the UK, finished in the very rare colour of Olive Green, this Turbo S Cabriolet was first registered on  23rd May 2005 to a successful restaurateur. He used it as a daily driver for the first few years, covering largely motorway miles, however, the annual mileage gradually reduced as time went by. Having always coveted the car, our vendor, multiple British Rally Championship winner Mark Higgins, purchased the Porsche from his friend, becoming the second owner on  26th December 2013.Like many of the sports cars in Mark’s Collection, this Turbo S has been driven sparingly with overseas filming commitments limiting his time behind the wheel. His talents have been called upon in the modern era of Bond films, most recently doubling as James Bond in the set piece Aston Martin DB5 scene in No Time To Die. As one of Hollywood’s go-to 'wheelmen' Mark’s driving has featured in the Fast & Furious, Batman and Star Wars franchises to name a few.Regular oil changes were carried out and the maintenance record lists main dealer and specialist services together with dates and mileage. Since 2013, Mark has driven less than 3,000 miles in the car and it's presented to auction freshly serviced and MOT'd with an odometer reading of 66,995 miles at the time of cataloguing. It's supplied with hard top, spare key, wallet containing the Porsche manuals, aforementioned receipts and its V5C.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2005Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99Z5S670343Registration Number: NG05 REDTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 64531360 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 66995 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

An original UK-supplied, right-hand drive, matching-numbers, manual gearbox, V12 carefully restored in the past.A decade after the original Jaguar E-type arrived, the design progressively matured through 1971 with the introduction of the Series 3. Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5.3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series 3 cars were available as a 'Roadster' (convertible) or a 2+2 Coupe. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by its large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips, and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It also featured uprated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling. The interior was entirely new in the V12, with more comfortable seating, stylish new door panels and a smaller dished and leather-rimmed steering wheel. Being slightly larger and altogether much softer in nature, the E-type in Series 3 form had lost the wildness of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile, to which it was arguably better suited.Having been with its current owner for the last 32 years, this Primrose Yellow Series 3 E-Type Roadster with a black interior and mohair hood remains in excellent condition throughout having been restored in the 1980s with replacement panels as required and a partial retrim completed. With regular care and maintenance, this Jaguar has led a cossetted life and, after a recent mechanical recommission carried out after a period of little use, it's now ready for its next lucky owner. The current indicated mileage is just 39,446, believed to be the genuine mileage covered since first registration in December 1974, as supported by the accompanying history file which contains relevant paperwork and a quantity of invoices going back to day one. Presented in outstanding unmolested condition, this lovely Series 3 has a real air of originality and, although restored some years ago, the condition is such that is now ready to be used and enjoyed as intended. In E-Type terms, this lovely example seems to tick all the boxes; UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox, matching numbers, Pale Primrose, chrome wires, long-term ownership, low mileage, an older restoration that's mellowing nicely and sensibly guided.  SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1974Chassis Number: IS2288Registration Number: GRR 600NTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 7S132445BDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 39466 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

