**Please note the car has undergone a recommissioning service by Geoff Page. This included new belts, filters, fluids, high pressure fuel pump, brake and clutch master cylinders and brake adjustments. Now offered with a fresh MOT after 3-4 test miles.**One of the 90 examples finished by Ford in the more refined road car specification, just one former keeper and 8,877 miles from new. Ford had been working on a turbocharged machine that could compete with the new breed of 'Group B' Rally cars like the Audi Sport Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16, the Lancia Delta and their remarkable 037. Unusually for Ford, the solution proved elusive and with the Escort RS 1700T failing miserably, they were forced to return to the drawing board and start all over again. The result was the RS200, however, Ford had now become 'late starters' and were effectively three years behind. The car was styled by Ghia and unusually, the bodywork was entrusted to a company who knew a fair bit about building fibreglass cars - Reliant. The chassis engineering was looked after by F1 gurus Tony Southgate and John Wheeler. Ford bosses demanded that it must have four-wheel drive and it was built around a space frame chassis, Kevlar bodywork and a potent mid-mounted engine courtesy of well proven race engine builder, Brian Hart. Add to this an innovative front mounted gearbox for better weight distribution and balance plus a variable torque split differential from Ferguson and you had a real beast of a car.The result was spectacular. At the peak of its powers in the hands of star drivers like Stig Blomqvist the larger 2.1-litre Evo engine was claimed to be pushing out around 650bhp, it was rumoured that even 700/800bhp was used. It looked like Ford finally had the package to win and things were looking promising after Kalle Grundell came home third in the Swedish Rally of 1986, however the fickle finger of fate was soon to be pointed at 'Group B'. Tragedy struck on the opening stage of the Portuguese Rally when Joaquim Santos lost control of his RS200 and sadly three people died and many others were injured. Marc Surer also crashed his RS200 in the Hessen Rally killing his co-driver. This was the beginning of the end for 'Group B' Rallying. Soon after that, Henri Toivonen and his co-driver Sergio Cresto lost their lives on the Tour de Corse when their Lancia Delta left the road. This really was the end of 'Group B' and it was also the end of an era for the fastest, most dangerous, most spectacular period in modern rallying. As a result, after just one year in competition, it was all over for the RS200 so it never got to show off its full potential, however it did prove that it had enormous promise, with many of the cars being spectacularly successful in Rallycross particularly in the hands of Norwegian Martin Schanche.FIA Homologation Rules for 'Group B' required the construction of at least 200 road-legal vehicles and Ford complied with this, building 200 units with enough spare parts for a further 20. Records indicate that 90 of these were eventually to leave the factory finished as road cars.We are pleased to offer this Ford RS200, chassis #0053, which was supplied new by Hendy Ford, Eastleigh to another retail Ford dealer at the time, Nicklens of Fordingbridge, under their parent company Shearing Builders Ltd. The car was first registered on 24th March 1987 and remained with the original owners until July 1997 when the Hendy Group bought it back through their Cosham branch. Since the car’s purchase by our vendor, it has remained within his private Collection of cars and has had no use apart from being put through an MOT that expired in August of 2020. Although the car has not been run during its current tenure it has been carefully stored within a dry heated environment and still stands in time warp condition.Showing just 8,877 miles on the odometer, warranted by its extensive collection of historic MOT and Tax certificates in addition to the aforementioned history, it still boasts its original leather-bound RS200 drivers and maintenance manual. In super original condition, this fabulous RS200 evokes memories of one of the most dramatic eras in rallying history and may well be the missing jigsaw piece in a Ford collector's puzzle.N.B. The car was purchased by our vendor in running condition, but it has since been effectively museum-stored in his heated storage and unused for 6 years - therefore some recommissioning will be needed prior to using the car. Smart Obsidian Black Cosworth-powered 190E, ex-Lotus F1 management car from the Senna era. The Mercedes-Benz 190E (W201) was a compact executive saloon car manufactured from 1982 to 1993. Mercedes had enjoyed some good results competing in rallying, with V8-powered R107 Series Coupés and naturally they were keen to build on this success by taking the 190E on a similar path. Not having the expertise in-house at the time, Mercedes approached British engineering company, Cosworth, to develop a competitive engine for the rally car, however this project took off just as the Audi Quattro, with its all-wheel drive and turbocharger, was launched, making the 2.3 16v appear somewhat outclassed. With a continued desire for the 190 to succeed in high-profile motorsport and also now a state-of-the-art engine with which to do it, Mercedes turned to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) (German Touring Car Championship) motorsport series instead. However, cars racing in this championship had to be based on a road-going model, a minimum number of which had been sold to the public, so Mercedes, therefore, had to put the 190 into series-production with a detuned version of the Cosworth engine. This high-performance model was known as the 190E 2.3-16 and debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1983. In road-going trim, the 2.3-litre 16-valve engine produced 185bhp with acceleration from 0-62mph in less than eight seconds and a top speed of 143mph. The engine is considered to be remarkably flexible with a very flat torque curve and a wide powerband. There were other notable changes over the standard 190 including the bodykit which reduced the drag coefficient to 0.32, one of the lowest CD values on a four-door saloon at the time, whilst also reducing lift at speed. The steering ratio was quicker and the steering wheel smaller than that on other 190s, whilst the fuel tank was enlarged from 55 to 70 litres. The Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox was unique to the 16-valve and featured a 'racing' gear pattern with a 'dog-leg' first gear. An oil cooler was fitted to ensure sufficient oil cooling for the inevitable track use for which many of these cars were destined. The strictly four-seat interior featured Recaro sports seats with strong side bolsters for front and rear passengers and three extra dials, an oil temperature gauge, stopwatch and voltmeter were included in the centre console. The suspension on 16-valve models is very different from the standard 190. As well as being lower and stiffer, it has quicker dampers, larger anti-roll bars, harder bushes, a limited-slip differential and hydraulic self-levelling suspension (SLS) on the rear, allowing the rear ride height to remain constant even when the car is fully loaded. The car presented here is a very special 1985 Mercedes-Benz (W201) 190E 2.3-16V Cosworth, as it was one of two examples supplied new to Team Lotus International in 1986, this era being a particularly testing and significant time in the team’s history. The 190E was to be used by the management team and drivers, which included Gérard Ducarouge, the legendary car designer, technical director and the figure credited with saving Team Lotus, plus Johnny Dumfries and Ayrton Senna, as drivers. Iconic Auctioneers have it on very good authority, directly from Gérard Ducarouge (before he died in 2015), that he clearly recalled the car, spoke highly of it and stated that it was very much used by all team members at this time.Team Lotus had once stood as the dominant force in Formula 1, achieving victory in 71 World Championship races over 19 seasons. However, by the 1986 season, the team was grappling with the loss of its visionary founder. They were striving to provide their star driver, Ayrton Senna, with a competitive car amidst challenging circumstances. The 98T was the answer and a car that was born in the context of the 1986 F1 regulations, unrestricted by boost limitations, qualifying engines surged past 1,000bhp - the highest power outputs recorded in F1 history. The 1986 season represented the pinnacle of the V6 Turbo