A C TYPE PERIOD FLYING HELMET & TUNIC. A WW11 'C' type flying helmet, with bacolite ear pieces inset in round rubber mounts. Complete with original label. Size 2 of 6.7/8" to 7" A Crown M, 22C/450, with two-pin side plug for communications. The ear pieces are marked A & M 10A/12401. Both chamois inner and outer covering in mostly good condition. The helmet would appear to have been officially modified for later wiring or fittings, the original loom has been cut short at the rear, one tear/hole is apparent in the leather cap at the front. An RAF 1944 dated Blouse/Battle Dress tunic, with pilots wings affixed. The label inside reads, Service Dress Blouse and Sileerston & Sons Ltd 1944. Both the Helmet and the Tunic bear the wearers name inside, again in exceptional condition overall. Both sleeves bear the cloth Royal Coat of Arms Warrant Officers badge. His RAF Pilots wings on the tunic, were awarded after flying training in America. He flew Dakota Aircraft in India among other bases. With the lot is an original Pilots Notes Manual for Dakota 1 & 111 (Wasp 92 Engines). Leaving the RAF with the rank of Flt/Sgt, he married and lived his working life as an Accountant in Yeovil, Somerset.

A large 8vo hardback volume in dark maroon gilt embossed lettered and decorated cloth (spine faded), pp xviii, 372, top edge gilt, 100 illustrations, some page gatherings becoming loose, but contents complete. Published by T. Fisher Unwin, London. Together with The Motor Car Manual by R. Moffat Ford, the larger part from the French of Maurice Farman, 150 pages, small 8vo, illustrated, with limp card covers, a little worn and marked, with a modern spine, and with a sellotape repair to the front hinge and some loss to the illustration on the reverse of the front cover, but the rest of the content sound. A 1959 Velocette Viper, registration number 585 CAC, frame number RS13035, engine number VR3668, black and chrome. Velocette Viper was the smaller 350 brother to the Venom 500. They became available in 1959 and had a production run until 1968. This particular example was first registered in ***Henley Street, Stafford (not Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire)*** in August 1961 and would remain in the county of Warwickshire passing though several changes of hands until 1972 according to information on the original RF60. Our vendor purchased the Viper from Comet Classics in March 2016. Since acquiring the Velocette he has rebuilt the engine and cylinder head with new valves and guides, Omega piston, small end, oil pump and gaskets. He advises us that the motorcycle is now in good condition and has been fitted with Akront aluminium wheel rims and Thorspark electronic ignition. The Viper is offered for auction with the original RF60 which notes a change of frame number from RS16431 to the current RS13035, previous MOTs, receipt from Grove Classic Motorcycles Ltd for parts used in the engine rebuild, Thorspark instructions, service manual and spare parts list. A 1977 Yamaha XS650, registration number NPO 688R, blue. This XS650 was imported and registered in 1994. In our vendor's ownership, he has recently had the Yamaha recommissioned and serviced by PRD Automotive at a cost of £428.05p, with an MOT being issued without any advisories. Now fully serviced and running smoothly, this XS650 will be offered for auction with previous MOTs, a Haynes manual and the aforementioned PRD automotive receipt. A 1972 Benelli Tornado Mk I 650, registration number YOD 682K, frame number ES2430, engine number 2439, grey. A machine for the parallel twin connoisseur, the Benelli Tornado was first exhibited at the 1967 Milan Show with production not starting in earnest until 1971. They always cost considerably more than their British counterparts so comparatively few were imported into England, with the majority of the production finding their way to the lucrative American market. This very original example was imported from Italy and was first registered for the British roads in April 2016. It passed its last MOT without any advisories. This Italian exotic motorbike would be a great addition to any collection, and is accompanied to auction with a history file containing Old Italian Bike Register dating certificate inspection report stating that it is totally original, in very good condition and 100% as it left the factory, DVLA paperwork, original sales brochure, other sales literature, a Motorcyclist period road test report (March 1971), a workshop manual (photocopy), magazines and other sundry paperwork. A 1979 Honda CB750/Four K-Z, registration number YKT 611V, frame number RC012015919, engine number RCOIE2016062, black. Honda's 750 