A UK-supplied Corrado with the rare and costly VW Motorsport-upgraded VSR engine. Arriving in late 1991 the VR6-engined version of the Volkswagen Corrado was hailed by CAR magazine as one of '25 cars you must drive before you die’, while Auto Express rated it as among ‘VW’s best ever drivers’ cars’. Sharing the same handsome Herbert Schafer-penned silhouette as its four-cylinder siblings, the newcomer sported a wider front track so as to accommodate its six-cylinder powerplant. Responsible for inspiring VAG’s later Bentley W12 and Bugatti W16 designs, the freshly developed engine featured an unusually narrow Vee angle of 15 degrees meaning that it only need a single cylinder head. Sonorous and punchy, it produced some 188bhp and 181lb/ft of torque and was allied to either 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. Equipped with MacPherson struts up front and trailing arms plus a torsion beam at the rear, the manual VR6 was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 6.7 seconds and 145mph; seriously impressive figures during the early 1990s and still respectable today.More impressive, and much rarer, is the Corrado VR6 VSR – an upgrade that was dropped before production on cost grounds and was instead offered as an aftermarket option. The 2.9-litre VR6 engine was originally designed to benefit from a dual-tract variable-length inlet manifold called VSR (German: ‘Variables SaugRohr’) and was made by Pierburg for Volkswagen Motorsport, giving extra low-down torque. A very rare and highly desirable genuine VW modificationThe car presented here is one of these rare VSR models, having previously had long-term ownership by a Corrado Club GB member, and has been known to the club for a decade or more, having previously been displayed as a 'best of breed' example at the NEC Classic Car Show. The car has covered just 49,893 miles (atoc) and is described by our vendor as in ‘virtually concours condition throughout’, having gone through a fully documented and photographed rebuild (between 2011-2013) for apparently no other reason than making it as perfect as possible. Indeed, the underneath is said to be immaculate, as too is the full grey leather interior.Accompanying the car are five folders full of information, service history, photographs and receipts. It was during its rebuild it had fitted the genuine VW Motorsport VSR kit which varies, via a vacuum system, the inlet manifold tracts improving the driveability of the car and increasing power (now 212bhp from dyno tests within the history folders). There is a full stainless-steel genuine VW exhaust system fitted also, to further aide power. Another key improvement is the addition of KW fully adjustable coil-overs all round carried out by the current owner that sensibly improves the stance and handling. The car is understood to drive wonderfully, with a sonorous exhaust bark as it reaches the higher end of the rev range, the current owner having used it for trips to the Lake District, Northern Ireland and France in recent years.Corrado aficionados will note the ASB light goes out promptly and the sunroof works flawlessly. The ‘VSR’ number plate is included in the sale..SpecificationMake: VOLKSWAGENModel: CORRADOYear: 1996Chassis Number: WVWZZZ50ZSK002404Registration Number: N100 VSRTransmission: ManualEngine Number: ABV015846Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 49893 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Rare South African, two-door, long stick Range Rover Classic recently sympathetically restored. The no-nonsense Land Rover was an unashamed agricultural workhorse and, though fully roadable, was never intended to cosset its occupants. Therefore, from day one, there lay scope for the production of a sibling that combined the Landie’s much vaunted off-road prowess with a greater degree of on-road chic and comfort. Though various such plans were mooted in the 1950s, it was the emergence of the SUV market in America a decade later that finally convinced Rover to create such a model. Spen King famously oversaw the 100 inch Station Wagon project that was finally revealed to the world as the Range Rover in 1970 - a David Bache design that created a whole new genre of go-anywhere vehicles, which remains in full bloom today. This right-hand drive, manual gearbox, two-door Range Rover Classic was imported from South Africa in 2018 by the car's previous owner who purchased it from a friend who lives out there. Once back in the UK, it was subject to a sympathetic restoration over a two-year period which included a glass-out respray in Lincoln Green, new tan interior including the headlining, new fuel tank, fuel pump, steering box, alternator, refurbished carbs, a full brake overhaul, five new tyres and the wheels powder coated in silver.Purchased just over two years ago by our vendor, it has been lightly used and regularly serviced by him during that period and still presents beautifully. The odometer indicates some 43,000 miles, but naturally this is not warranted, and the car is supplied with its V5C and some previous history and restoration bills.Two-door Classic Range Rovers are wholly endearing and always seem in fashion, blending in effortlessly whether at Goodwood or a local country show, and this nicely restored example will be welcome anywhere. SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: RANGE ROVERYear: 1979Chassis Number: 35753919Registration Number: EEL 827TTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 24G04105BDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 43000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan VinylClick here for more details and images