Era, defined by adrenaline-fueled racing where wheelspin was commonplace even in fifth gear, and qualifying engines were pushed to their limits - sometimes melting as they returned to the pits. Lotus constructed only four 98T cars for the 1986 season, designated chassis numbers one through four. Senna drove chassis #4 in the final eight races, including the legendary Australian Grand Prix, forever etched in F1 history for its dramatic conclusion. This actual 190E was right in the heart of the action at this time, conveying significant team members to meetings, races and no doubt to the social occasions for which the mid-1980s were famous. This early ownership (Team Lotus subsequently sold on the 190E in March 1989 – according to a Team Lotus headed note-paper invoice, in the car’s history file) ensured the car was dutifully cared for, as you’d expect from an F1 team. It has gone on to have a few more enthusiast-owners over the years, each maintaining it to a high level. It is accompanied by a full-service history that includes old bills, MOTs and tax discs. More recently, in December 2020, the car has had its floors, sills and wheel arches repaired professionally. Overall, this is a very good and solid example that is presented in excellent condition, belying its 130,000 miles and is also reported to be running and driving extremely well. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a 190E Cosworth with significant Team Lotus history, a time when the motorsport legend, Senna, was making his way in F1 and this car was there to witness it.Specification Make: MERCEDES-BENZ Model: 190E 2.3-16V COSWORTH Year: 1985 Chassis Number: 2010342F148553 Registration Number: C502 BEX Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 10298320008187 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 130000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
An exceptional second generation Escort RS Turbo with just 29,264 miles from new. Based on the success of the original model, the Series 2 Escort RS Turbo (produced between 1986-1990) was more suited to daily use, whereas the earlier car was a bit of an 'homologation special'. Many new features were introduced for the S2 including utilising the 1,600cc, fuel-injected, CVH engine taken from the S1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garrett T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited-slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE-Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The S2 produced an impressive 132bhp at 5,750rpm, with maximum torque of 133lb/ft produced at 2,750rpm, offering ample performance with a top speed of 125mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. Although on paper these figures were a tad down on the Series 1, the new car was considerably easier to drive quickly and was effectively a faster car.The car presented here is a 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 (1990-spec) first registered HDZ 2288 on 9th November 1989 and supplied new by Lindsay Cars Ltd, an RS main dealer in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. A little later, it moved to Southern Ireland, from where it was imported to the UK in 2017 prior to being offered for sale by ourselves in 2019. At that point it had covered a mere 29,000 miles, corroborated by early supplying dealer Ford service history and many previous MOT Certificates. At the time (November 2019), we described the car as 'An immaculate example in original unrestored condition, with all original panels and an untouched shell, the engine bay is virtually to show standard, the interior is almost completely unmarked and the car has never been modified from new and remains completely standard'. Our vendor was looking for the best he could find when he bought it and has continued to look after the little Ford to a similar standard, if anything, taking the level of detailing a little further. The alloy wheels have never been refurbished and are still wearing their four original Goodyear NCT50 tyres, the spare alloy and original tyre are unused whilst the luggage compartment looks like brand new. The original Ford exhaust was replaced due to age, with a bespoke replica of the original fitted and the brakes were previously overhauled.During the five years in our vendor's ownership, the car has been stored in a 'bubble' at a respected classic car specialist where it is looked after to a high standard. It will be detailed, serviced and freshly MOT'd prior to the auction so will be in immaculate condition and ready to drive away. It's not a secret that high performance Fords from this era are becoming sought after and we take pride in finding some fabulous examples to bring to market, however this is certainly one of the best examples we have seen and we encourage your inspection at the NEC.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS TURBO Year: 1989 Chassis Number: WF0BXXGCABKC87922 Registration Number: G866 ATL Transmission: Manual Engine Number: KC87922 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 29264 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
A stunning AK 427 Cobra that has covered just 1,527 miles from new and remains in commensurate condition. The AC Cobra needs little introduction, Carrol Shelby’s bright idea of shoe-horning a thumping Ford V8 into the svelte AC Ace spawned not only a capable racer – in both early 289 and later 427 form – but also an instant classic. Sadly for the aficionado, few were made in period and even 'Continuation' cars have been produced in mere handfuls over the years. So, what to do if you need brutal power, a stirring V8 soundtrack and an intravenous adrenalin shot? The answer came from the kit car industry, with an array of self-assembly machinery, amongst which the very best rival an original Cobra for excitement – and quite possibly exceed them for build quality. The AK 427, from AK Sportscars of Peterborough, is one such and was introduced in 1990 due to the demand for a ‘quality’ Cobra replica that provided not only the iconic looks of the AC Cobra but also a standard of finish that was industry leading, designed with flexibility in mind with numerous components available dependent on client requirements. This particular 427 has been completed to the very highest of standards, built around a Generation II Chassis with Jaguar running gear, professionally finished in Cerrion Silver with a classic Cobra interior in Bridge of Muir Caledonian Black Hide complemented by a dashboard full of Smiths Classic instruments.Motivation is provided by an LS3 6.2-litre Corvette power unit mated to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox providing endless potential when out on the open road. The attention to detail is exceptional and a credit to the craftsmen that have produced this head turning homage. A well presented MkI racer, previously campaigned at Goodwood, and ready to race again. While officially never called ‘MkI’, this 1950s Jaguar model spearheaded the iconic British company into the ever-growing small luxury car market at the time. In production between 1955 – 1959, these sporting saloons were officially entitled the 'Jaguar 2.4 Litre' and '3.4-Litre', not Jaguar’s finest model naming, however this didn’t stop the later affectionately named MkI, from becoming a piece of influential engineering that helped shape the company’s future.Factory-supplied with the bulletproof 2.4-litre XK120’s twin-cam straight SIX, providing 112bhp, an impressive figure of the time, Jaguar introduced a more powerful version in 1957, the 3.4-Litre boosting performance to a sporty 210bhp, pushing the 0-60 from 11.2 seconds to a spritely 9.1 seconds. These powerful 3.4 saloons quickly became prime contenders for circuit racing.A natural track car, the MkI came to dominate saloon car racing at the time, competing successfully in countless rallies, touring car championships and club saloon racing, attracting notable masters behind the wheel including Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn, Tommy Sopwith and Roy Salvadori. This highly successful and very well-known 1958 Jaguar MkI Competition Car was built and driven successfully by the late Les Ely, a very experienced classic car racer, closely associated with the Jaguar fraternity as a driver and engineer. It's an original UK-supplied, right-hand drive car, finished in the wonderful colour combination of Maroon with a red leather interior, it really looks the part. The car is beautifully built and prepared and subject obviously to pre-season fettling, spanner checks etc. is all but track-ready with the 3.4-litre XK engine producing a proven 273bhp and the interior being modified in true race car fashion with the addition of bucket seats, roll cage, fire extinguisher, safety equipment and various weight-saving measures. Our vendor purchased the car a few years ago with the intention of going historic racing, but after a couple of track-days and a few nerve-racking moments, he realised that racing wasn’t going to be for him and so the car is set to find its next home. We understand, but interested parties should make their own enquiries, that the car is eligible for a plethora of races across Europe, having previously raced at Goodwood Members Meeting in the Sopwith Cup, including the Mike Hawthorn Jaguar Challenge Series and other prestigious events such as the Goodwood Revival, Spa and the Le Mans Classic. This is a well-built, professionally prepared, competitive MkI racer and would make a great entry into the friendly world of Classic Saloon Car racing. **Please note the registration number for this car is LB52 XBM.