K-Z is a sophisticated touring machine, featuring the 748cc inline DOHC four cylinder engine, capable of a top speed of 125 mph. This Honda has been owned and maintained by the vendor, an ex Rolls-Royce engineer, since April 1989. With 18,500 recorded miles from new, the vendor advises us that the motorcycle remains in original condition apart from the fitting of a Motad exhaust and crash bars. Recent maintenance has included the fitting of a new brake caliper with stainless steel pistons, a new cam chain and tensioner, a top end engine overhaul with new seals for valve stems (gaps set at 0.005 inch), and Sureseal Ethanol Resistant tank sealant. At the last MOT in November 2016, the carburettors were cleaned and new float needle assemblies were fitted and a full service was carried out with new oil, filter, plugs and battery. This well maintained 750/Four comes to auction with a workshop manual and offers an excellent opportunity to purchase a well maintained example. A 1937 Matchless/Excelsior 500cc Manxman OHC special roadster, registration number USY 596, frame number A81064, engine number (F14) GJC113, black and red. This special was purchased by the vendor in 2007 and has formed part of a private collection. The special comprises of a 1961 Matchless frame fitted with 1930 Matchless heavy weight girder forks with period 21 inch front wheel and standard rear wheel housing a 1937 500cc overhead camshaft Excelsior Manxman engine. The vendor has extensively rebuilt and refurbished the motorcycle including a rebuilt engine with rebuilt crankshaft and new +.040 piston, Miller/Mag Dyno, Miller original electrics, Manxman gearbox, clutch fibre inserts and clutch assistance as Manxman, a eight inch re-nickel plated head lamp, repainted tank in Excelsior style and badged as Excelsior/Matchless, new Smiths speedo front wheel application fitted, and numerous other items. The special will be sold with a copy of the engineer's sheet stating that engine GJC1213 is an original 500cc Manxman engine and a copy of the workshop manual by BM Smith. A 1936 Excelsior Manxman 350cc OHC roadster, registration number AOJ 912, frame number ME290, black. This exciting 350cc overhead cam single has formed part of a small private collection. The Excelsior has been restored and maintained to a high standard by the vendor and the initial build was featured in Motorcycle Classics October 1997, issue 18. This magazine article shows the initial build story plus photos (article accompanies the motorcycle). Initially built with a 21 inch Matchless front wheel and Matchless girder forks, the vendor has now fitted original Webb heavy weight forks which were rebushed and fitted with new spindles by Ray Daniels and an original Harwell 21 inch rebuilt wheel with relined brake shoes. The Excelsior has been fitted with a Miller rear light to replace the 1930s single bulb rear light arrangement. This rare and exciting sporting machine is now being offered for auction with an original Manxman workshop manual and is only for sale due to the vendor giving up motorcycling. A 1948 Douglas T35 Sports, registration number CVG 836, frame number 5142/S, engine number T35/S/5917/3S, silver. This sporting Douglas has formed part of a private collection and is now offered for sale due to the vendor retiring from motorcycling. The Douglas features a torsion sprung cradle frame housing the race proven horizontal overhead valve twin engine. The vendor advises us that the motorcycle has been restored with a rebuilt engine having a new crank and STK bore with new pistons, rebuilt magneto, electrics rewired, a stripped down and rebuilt gearbox, headlight conversion (Lucas six inch nickel reflector now fitted with seven inch sealed beam Lucas conversion), and new old stock petrol tank. The Silver Bullet or the Road to Berlin, manufactured by R.Farmer and Son, circa 1916, a British wartime dexterity puzzle in the form of a stylised map charting the Allied advance on Berlin, manufacturer's instructions printed on a label to verso of frame, 240 x 165 mm The game comprises of a small wooden glazed box in which a silver ball bearing is manipulated through a simple maze littered with military obstacles and battlefield hazards such as mined roads and destroyed bridges. The maze shows the route of the Allied advance to Berlin with cities such as Cologne, Dresden, Hanover and Potsdam along the way. If the advancing army's silver ball is lost down one of the many traps and holes it magically re-appears in the bottom left hand corner allowing the player to try again. The instructions on the verso explain the finer points of a simple but difficult game of manual dexterity. (1)