The third of just three factory right-hand drive 'AXI' UK-spec cars and offered from the personal collection of the historian of The DeLorean Owners' Club UK.The story of the three right-hand drive, UK-specification cars produced by DeLorean Motor Cars Ltd., for demonstration and senior managerial use is a little known tale. Who better to tell the story than our vendor, Christopher Parnham, co-author of “DeLorean: Celebrating the Impossible” and former Secretary and current historian of the DeLorean Owners’ Club UK. He informs us that in early October 1981, three grey-interior cars, one manual and two automatics were taken directly off the production line, re-engineered to produce 150bhp, a significant improvement over the US specifications cars with 130bhp, the brakes were upgraded and the rear light clusters redesigned. Converted to right-hand drive by Wooler-Hodec Ltd., all three cars were registered sequentially as AXI 1697, AXI 1698 and AXI 1699, the second automatic car. These cars, however, should not be compared with the earlier 20 or so US-specification cars with black interiors that were also converted by Wooler-Hodec to right-hand drive during the problematic first months of production. There are numerous features unique to the 3 AXI cars; the small round side indicator repeaters - instead of two long ones, the black front grille with its integral DMC badge, the headlight trims were only on AXI 1697 and AXI 1699 (and subsequently AXI 1698), the roof antennas are unique to the three AXI cars as are the twin brake servos. All three cars had special UK rear-lights and the black f/glass trim surrounds made by William Towns were originally unique but the purchasing department went on to copy some for other RHD cars and they all had 140mph speedometers rather than the normal 85mph.One of the “AXI” cars was due to be displayed at the International Car Show in Birmingham but on press day, 19th October 1982, John DeLorean was arrested during a $24,000,000 drug sting, although later acquitted, it was to seal the fate of the company. The Official Receivers sent AXI 1699, along with five left-hand drive cars, to auction and they were sold on the 25th November 1982. A press clipping of the sale, featuring a photograph of this car, states that a London dealer, Mr Tony Clutterbuck, bought AXI 1699 for £15,250, the highest price of the day.A magazine article, published in January 1983, reviews this very car, now registered “MGJ 126Y” and is perhaps the only “new car” review for a manufacturer no longer in business. Our vendor had been searching for this car for years and he found it in 2001, it had been off the road for decades, and whilst his initial offer was turned down, he finally secured the car in 2018, reuniting it with stable mate AXI 1698 that he had owned since the 1990s. The story of the hunt for AXI 1699 featured in the Winter 2018 edition of DeLorean News, the club’s magazine.Recommissioned and subsequently replated with its original AXI 1699 registration number, the car has been displayed at numerous events and at the NEC Classic Motor Show twice. With advancing years limiting our vendor’s mobility, the DeLorean car is reluctantly offered to auction. The odometer reading of 23,387 miles, at the time of cataloguing, could well be accurate given the car’s known history, and it will be accompanied by a hardback copy of “Motor Makers in Ireland” by John Moore that features this very car on the cover and signed for the vendor by John DeLorean himself, a number of receipts and invoices, various press clippings, the V5C and an MOT valid until May 2023.AXI 1699 has a fascinating story that very few cars can claim; a documented history starting on the production line and one of three variants of a single model manufactured by a company whose founder inspired two biographical Hollywood films and lest not forget the DeLorean’s enduring legacy as one of the most iconic movie cars of all time.SpecificationMake: DELOREANModel: DMC-12Year: 1981Chassis Number: SCEDT26T6B0005730Registration Number: AXI 1699Transmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 5596 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 23387 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey LeatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 757