**Beautifully presented first generation Vanquish 2+2 with less than 27,000 miles. An entirely new Aston Martin for the 21st Century, the V12-engined Vanquish Coupé debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2001. Aston Martin's first power unit of its type, the 5.9-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine (first seen in the DB7 V12 Vantage) developed 460bhp at 6,800rpm, with 400lb/ft of torque available at 5,500 revs. The 6-speed gearbox was controlled by F1-style paddles and could be operated in either of two modes: fully manual or computer-controlled automatic, with a Sport setting available on both. The inventory of standard equipment included almost everything the discerning connoisseur could wish for, while the performance - 190mph and 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds – placed the Vanquish firmly in the supercar class. Dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console, the interior featured Connolly leather upholstery and Wilton carpeting, emphasising the Aston Martin heritage, for despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it - one at a time and by hand. This superb example was supplied new by Grange Motors in 2002 and is exquisitely finished in Forest Green with matching green leather upholstery and was originally optioned from the factory with 2+2 seating, a fire extinguisher, heated front screen, upgraded wing mirrors and front stone guards.Maintained by Aston Martin Works up until 2011, the car was acquired by our late vendor, a friend of Iconic Auctioneers owner, Nick Whale, in that year and he continued to have the car fastidiously maintained by Aston specialists, Bamford Rose, all the way up to his very sad passing in 2020. Since then, the Vanquish has been professionally stored with only occasional use by his widow and consequently still presents superbly. The Aston is accompanied by a comprehensive service and MOT history corroborating the indicated mileage of 26,900 and the condition of the car remains exceptional, as does the value for money that it represents today.NB: The Cherished Registration Number illustrated in our images, PES 51, does not form part of the sale but is available in our automobilia sale - lot 323.SpecificationMake: ASTON MARTINModel: VANQUISHYear: 2002Chassis Number: SCFAX133X2B500411Registration Number: TBATransmission: Paddle ShiftEngine Number: AM3/00451Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 26732 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Green LeatherClick here for more details and images
**Please note the proceeds from this lot will go to the RNLI.**Charity Lot: Offered from Jaguar specialists, Tom Lenthall Ltd, with the hammer price plus Iconic Auctioneers Buyers Premium going to the RNLI, a simply stunning, re-imagined, Jaguar XJ Coupé. Offered without Reserve. Iconic Auctioneers are delighted to support this very interesting charity lot with all proceeds going to the RNLI. The build was a project completed by renowned Jaguar specialists Tom Lenthall Ltd and is now being auctioned in commemoration of Tom’s friend, Emma, who passed away in 2023 from cancer. Affectionately known as ‘Emma, the XJC-R’, this bespoke build has been subject to much media coverage and Jaguar publications over the last year. Various YouTube channels including Drivetribe have featured the XJC-R and has formed a well documented account of this fascinating project and Emma’s story.Basically, the brief from Tom to his technicians was to build a Jaguar XJC Coupé with a nod to modernity, a supercharged engine and modern Jaguar running gear all smoothly blended into the elegant bodywork of Jaguar's 1970s pillarless saloon. With over 400 hours of respected Jaguar knowhow invested in this, to use a modern expression, re-imagined XJ-C, the result is something very special. The original 1977 Coupé had covered less than 100,000 miles and was already a sound example having benefitted from a restoration in the 1990s. It was a great basis to turn this 1970s icon into the refinement of a 1990s Jaguar, starting with the removal of the original 4.2-litre six and its replacement by an AJ16S supercharged six-cylinder offering 322bhp and 378lb/ft mated to a Getrag 290 5-speed manual gearbox. All subframes and suspension are from the mid-1990s X300 XJ with Brembo brakes from the X100 XJR. Other improvements include an Emerald K6 Plus ECU running the fuel-injection and bespoke exhaust system by Fast Road Conversions, with the engine now generating in the region of 370bhp. The full build inventory is too vast to list here but is well documented in the history file and obviously the ten YouTube episodes of 'Jaguar XJC Restomod' will provide lots of answers. In driving terms, this beautiful Coupé is obviously a vast improvement over its heavier 4.2 and V12 stablemates and may well be the way forward in offering the XJ-C, undoubtedly Jaguar's best looking post-war saloon, an extended lease of life.As mentioned before, all proceeds will benefit the RNLI and we cannot think of a more magnanimous gesture by a valued client.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XJC-RYear: 1977Chassis Number: 2J3109BWRegistration Number: YFM 697STransmission: ManualEngine Number: -50387 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 1955 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
A superbly presented, freshly serviced, low-mileage, manual gearbox, 5.3-litre Virage in gleaming Raven Black. Launched at the International Motor Show, Birmingham in October 1988, the sensational newcomer re-stated its Aston Martin V8 forerunner's muscular good looks in the modern idiom, contriving to be slightly narrower yet providing increased interior space. The car was still no lightweight, but with 330bhp on tap courtesy of the trusty V8 engine's new 32-valve top end, was good enough for a top speed approaching 160mph and a 0-60mph time of under seven seconds. Running on unleaded fuel and designed to meet the requirements of a more emission-sensitive world, the fuel-injected, catalytic converter-equipped V8 was suitable for all Aston Martin markets. The Virage continued Aston Martin's tradition of fine craftsmanship with its hand-beaten aluminium body and fine leather upholstery, complementing the highest standards of modern technology applied to the design of chassis and engine. The beautiful 1990 Virage on offer here is a very rare manual gearbox example and has covered a warranted 16,600 miles from new confirmed by its substantial history file. Aston Martin chose a rather unusual colour palette for the Virage when it was introduced, all a bit muted and softly focused for Aston buyer's tastes, however the exception was Raven Black, as we have here, very handsome particularly with a black leather interior, stylish even a touch menacing! The car was purchased by our vendor in 2023 and immediately sent to Charles Hurst Aston Martin in Belfast during September 2023 with our vendor's instructions to go through it completely. There is an invoice from them on file totalling £7,154 covering a major service and lots of small jobs, leaks, gaskets, filters etc. but importantly, five new drive belts and fresh fluids throughout at a mileage of 16,251.The history file contains a large number of documents, AM service and maintenance invoices, old MOTs etc. all carefully filed in its own sleeve and the car is still accompanied by its original spare keys. The Virage, with its brutish good looks, luxurious interior and 5.3-litre V8 engine is coming of age and this superbly presented, low-mileage, manual gearbox example should appeal to any collector of emerging classic cars from the 1990s.NB: The LED odometer display shows an incorrect figure, however, as confirmed by Aston, the manually accessed odometer is correct at 16,600 miles.Specification Make: ASTON MARTIN Model: VIRAGE Year: 1990 Chassis Number: SCFCAM1S2LBR50050 Registration Number: H728 XUV Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 89/50050/M Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 16600 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black leatherClick here for more details and images
Imported by our vendor from California, the Phase II BJ8 was the ultimate iteration of the venerable 'Big Healey'. The Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII was launched in October 1963 and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of all Austin-Healeys ceased. Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys with a Walnut veneer dash, wind-up windows and a 150bhp engine, propelling the car to 60mph in under ten seconds and enabling a top speed of just over 120mph. Improvements to the engine included a revised camshaft, valve springs and twin SU HD8 2 carburettors together with a redesigned exhaust system and servo-assisted brakes. In May 1964, the Phase II was quietly introduced and featured a redesigned rear chassis improving the big Healey's notoriously poor ground clearance.According to its accompanying Heritage Certificate, this splendid Healey 3000 was built between 17th and 20th June 1966 in left-hand drive (North American-market specification), finished in Healey Blue with a navy blue leather interior and fitted with a blue hood. Factory-fitted options are listed as wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, overdrive, Roadspeed tyres, blue tonneau cover, front number plate and one wing mirror. It was earmarked as a ‘Personal Export Delivery to the USA’ and was dispatched on 4th July 1966. Its first owner was not listed but, according to our vendor, it was owned by a Mr George Burkhardt during the 1990s and was sold to Beverly Hills Car Club in 2014 prior to being purchased by our vendor later that year, having seen it in a car showroom in California whilst on holiday in the States. The Phase II BJ8 was the final development of the legendary ‘Big Healey’ and this example presents particularly well. It retains its original engine and the chassis number matches the Heritage Certificate. The indicated mileage is 53,645 which, looking at the car’s overall condition, may well be correct but naturally can’t be warranted. According to our vendor 'the only thing that has been changed on the car in my ownership is the hood which was custom made by a specialist in 2015. The original hood had severe sun damage with several holes, it was not repairable unfortunately. The hood operation is the best I have ever experienced in a sports car as it can be erected whilst sitting in the car and has just two clips to fix. New tyres were fitted last year'.The bodywork seems in excellent condition for its age with only a couple of small areas of sun damage, the seating is in navy blue leather with contrasting piping, the engine bay appears tidy and the recent bespoke soft top is impressive. It’s accompanied by its V5C, various invoices, the US ‘Pink Slip’ and its most recent MOT ('No Advisories') which expired in June 2018 since when the car has covered just 1,506 miles. This delightful left-hand drive BJ8 has everything going for it - classic colours, chrome wire wheels, overdrive, four seats and years of caring ownership. We invite and encourage your inspection at our NEC sale.Specification Make: AUSTIN-HEALEY Model: 3000 MKIII BJ8 Year: 1966 Chassis Number: HBJ8L36929 Registration Number: GFX 374D Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 29K/RU/H11564 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 53645 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: BlueClick here for more details and images
One of the most iconic Touring Cars from the 'Group A' period of the BTCC and probably one of the most original examples. Iconic Auctioneers are delighted to be asked to present to market this significant piece of British Motorsport history - Tim Harvey’s 'Labatt's' RS500 from the 1989 and 1990 BTCC Seasons. Built by the renowned Andy Rouse Engineering team for the 1989 season, this was a front-running car during the 1989 BTCC season, achieving two wins and third overall in 'Class A'. At the end of the year, the car was shipped to Macau to take part in the annual end of season event and running the Watsons Water livery, this very car won the Macau event with Tim at the wheel. After it’s success in Macau, the same car was used by Tim for the 1990 season, this time with the updated Labatt’s livery achieving third in Class again and fourth overall in the Championship. The car has remained in this original livery as it ended 1990, making it probably one of the most original BTCC 'Group A' examples. After the 1990 season, the car remained in private hands before being shipped out to Australia 2008, where it did only one race in Touring Car Masters. In 2011, it was bought by renowned UK racer, Paul Smith and shipped back to these shores. Paul race-prepared the car for big events like the Silverstone Classic and Gold Cup at Oulton Park and shared the drive with its original driver, Tim Harvey.During Paul’s ownership, a new engine was fitted with modern engine management system (original ARE stamped head and original ECU included) and the renowned ex-Mountune engineer, Dave Hill, has looked after the engine.More recently, the current enthusiast owner has invested in the car to keep it in ready to go mechanical condition. Indeed, last year the car was ran at Brands Hatch at the Touring Car event and was driven round the track in a demonstration run by Tim Harvey. This year, Jonny Smith featured the car on his YouTube Channel, The Late Brake Show, when Tiff Needell drove the car around Mallory Park, a video we highly recommend watching (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqC366iJu8Q).The current owner sends the car to AWS for new oils and filters and inspection every time it runs. The 'Labatt's' now runs Ohlins shocks, all set up by Mardi Gras and all the original shocks are included (Spax). Two sets of original wheels are also included along with a new set on the car with new tyres fitted from when Tim drove it last year at Brands Hatch.Other than these practical recent additions, the car is seen to be totally original, all original paint and graphics, original seat, exactly how Tim finished racing the car in 1990. The vendor had the car ceramic-coated inside and out in the interest of preservation. It lives in a heated bubble since it joined his Collection a few years ago.Due to the fluid nature of Motorsport where constant development is the norm, it’s extremely rare to come across an unrestored 'Group A' racing car with a straight line of ownership and assured provenance, making this a rare find for any collector. Combine this with the fact it could be entered and raced at a variety of high quality events across the world makes this perhaps an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a significant piece of British Motorsport history.Photo Credit; With thanks to Evo Magazine.Specification Make: FORD Model: RS500 Year: 1989 Chassis Number: NA Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
Elegant left-hand drive 120 Coupé, powered by an XK140 'S-spec' engine and classically presented in Jaguar Opalescent Silver. This particular Jaguar XK120 Coupé was originally shipped to the USA in 1952 before distribution through Jaguar Cars New York, remaining there for some time before returning to the UK in 1990, at which point a schedule of works was required to bring the XK back to a standard befitting of such an elegant Grand Tourer.Over the following two years, the body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in Jaguar Opalescent Silver but not before new doors and an alloy boot lid were fitted. Mechanically everything was thoroughly checked and overhauled, including the fitting of a slightly later and more powerful XK140 'S-spec' engine fitted with a C-Type head. Various other works were also completed at this time, including the fitting of a stainless steel exhaust system, a replacement fuel tank with Facet fuel pump, a new wiring loom and woodwork refinished by Classic Veneers.More recently recommissioned after a period of inactivity, the Jaguar now presents extremely well and with a clean bill of health, is ready to be used once again as intended, be that out on the open road, gracing the show field or being left-hand drive it's particularly suitable for European touring. Whatever your requirements, this very sensibly guided XK certainly warrants your early inspection which we welcome and encourage.Specification Make: JAGUAR Model: XK120 FHC Year: 1952 Chassis Number: 680257 Registration Number: FSK 697 Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 23174 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: Red HideClick here for more details and images