A simply astonishing 'as new' Defender cherished by a real enthusiast; regularly serviced and stored in A1 condition.   The icon. As much a part of British car culture as the Mini, the Jaguar E-Type or the Ford Escort - perhaps even more so. Though officially only known as a Defender from 1990, as a rebadge of the previous 90 and 110 models it was instantly familiar given the evolutionary relationship with the Series Land Rovers that preceded them. To the layman, the different versions have almost become interchangeable, not least because each represents the utilitarian, unpretentious, rugged off-roader that made Land Rover famous. The Defender itself evolved gradually over its quarter-century on sale, gaining new Ford engines and the odd interior tweak. Perhaps the most significant change, however, was nothing that the Defender did it all - it was in trendy metropolitan elites adopting it as their carriage of choice, taking the Land Rover legend from the country into the city. As such it became popular with both cattle herders and yoga instructors and is now reflected in a replacement new-era Defender that’s as good up to its axles in clag as it is carving through SW1.The car presented here, a high specification 2012 XS TDCI, is perhaps a real sweet-spot in the evolution of the Land Rover; still with the endearing Land Rover feel and classic shape of old, but by now Defenders gained a cleaner Euro5 engine, a 2.2-litre Ford-sourced Duratorq diesel unit, fitted with a diesel particulate filter. Other updates - ventilated disc brakes, the option of more comfortable seats and upgraded stereo equipment - were more minor, but then the previous 2007 upgrade had already introduced a redesigned gearbox, extra sound insulation and a smarter, slightly more car-like interior. This particular car is one very special example, a real collector’s choice - with a discerning specification, including Corris Grey bodywork with a Santorini Black roof, four half-leather seats (heated in the front), black Alcantara headlining, a tow bar and side-steps - its real point-of-difference is the 16 miles only it has covered and the ‘better-than-new’ showroom condition it remains in.Owned and cherished by a dedicated marque enthusiast, it was the last Defender build slot ever issued to the Stratstone Cheltenham Land Rover dealership. It was collected by our vendor in an enclosed transporter from new, tucked away and meticulously stored (its underside having a regular WD40 wipe-off) in in a purpose-made ‘Carcoon’, in dark, heated, and dehumidified conditions. It has been similarly transported every year back to the Stratstone Cheltenham dealership for its annual service - the oil is as clean coming out as it goes in! It has never been driven on-road and it has never been wet.Is there a better, lower mileage example out there? Probably not. Needless to say, it comes with 2x keys, every piece of paperwork (all in plastic wallets), including all service receipts, MOTs, its original sales receipt from Stratstone, and two pages from the production line. Sold with the cherished registration ‘S22 HUE’ - reference to its 2.2-litre engine and bearing the famous Land Rover suffix letters of HUE – ‘S90 HUE’ was assigned to the 2,000,000th Defender produced, which famously sold at auction for £400,000.What an opportunity to acquire a collection-ready ‘real’ Land Rover Defender, the likes of which we won’t ever see again, and this is the sort of example of such you’re similarly unlikely to replicate.  SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: DEFENDER 90 2.2 XS TDCIYear: 2016Chassis Number: SALLDWBP7GA488856Registration Number: S22 HUETransmission: Manual Engine Number: 151127012546DT224 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 16 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

An older restoration that's recently been refreshed, this fresh to market, matching numbers, manual gearbox Series 3 awaits its next custodian.   Finished in its original colour scheme of Old English White with a black interior and hood, this manual gearbox Series 3 Jaguar E-Type 5.3-litre V12 Roadster rolled off the production line on 1st August 1971 before being delivered to Howells of Cardiff some days later. Fully restored by renowned specialist Mike Mercer of Auto Classico in Bristol, the Jaguar was purchased as a wedding present in 2014 by its present owner before hibernating in long-term storage the year after.  Recently seeing the light of day once again after almost 20 years, the car has now been fully recommissioned by ‘Project Heaven’ remaining resplendent in every way, a testament to the specialists that carried out the exacting rebuild all those years ago. Accompanied by a photographic record of the rebuild, this fresh to market, matching-numbers Series 3 with its desirable manual gearbox awaits its next custodian and is ready to be pressed into service once again. SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1971Chassis Number: 1S1008Registration Number: WKG 974KTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 7S4069SADrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 630