Offered without Reserve and from the Grand Tourers Collection, a smart example and showing less than 70,000 miles. The Grand Tourers Collection was curated by a now deceased gentleman, who amassed some 38 cars at one stage. Each car stands on its own merits, and represents an era of stylish roadsters and hand-built coupés. Offered at No Reserve, the cars are worthy of serious attention. Some cars need no introduction and the Jaguar E-Type is no exception. The Series 2 Jaguar E-Types that were produced from 1969 to 1971 can be identified by their open headlights (no longer with glass covers), a wrap-around rear bumper with the taillights now underneath and the front indicators were larger and similarly repositioned below the slightly heavier front bumpers. The cooling was much improved helped by the enlarged 'mouth'. Series 2 cars also feature twin electric fans and uprated brakes. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a ribbed appearance and, for US-spec cars, twin Stromberg carburettors were used. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with flick switches being substituted by rocker switches to meet US-regulations.The car we have before us today is accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate that states it was built on the 1st October 1970 and factory finished in British Racing Green with beige leather and a black Everflex vinyl roof. With its five-speed manual gearbox it was destined for the United States and distributed there British Leyland, New York.Repatriated on the 1st June 2017 joining the 38 car Collection of the previous owner, as stated by the accompanying V5C. A C16, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox Cabriolet with less than 57,000 miles from new. It is often said that each decade received the Porsche 911 it deserved and yet it remains today the only sports car that still retains styling elements that are identifiable 60 years on. Launched in 1994, the 993 Series marked the end of air-cooled 911 production and Porsche’s engineers redesigned their standard-bearing model from the ground-up, to such an extent that only around 20% of its parts were carried over from the previous generation. British designer, Tony Hatter’s, penmanship effortlessly combined subtlety and road presence for a changing demographic with an expansive option list to match the individual’s enthusiasm at a time when the right image was deemed as important as performance. On offer here is a 'C16' UK-supplied right-hand drive 993 Cabriolet fitted with the desirable manual gearbox. First registered in June 1995, it has covered less than 57,000 miles since then and has clearly been well looked after, with the most recent service in September 2024 by Sam Lander Porsche Engineering, ensuring that the car is ready for its next lucky owner. The 911 is accompanied by the original owners book pack and service book in their original leather wallet and a selection of maintenance and service history invoices. The Porsche has been looked after by a mixture of Porsche main dealers in its early years and in more recent times, by independent specialists such as Project Nine, Tom Ferguson and Sam Lander Porsche Engineering.Finished in Iris Blue Metallic, the car sits on 17" Porsche-crested ‘Cup 2’ alloy wheels and the comprehensive specification also includes a deployable rear spoiler, electric folding convertible roof, tinted windscreen, wind deflector, electrically adjustable hardback sports seats and a trip computer. The original radio has been replaced with a modern JVC audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The eagle-eyed amongst you will also see that the interior has been professionally retrimmed in blue and cream quilted leather, with cream Porsche crests embroidered on the seats’ headrests. This freshly serviced, air-cooled example sends it’s power to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, meaning every box is ticked here for the true 911 enthusiast. Always a rare sight on UK roads, this low-mileage, Scotia White Evo V GSR is offered with a very tempting guide. Mitsubishi had enjoyed much success in rallying all around the world since 1973 with their Gallant, Lancer and Starion, however in 1992, the decision was made to fully commit to winning the World Rally Championship (WRC). Utilising the best of the technologies established through previous years, including their much refined four-wheel drive S-AWC system (Super-All Wheel Control), the Lancer GSR Evolution model series was launched. True to its name, the series has undergone an ongoing evolution process ever since its introduction, with improvements in engine performance and handling leading to the Evolution II in 1993 and the Evolution III in 1995.Following the introduction of the new Lancer road car model which debuted major improvements in styling and performance, the Lancer GSR Evolution IV was launched in 1996, boasting more power and ever more innovative technology including their new AYC (Active Yaw Control) adaptive handling enhancement system. The Evolution V continued the process with a further increase in engine torque and substantially improved handling thanks to a wider track and upgraded Brembo braking. Its 2-litre, DOHC, intercooler-turbocharged, four-cylinder engine now used an upgraded intercooler, enlarged nozzle area in the twin-scroll turbocharger, lighter pistons, an upgraded radiator and oil-cooler to produce 280bhp. Launched in January 1998 and produced for only a year, the Lancer Evolution V took up the motorsport mantle, at least in terms of the WRC. A new ruling allowing a bigger body gave Mitsubishi the opportunity to extend the previous models platform, increasing brake and wheel size, adding 10mm to its track and displaying, for the first time, flared arches and much more aggressive styling. Its now widely accepted that finding credible examples of the Evolution V is becoming increasingly hard. In Japan, Evos were only produced by the Mitsubishi factory in five basic trims, RS, RS2, GT, GT-A or GSR. This is an exceptionally rare GSR variant, the road-going version of the out and out stripped RS competition edition. Featuring climate-control, electric windows and mirrors, sports seats and alloy wheels, this Scotia White GSR sports the correct Recaro Sports seats and is believed to be one of under 100 produced, making it an exceptionally rare car.Imported from Japan as a Grade 4 car with an impeccable history in 2017, when we understand that that the odometer was converted to miles with certification. It has been within our own vendor's private Collection for the last couple of years. This desirable Evo V comes to sale in superb condition and with such an attractive guide it should readily create a stir amongst JDM collectors.Specification Make: MITSUBISHI Model: EVO V GSR Year: 1998 Chassis Number: CP9A0006060 Registration Number: R583 LVE Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 84082 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images
One of just 612 examples supplied to the UK, fitted with Truckman Aerotop rear and superbly presented with just 38,839 miles warranted by the original service book. Offered without Reserve. With an interior reputedly inspired by the Frog Prince fairy tale as a reference to Volkswagen’s partnership with Å koda, the limited edition Felicia Fun was launched in 1997 and produced until 2001, a huge departure from the marque’s usual staid and sensible family vehicles. Built at the Å koda factory in Vrchlabí, Czech Republic, the intention was to produce just 300 units for the UK-market. As much a surprise that Å koda produced the car in the first place was that the car was very well received in the UK-market despite the vehicles design somewhat ill-suited to UK climate. In total 612 cars were sold into the UK.All cars were factory finished in Yellow Fun paint and featured the ingenious sliding rear bulkhead to reveal two folding rear seats which were exposed to the elements. UK buyers thankfully were offered respite from the poor weather with a number of factory optional additional roof combinations, such as the Truckman Aerotop detachable rear hardtop. Fitted with the time-proven 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a power output of 73bhp, the Felicia Fun had a top speed of 101mph and could do 0-60mph in 12.5 seconds.Supplied new on 26th July 1999 by Å koda main agent, MJL of Surbiton, Surrey, the interior matched the exterior in what could be described today, retrospectively, as eccentric. Never seen on a Å koda before or since, the fabulously kitsch interior combines the aforementioned frog motif cloth inserts to the seating and matched with yellow leather bolsters, door cards, steering wheel and gear stick. The utilitarian dashboard is brightened by the yellow dials and the odometer reading showed 38,839 miles at the time of cataloguing. The rear cargo area is fitted with wooden strips that show very little signs of wear, as does the rest of the car, which was serviced less than 700 miles ago.Presented to auction with the original and well stamped service book, historical receipts, sales brochure, V5C, a fresh MOT will be issued for the sale, whilst the rather fun (pun intended) private registration number is generously included. It is important to note that constrained by the prior dominance of Soviet doctrine, this whimsical motorcar was designed, built and marketed within a decade of the collapse of the USSR and therefore an interesting entry in the history of the motor car.Specification Make: SKODA Model: FELICIA Year: 1999 Chassis Number: TMBEGF677X7080186 Registration Number: T70 FUN Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 771792AEE Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 38839 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey/YellowClick here for more details and images
Beautiful 550 Maranello with Ferrari Classiche Certification and just under 23,000 miles from new.Firmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest modern-era big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of elegant lines and legendary front-mounted 12-cylinder engine meant that these cars had the potential to become instant classics. Following in the footsteps and sharing the DNA of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona, the 550 Maranello is inevitability compared to its forbear. Few front-engined Ferraris have quite justified that comparison quite like the 550 Maranello.Styled by Pininfarina, like its illustrious predecessor, the 550 Maranello was similarly proportioned, adopting the classical combination of long bonnet, a small cabin and a truncated tail. Classic Ferrari styling cues include a bonnet air scoop and hot air outlets behind the front wheel-arches recalling the great Competizione Ferraris of the past, whilst the rear incorporates Ferrari's characteristic twin circular lights. The heart of any Ferrari is its engine, and the 550 Maranello's 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 develops 485bhp at 7,000rpm. The powertrain was housed in a tubular steel chassis, to which was attached aluminium coachwork, whilst the all-independent suspension incorporated dual-mode (normal/sports) damping, switch-selectable by the driver, which was complemented by speed-sensitive power-assisted steering. The 6-speed manual gearbox complements a slightly more even torque curve ensuring that the power delivery was a little less frenetic, whilst excellent weight distribution and delightful road manners make the 550 Maranello a truly refined driving machine, whilst still capable of almost 200mph. Finished in classic Rosso Corsa with a cream leather interior, this beautiful 550 Maranello was delivered new in the UK via Stratstone, Manchester to James Bird of Stone in Shropshire. Having resided with its second owner in Copenhagen, the Ferrari returned to the UK and remained with its next owner until 2014. Offered without Reserve and from the Grand Tourers Collection, this handsome motor car has an odometer reading of just 30,628 miles. The Grand Tourers Collection was curated by a now deceased gentleman, who amassed some 38 cars at one stage. Each car stands on its own merits, and represents an era of stylish roadsters and hand-built coupes. Offered at No Reserve, the cars are worthy of serious attention. The TD21 was conceived in 1956 and was quite a departure from the lovely, but rather 'post-war' TC21 however, on its arrival in dealer's showrooms, it quickly set about changing established views of the Alvis. Following the loss of coachbuilders Mulliner and Tickford (who were now tied to other companies), Alvis turned to the Swiss coachbuilder, Graber, whose tradition of producing sleek, modern and very elegant saloons and dropheads proved a good fit in terms of the way Alvis saw their future. Graber first presented this new style to the Alvis board in late 1957 who were very impressed with the Swiss company's flowing design and commissioned the body to be built on the new TD chassis. To ease logistical problems, Park Ward of London, built the Graber designed bodies in the UK.The Alvis Three Litre TD21 Series I was produced between the end of 1958 and April 1962 and was powered by the TC's 2,993cc engine, uprated by 15bhp to 115 as a result of an improved cylinder head design and an increased compression ratio. A new 4-speed gearbox from the Austin-Healey 100/6 was incorporated, whilst the suspension remained similar to the car's predecessor, independent at the front using coil springs and leaf springs at the rear, but the track was increased slightly and a front anti-roll bar added. From 1959, the all drum brake set up was changed to discs at the front retaining drums at the rear. This handsome and luxurious motorcar was built in 1959 and presents today in gleaming metallic green paintwork with what appears to be the original, charmingly patinated interior. The odometer reading shows 30,628 miles. The history file includes maintenance receipts, the V5C and an advisory-free MOT valid until 7th October 2025. Wonderfully restored first generation 240Z, Datsun's 1970's flagship, looking as good today as it ever did. The Datsun 240Z was unveiled to the press in October 1969 and made its public appearance a few days later at the Tokyo Motor Show. To say it was well received would be an understatement, with its stylish modernity, well set-out interior and torquey six-cylinder engine. As had become apparent during its creation, the Datsun 240Z represented all the requirements of sporting drivers by fulfilling their desires for superb styling, power and safety whilst providing them with the most thrilling and enjoyable ride available in any car at the time. According to Classic and Sportscar, the 'Z' was 'In a different technical league' whilst Road and Track Magazine noted 'Datsun have reinvented the sports car with the sleek, civilised, sexy and sporty 240Z'.The new car was powered by a lusty 2.4-litre, straight-six, overhead cam engine developing around 150bhp, resulting in a 0-60mph time of eight seconds and a top speed of 125mph. The well spaced 5-speed gear ratios made the most of the engine's torque whilst retaining the ability to achieve in excess of 30mpg, a figure that put the 'Z' ahead of many of its contemporaries and on a par with Porsche 911s of the time. The car featured independent suspension all round, with MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman links at the rear. Rack and pinion steering and front disc brakes meant that the 240Z was a thoroughly modern package. As time passed, the 240Z evolved into the 260Z and later the 280Z, however it's the original 240Z that continues to captivate enthusiasts with its timeless elegance and minimalist design. The 240Z not only established Datsun (now Nissan) as a credible Japanese sports car brand in the early 1970s but also solidified its presence on the American automotive map. Today, the 240Z holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts and collectors alike, representing the epitome of the Japanese classic car.Dating from late 1972, although first registered in 1973, the 240Z we present here has been subject to a sympathetic, photo-documented, bare-metal restoration by its long term owner, retaining as many original parts as possible. It now presents in, what we believe is, Grigio Silverstone, with a black leather and needle cord interior, an impressive engine bay and refurbished Wolfrace alloys. Our vendor states that 'after 20 years of ownership that there are no gremlins anywhere, it is and has always been garaged, fully Waxoyled, matching numbers and a comprehensive history dating back to the 1970s'.Worthy of a space in any Collection or enthusiast's hands, whether as a confidence-inspiring driver or a simply stunning showpiece, this 240Z represents the perfect opportunity to own what is one of the finest examples we have seen for some time.Specification Make: DATSUN Model: 240Z Year: 1972 Chassis Number: HS30102522 Registration Number: UYE 909M Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 45239 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