A mid-mounted V6, an outrageous colour, quirky styling and made in small numbers, this fabulously French pocket rocket is a gorgeous creation that thankfully slipped through the net of sensibility.Once dubbed 'the World's smallest supercar' by Evo Magazine, the Renaultsport Clio V6 255 remains a motoring oddity if there ever was one. Renault took a big, Laguna derived 3-litre V6 engine producing 255bhp and 221lb/ft torque, dropped it in the middle of the short Clio chassis, hooked up a rear-wheel drive system and mated it to a 6-speed manual transmission. If that wasn’t enough, it looks like they then injected styling steroids into the bodywork to give it that wide, aggressive stance and put it out to the world in 2001, with the Phase 2 being revealed as an even sharper variant in 2003.Early models had a reputation for spikiness on the limit, but the car became more refined with time and later V6s managed to be both usable and better to drive than earlier models. Both guises (230 Phase 1 and 255 Phase 2) stand out on the road with levels of charm achieved by few other cars - and rising prices suggest the market didn’t take long to catch on to their value as drivers' cars. At the time of its release, the Phase 2 was the most powerful hot hatch ever made.Only 1,309 Clio V6 255 Phase 2s were built for the global market with only 21 of them being specified in Acid Yellow, with eight of those 21 making their way to the UK. It is an undeniably early 2000s look with the bold colour scheme, but with such a bonkers car it seems to suit it and make sense.A Phase 2 Clio V6 is a rare car at the best of times, but to be one of just eight cars ever to come to the UK in this colour combination stands it above the rest, especially considering its covered just 13,250 miles at time of consignment in the hands of its four previous keepers. For a car that’s moved so little, the history file is meticulous including lots of invoices for work and maintenance undertaken, most recently in March 2021 when it received a new cambelt, pulley kit and water pump, fitted by East Bilney Garage at a cost of £1,348. There is also the Renault embossed leather folder and service book accompanying the various invoices. Presenting in very good condition, representative of the low mileage, the paintwork presents well, as does the interior showing it has been looked after and cherished from day one.Once described by Evo Magazine as one of the greatest cars Renault have ever offered, the Clio V6 is very quickly (and deservedly) achieving cult status and must be worthy of a slot in any serious collection. With its stunning colours, low mileage, and quintessentially French design, and signed by the Clio V6's designer, perfectly encapsulating the essence of modern mid-engined motoring 21 years ago, will no doubt make this a classic in the future.SpecificationMake: RENAULTModel: CLIO V6 255 PHASE 2Year: 2004Chassis Number: VF1C61U0631733896Registration Number: V6 YEHTransmission: ManualEngine Number: F167937Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 13250 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A delightfully restored example of the 500F Nuova (1965-1973) which featured conventional doors, a folding sunroof and a bit more power. On offer here is a delightful Fiat 500F finished in Aquamarine with a period-correct red and cream interior. Introduced in 1965, the F featured conventional doors a shorter sunroof, strengthened transmission and a little more power.WGU 476F was purchased in 2017 by our vendor after having had the bodywork refreshed but still in need of a little ‘TLC’ to bring it up to the next level. With that in mind, a schedule of works was embarked upon which was to include a full mechanical overhaul including the sensible decision to fit an all-synchromesh gearbox together with a full suspension strip and rebuild with all components refreshed or renewed as required. With the focus on keeping as close to the factory specification as possible, the interior was correctly retrimmed including the ribbed rubber matting alongside a new folding roof and even the tool kit received careful consideration such has been the attention to detail. Accompanying this outstanding Fiat is a comprehensive history file including an original Italian handbook, a workshop manual and factory parts catalogue, various invoices and some rare factory advertising material. Delightfully presented and offering a much- improved driving experience, this is one ‘Cinquecento’ that would be happy within any collection or being used as intended, as a fun urban run-around and, on offer at No Reserve, may be the bargain of the day. SpecificationMake: FIATModel: 500Year: 1968Chassis Number: 1868041Registration Number: WGU 476FTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 110F000Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 75350 Make: LHDInterior Colour: Red / Ivory VynilClick here for more details and images