Unleash your spirit of adventure with this Longbridge-built Mini Moke. Offered without reserve. The Mini Moke was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis at the same time as the Mini saloon and used an identical engine, transmission and suspension parts. Although the pre-production prototype came out in 1959, full-scale production did not start until 1964. It may seem strange to design and build a vehicle with no clear idea what you are going to do with it, but this was BMC in the 1960s. It was initially mooted as a parachute-dropped utility vehicle for the British Army, but this notion failed at the first hurdle when they rejected it due to its low ground clearance. It was then decided that it would make an excellent tool for farmers and as a light commercial vehicle. This was partially scuppered yet again when it was rated as a passenger car and therefore subject to Purchase Tax. It did however gain a strong following and became a cult classic after featuring in the TV series, The Prisoner, and found its true role as a fun beach car at which it excelled. Some 14,500 Mokes were produced at BMC's Longbridge plant between 1964 and 1968, before production moved to Australia where a further 26,000 were made between 1966 and 1981. Another 10,000 were made in Portugal before production finally ceased in 1993.On offer here is a genuine, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, Longbridge-built Moke that’s been privately owned by a close friend of Iconic Auctioneers, since 2016 with only light use. The 998cc engine was once subject to an engine rebuild by Laranca Engineering and the Moke itself has been subject to an older restoration.Finished in white with a black hood (hardly used and in good condition), the car sits on a set of genuine Minilite wheels. There is a Jerry can and spare wheel mounted at the rear with a tow bar and the car is accompanied by a folder containing some history, an original brochure, the Moke book and some spares.Excitingly offered without Reserve, this is a British classic to be enjoyed with friends and family, always attracting the right attention and welcome at any classic car event or garden party.Specification Make: AUSTIN Model: MINI MOKE Year: 1965 Chassis Number: AB1677058 Registration Number: ENJ 809C Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 88344 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images
Offered without Reserve from The Recreation Collection, blip the throttle and you'll turn the heads of those not already looking. The Recreation Collection was assembled by a gentleman, now deceased, who had a passion for cars, owning at one stage some 38 vehicles. A particular enthusiasm of his was for replicas of the rarest and therefore most expensive examples. Judging by the receipts on file and the high prices paid in period, he could’ve bought at least one real example for the price he paid for the others! These are special cars and worthy of serious consideration, offered, tantalisingly as they are without Reserve. The most expensive of all cars when sold at auction yet the subject of very few replicas. Based on the very capable and famously nippy Mazda MX-5 which was first registered on 12th May 1995, and retains its original wallet with hand book and service book. Superbly preserved 1602, just 3,349 miles in 49 years. BMW launched its 'Neue Klasse' ('New Class') range of compact saloons and coupés in 1962 and it is no exaggeration to say that they were the cars that saved the company. Up to that point they had been best known for making beautifully engineered but incredibly complex and expensive machines that nobody outside of Germany could either afford or understand. With its crisp, modernist styling, brilliant chassis dynamics and superb engineering, the Neue Klasse changed all that at a stroke and established BMW as a truly international brand. Although it was the 'pocket rocket' 2-litre 2002 that everyone raved about, the smaller 1600-2 and 1500-2 were arguably better cars, being better balanced and cheaper to own and run. An economy version of the 2002, the 1600-2 was launched at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1966 and was sold through 1975, with its name simplified to 1602 in 1971. With 85bhp from its M10 engine, the 1602 won friends for its excellent dynamics and brilliant handling. Now, this really is special. Purchased on 1st January 1975 from Normand (Bromley) Ltd by Mr M J Ledger, finished in Schwarz (086) with a cream leather and cord interior, this gleaming BMW 1602 was to remain in his possession until it became the property of its second owner on 11th May 2016. He, in turn, added it to his Collection using it only occasionally until it was purchased by our vendor in 2019 to add to his Collection of desirable classics. Still in remarkably original condition, this delightful little 'Beemer' has covered a total of 3,349 miles since New Years Day 49 years ago.The car's history file contains the full book pack, original service book, sales brochure, Haynes Manual and copy of the original V5. A Normand (Bromley) Ltd tax disc and leather key ring will also be found in their original paper bag! It's fortunate for the rest of us that there are people who will buy a new car, use it lightly on dry days, return it to their garage and strive consistently over the years to keep the car in, as close as possible, the condition in which it arrived and we would guess that this little BMW has belonged to three of those. An exceptional find and worthy of a place in any Collection.Specification Make: BMW Model: 1602 Year: 1975 Chassis Number: 3560545 Registration Number: GMY 174N Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 3560545 Odometer Reading: 3349 Miles Make: Interior Colour: Cream leatherClick here for more details and images
The Beetle was a masterpiece of innovation and economics - but never lost its sense of fun and character; this delightfully original example would do any enthusiast proud. The Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle changed the world. Like the globally successful Ford Model T, it was a simple, properly-engineered automobile that was inexpensive enough to bring motoring to the masses. And like the Model T, it was strong and reliable and was built around the world in mind-boggling quantities. The Beetle’s heritage goes back to the pre-war KdF-Wagen, whose name stood for Kraft durch Freude and translates loosely to ‘strength through joy’. Conceived from the experiments of Porsche Design’s Project 12, it used a revolutionary rear-mounted engine with Aluminium and Magnesium castings. With a simple yet effective platform chassis, the car underwent countless revisions and prototypes before, eventually, the Series 38 design would embody the Beetle as we know it.With 40bhp from its 1192cc horizontally-opposed, four-cylinder engine with Solex carburettor, a 4-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with upper and lower control arms and transverse torsion bars, rear suspension by swing axles with trailing arms and torsion bar and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, it was indeed properly-engineered.VW’s Beetle soon became ubiquitous all over the world, even in the United States, where horsepower had always ruled. Over the years, details changed, and displacement increased, but the basic look remained. When production ceased in Mexico in 2003, 21,529,464 had been built in plants on every continent but Antarctica. The car presented here is a right-hand drive 1963 Volkswagen Beetle finished in Birch Green, an original and unrestored example that comes with extensive history and service records. In more recent times, it's been treated to an engine rebuild and an overhaul of the electrical system, with our vendor stating that the body, similarly, is in ‘excellent condition’, with in excess of £12,000 worth of invoices to back this up. The indicated mileage of 66,904 (at the time of cataloguing) would seem wholly commensurate with its well-preserved condition.Volkswagen's Beetle is an important part of automotive history and this very wholesome example would make an ideal first classic for an enthusiast at a most reasonable outlay.Specification Make: VOLKSWAGEN Model: BEETLE 1200 Year: 1963 Chassis Number: 5711101 Registration Number: ADE 402A Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 7886379 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 66904 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Green Cloth Click here for more details and images