A superb, UK-supplied, right-hand drive 550 Maranello finished in classic colours with gleaming Rosso Corsa paintwork, Crema leather seats and Rosso carpets offered from long-term private ownership.Firmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest modern era big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of elegant lines and legendary front mounted 12-cylinder engine, meant that these cars had the potential to become instant classics. The 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 developed 485bhp at 7,000rpm and the 6-speed manual gearbox complements a slightly more even torque curve, ensuring that the power delivery was a little less frenetic, whilst excellent weight distribution and delightful road manners make the 550 Maranello a truly refined driving machine, whilst still capable of almost 200mph. Offered here at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2022 is a superb Ferrari 550 Maranello supplied new by JCT600 Specialist Cars in April 1997 finished in classic colours with Rosso Corsa paintwork, Crema leather interior and matching Rosso carpets. Coming to market from 16-years private ownership and indicating 54,244 miles on the odometer supported by a comprehensive service record.Overall, the 26-year-old Ferrari presents very well, the Rosso Corsa paintwork retains an even finish and deep gloss across the bodywork with uniform panel gaps, the wheels present well and black brake calipers show nicely through the alloy spokes. Inside the cabin space is a factory, special-order Bordeaux leather dashboard that really sets this 550 apart from others and looks fabulous. The leather seats are in good order with minimal wear relative to their age and the limited electronic gadgetry tested appears to function well. Absolutely on-the-button, the 550 fires into life and sounds strong and healthy with no adverse smoke or sounds and we understand that on the road the Ferrari performs well due to its comprehensive maintenance over the years and stops well with well adjusted brakes and  matching premium-brand tyres on all four corners.Accompanying the 550 is a history file with Ferrari book pack including a service book stamped up-to-date with 16 stamps from Ferrari agents or specialists with the most recent entry a belt service in 2019 at 54,202 miles. Also within the file are paper invoices supporting many of the services and other maintenance along with old registration documents, Tracker paperwork, spare key and fobs (including the red one) and a wealth of old MOT Certificates with the most recent valid until August 2023. In the car is the tyre inflation system, Ferrari tool kit and a trickle charger to keep the battery maintained when not in use.In summary, this is a lovely 550 Maranello that has clearly been well maintained and has covered a 'sensible' mileage, meaning that it's a car you can continue to use as intended on long road trips without feeling guilty about racking up the miles. Offered at a sensible guide, this lovely modern-classic Ferrari may well turn out to be one of your better decisions.SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 550Year: 1996Chassis Number: ZFFZR49C000108275Registration Number: P261 AWTTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 54500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: CreamClick here for more details and images

Lot 656

Just as you would hope to find one! An unrestored, single owner, hot-hatch legend with a comprehensive up-to-date service history and just 57,000 miles. It’s the early 1990s, and the 1.8-litre Clio 16v is locked in combat for hot-hatch glory with the ageing Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. It’s a better car by many objective criteria, but not a convincingly faster one and, in the eyes of many, the GTI still holds the crown. It took a truly special car to convincingly wrestle supremacy away from Peugeot, to really bury the old-timer and to refine the class in the process. That car was the Clio Williams.Sold with the compelling marketing strategy of an F1 team association, the Williams was actually an homologation special in the familiar mould. It was built because RenaultSport wanted to go rallying and the class maximum displacement stood at 2.0-litres. Given this was still the era of homologation into classes A and N, Renault simply had to build 2,500 road cars to qualify, although it would eventually build many more. The initial production run of the Clio Williams was limited to just 5,400 examples, of which only 390 arrived in the UK.Naturally, RenaultSport did a thorough job. The suspension used a reinforced front subframe borrowed from the Clio Cup racer, plus uprated springs, dampers, rear torsion arms and thicker anti-roll bars. The track was increased by 34mm and the 7J Speedline alloys were half-an-inch wider than the 16v’s and distinctively gold. The gearbox was stronger, too, with revised ratios. There was just one exterior colour offered for the first generation of Williams – ‘449’ Metallic Sports Blue – and the cumulative effect of body (already blistered of arch, front, and rear, and bulging of bonnet from the 16v), paint and those golden wheels was as close to hot-hatch perfection as many felt it was possible to get. It's a small car with a wheel pushed to the very extremity of each corner; a little shorter, slightly wider, and significantly lower than a Clio 172 or 182.Codenamed ‘F7R’ and developed from the 16v’s 137bhp F7P unit, the new engine featured a longer stroke and bigger bore size, and benefitted from a stronger crankshaft (borrowed from the diesel Clio) plus new pistons, camshafts and conrods, with bigger valves and a lightweight exhaust manifold. Output was now 148bhp at 6,100rpm and 126lb/ft at 4,500rpm, not enormous by today's standards but 85% of the torque was available from 2,500rpm and the car only weighed 981kg. The car presented here is a 1994 Renault Clio Williams (Phase One), #0114, and was originally supplied through Trenton Renault of Hull to its first owner, who kept and treasured this cracking car right up until last year when, sadly, it passed to a family member (but not being registered to them, so this is a 0 previous owners car). It has been indulged from day one, being undersealed from new, always garaged, and annually serviced. The indicated mileage of 57,964 is fully verifiable, supported by its bulging history file and the car really is as good as it looks, having the sort of preservation and mechanical health that you'd associate with single-person, long-term, dedicated ownership. The current custodian has lost access to his storage so is reluctantly selling it, understanding that to keep such an original and low-mileage example in tip-top condition is a commitment and is perhaps best done by an marque enthusiast. To honour the car's superb condition and maintenance history, our vendor has made sure the car was fully serviced (on 02/12/21 at 57,628 miles, costing £1,460.99) making it absolute A1 and ready for sale (including a new timing belt and all auxiliary parts, plus five new Michelin tyres, even down to a repaired oil sender dial). These very special performance hatchbacks are now rare; even rarer in this sort of condition with one owner and a very worthy addition to any car collection based on its status, history and amazing state of conservation.SpecificationMake: RENAULTModel: CLIOYear: 1994Chassis Number: VF1C57M0510844744Registration Number: L910 DUETransmission: Manual Engine Number: 00C5561 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 57000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Williams Click here for more details and images

A good example of the rare Twin Plenum with a detailed history file that includes the original service book and reams of historical receipts - Offered Without Reserve.Styled as "New Tradition' by Rover at its launch in 1976, the Rover 3500 "Specialist Division One" took the motoring press by storm, winning the European Car of the Year title in 1977. The SD1 can be considered as the last "true" Rover, being the final Rover-badged vehicle to be produced at Solihull, as well as being the last to be designed largely by ex-Rover Company engineers and also the final Rover car to be fitted with the legendary Rover V8 engine. This Rover SD1 Vitesse is a rare and striking ‘twin-plenum’ example of the marque’s modern classic performance-oriented executive saloon, offered in highly original condition and, we believe, one of only 500 examples. It's powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V8 with a twin side-entry throttle plenum fuel injection system, producing around 200bhp and driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.Originally a Jersey-delivered model, the car has had three owners, and has been with the last owner for five years. Brought over to the UK-mainland, the car is currently on a NOVA and we inform prospective bidders that it is their responsibility to register the car with the DVLA. The odometer reading of 67,344 is commensurate with the original service record in the detailed history file which also includes reams of historic receipts and ownership details. With just 3,044 miles covered by two diligent former keepers from new, this car’s originality is not just obvious by its overall condition, but confirmed in the details where it counts - Offered Without Reserve. The Mk3 Ford Escort was unveiled to the public in September 1980 (internally codenamed ‘Erika’) and was entirely new from the ground up in terms of styling, engineering and mechanicals, the only thing carried over from the previous generations of Escort was the name. This meant that the car deviated from the traditional rear-wheel drive and followed the industry trend of producing wind tunnel-designed, front-wheel drive hatchbacks (all Escorts prior had been saloons) ready to embrace Europe. So well received was the car that it won the much-coveted European Car of the Year in 1981.A convertible version, made by coachbuilder Karmann, appeared in 1983 and was the first drop-top car produced by Ford Europe since the Corsair of the 1960s. Powered by the unmistakable rasp of the 1.6-litre injected CVH engine, it wore ‘Cloverleaf’ alloy wheels and a sharp pin-strip coachline, just what the market wanted. The car presented here is a totally unrestored 1985 Escort 1.6i Cabriolet with evidence of original factory wax on the underside. It wears its original front and rear supplying-dealer number plates and rear window sticker, the factory quality-control stickers are still in situ in the boot and paint marks from the factory are still visible on all the torqued bolts. The spare wheel and jack have never been used but, most memorably, that new car smell is there the minute you open the door. The all-original CVH engine is barely run in and is commensurate with the rest of the car and its indicated mileage of just 3,044 at the time of cataloguing. The car is accompanied by its V5C, Ford dealer network book, Escort manual and ultra-rare Escort Cabriolet booklet, plus 2 sets of keys, with one set still having a key tag number attached. The advisory free MOT is valid until the 5th October 2023.If originality is king for collectors of classic cars, this Ford Escort Cabriolet is certainly royalty; what a great way into owning a classic Ford and would be made very welcome at any owner's club event.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: ESCORTYear: 1985Chassis Number: WF0LXXGKALES17652Registration Number: B595 KNPTransmission: ManualEngine Number: ES17652Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 3044 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey ClothClick here for more details and images

Given to double 500cc World Champion Barry Sheene MBE by Suzuki GB in recognition of his time as a Works rider and used by him for five years.Ask any group of non-motor sport enthusiasts to name a famous motor cycle racer and there will be a few Valentino Rossis, a Mike Hailwood or two and undoubtedly the name Barry Sheene would be mentioned, despite the fact that his last motorcycle race was in 1984. His larger-than-life character, spectacular crashes and regular TV appearances for Brut aftershave alongside 'Splash it all over' Henry Cooper made him a household name.A dream for advertising executives and tabloid journalists alike, Barry Sheene (1950-2003) won more international 500cc and 750cc races between 1975 and 1982 than any rival. Although, Kreidler, Derbi and Yamaha also featured on his CV, it was whilst at Suzuki that he became a legend. Among the first LJ80Rs to arrive in the UK, HGO 747T was supplied by Suzuki GB to double world champion Barry Sheene for promotional duties and use as a pit vehicle. Dating from 1979 and originally painted Pastel Blue with black signwriting (including Sheene's famous number `7' decals) and a red stripe, the diminutive 800cc-engined four-wheel drive was later registered to the flamboyant rider's home address and remained with him until 1987 when he migrated to Australia. The Jeep's next owner was Ian Catford - Suzuki GB's contemporary marketing director - who lost little time in reinstating its full `Barry Sheene' livery. Bought by a Mr Royle thereafter, the LJ80R was pressed into everyday use before being sold to Suzuki main dealers, CMW Automobiles of Cuckfield, Sussex during the early 1990s. A showroom exhibit when not appearing at outside events or being loaned to Suzuki GB, HGO 747T was retained by CMW Automobiles' proprietor Richard Ferris upon his retirement in 2007, kept garaged and only used occasionally. In 2013, HGO was offered at auction and purchased by our vendor to join his impressive collection of road and race cars where it has remained ever since. The indicated mileage is 26,170, supported by old MOTs and invoices, and the car appears in very good overall condition and certainly starts and drives like a low-mileage Japanese car. The Suzuki is not only a fantastic piece of motorsport memorabilia but also an interesting vehicle in its own right as a rare survivor of the LJ80 range of lightweights 'Jeeps' which caused quite a stir when they arrived in the UK in the late 70s. It features a soft top hood and removable doors and, although only 800cc, this little four-wheel drive LJ has a real 'go anywhere' look. It's supplied with an owners manual, service manual, a number of older MOTs and maintenance invoices, a couple of older V5s and DVLA Licence Applications in Barry Sheene's name and address in Horley, a Suzuki GB Bulletin, the auction catalogue from 2013 and period photographs taken at Effingham Park Hotel during one of Suzuki GB's annual conferences. This is a lovely little thing and a true connection with one of motorcycle racing's truly great characters. Sensibly guided at a tiny percentage of the values achieved by Barry's race bikes, the LJ would be at home in a corner of any motor sport enthusiast's collection.SpecificationMake: SUZUKIModel: LJ80RYear: 1979Chassis Number: 500103Registration Number: HGO 747TTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 115386Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 26170 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black VinylClick here for more details and images