Just one previous owner, 28,873 miles from new and finished in the rare colour of Ford Aubergine. The Escort RS Cosworth was an 'homologation special' and its sole role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their rally cars to ensure success in International Rallying. Because it was smaller, lighter and more nimble than any of the Sierras, the combination of Cosworth power, four-wheel drive transmission and an effective aerodynamic package made it a Rally Giant in all conditions. Success duly followed between 1993 and 1998 in the World Rally Championship for manufacturers, but the road cars were very rare - with just 2,500 'homologation special' versions made, becoming known as 'big turbo cars', all capable of 150mph and easily identified by the aptly named 'Whale Tail' rear spoiler. On offer here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Escort RS Cosworth with only one former keeper and 28,873 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. First registered on 31st August 1995, the car is finished in the rare colour of Ford Aubergine with a Recaro trimmed Polaris Hex Upholstery along with deep pile carpets and carpeted door bins.Being a 'Lux', the car is equipped with opening rear quarter windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen, heated washer jets, 3-spoke leather-covered steering wheel, central double locking, tailgate release, lights on warning, rear centre armrest, rear head restraints, electric sunroof, electric windows, with the factory fitted Ford radio cassette alongside the factory upgrade 2040 CD player. It sits on original Ronal soft-spoke 8x16 genuine Ford alloy wheels in excellent condition shod with Toyo Proxie 225/45ZR16 tyres all round. The car was supplied new by Ford RS dealers, Bristol Street Motors in Cheltenham and is complete with its dealer book pack containing the service history as follows:1,870miles - 18-10-19959,511 miles - 15-05-199619,854 miles - 01-03-199724,593 miles - 26-09-2008 including cambelt kit28,824 miles - 14-06-2022The car is accompanied by three keys, including the 'Red' master key, and the aforementioned service history. This is a low ownership, low-mileage example finished in a rare colour and is therefore an opportunity not to be missed.NB; This vehicle will be issued with a fresh MOT prior to the sale.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS COSWORTH Year: 1995 Chassis Number: WF0BXXGKABSE95948 Registration Number: N896 PEG Transmission: Manual Engine Number: SE95948 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 28873 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Introduced in October 1968 and in production until December 1974, the two-door van version of Ford's first generation Escort became a stalwart of small businesses everywhere, peppering every high street in the UK in the early 1970s. Built at Halewood in Liverpool, some 1,082,472 managed to find homes before the arrival of the Mk2 in early 1975. Most were powered by Ford's ultra-reliable 1,098cc Kent OHV four-cylinder with a single carburettor and a five-bearing crank offering a steady 48bhp, quite enough for most applications. Finished in Ford Marine Royal Blue, it was first registered on 20th March 1974 to the British MOD-NAAFI, transport department in London who used it for deliveries to military bases for the next four years until it was surplus to requirements. It was subsequently purchased by a Mr Edward Hatton on 3rd July 1978 and kept it in his caring ownership until 2006. A very special find, a desirable BRG, late production, pre-injection Mk V Cooper, ordered and purchased brand new by our vendors and just 9,712 miles. Following the original's demise in 1971, John Cooper sold his own modified Minis under the Mini Cooper name from the mid-1980s before Rover's acquisition of the rights made it possible to officially re-launch the model in July 1990. The new Mini Cooper was based on the Mini 30, the most luxuriously equipped limited edition Mini to date, but fitted with the 1,275cc MG Metro A-Series engine rather than the 30's 998cc unit. The Mini Cooper Mk V, as it became known, remained on carburettors until September 1991 when they were fitted with SPi (single port) throttle body fuel-injection and entitled the Mk VI although non-Cooper cars continued in Mk V spec until the following year. This remarkable little 1991 Rover Mini Cooper 1275 was ordered new by our vendors from Mann Egerton & Co Ltd, 151 Abbey Lane, Leicester, LE4 5QY in desirable British Racing Green and optioned with a factory-fitted sunroof. It was built in mid-summer 1991 and first registered on 1st August 1991, making it one of the last of the Mk V carburettor cars. Delightfully original, having covered just 9,712 miles from new with its only owner, it has never previously been offered for sale on the open market. It's supplied with its original plastic pouch, Rover Owner Information & Service Record with three stamps in the book, Mini Cooper owners handbook, Rover In Car-Entertainment booklet, AA members handbook 1990/1991, original Rover Service Interval Requirements sheet, old MOT certificates back to 1997, the original spare wheel and toolkit and a spare key. A C16, UK-supplied, right-hand drive example benefitting from a recent body and mechanical restoration. First time on the market since 1989. Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program and it was the period 'Group 4' homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3-litre Carrera RSR engine in road trim - a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978, the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3-litres, gaining an intercooler in the process, power increased to 300bhp and the top speed went up to 160mph.But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of reaching 100mph from a standstill in a remarkable 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model whilst the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.On offer here is a C16 UK-supplied right-hand drive 930 Turbo that’s being offered publicly for the first time since 1989. Finished in Guards Red with a black leather interior, the 911 has benefited from significant recent expenditure following a long period of being off the road in dry storage. The body and mechanicals have been comprehensively rebuilt or restored with invoices in the file amounting to over £50,000. The body was taken back to bare metal and superbly refinished in classic Guards Red, a painstaking process which in itself generated an invoice in excess of £25,000. The black leather interior had remained in excellent condition and was reused, a great choice when possible as an existing interior with negligible wear tends to fit and feel that much better without the inevitable stiffness of a brand new interior. A look at our images will illustrate the sheer quality of the work carried out and justify the significant investment with the car's history file containing all the relevant invoices. The indicated mileage at the time of cataloguing was 79,396 and the car is accompanied by its original Porsche book pack, three sets of keys, old MOTs and tax discs along with the aforementioned invoices for the recent restoration. The last stamp in the service book was placed there by Sam Lander Porsche Engineering in August 2024, however its immediate predecessor was way back in 1989 when the mileage was 71,895, meaning that this remarkable Turbo has only covered 7,500 miles in the past 35 years. This beautiful, classically presented 930 Turbo represents a wonderful opportunity to own a highly useable example of one of these iconic German coupés.NB; This vehicle will be issued with a fresh MOT prior to the sale.Specification Make: PORSCHE Model: 911 TURBO Year: 1980 Chassis Number: 93A0070336 Registration Number: PVL 253V Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 6700331 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
An outstanding Land Rover Defender110 'Spectre' homage fresh from extensive rebuild. Built in the style that has become synonymous with James Bond and Spectre, spawning a variety of Defenders of differing specifications, with this particular example receiving the attention of Land Rover specialists, Bespoke Defenders in Harrogate, where a scheduled period of works has been completed bringing this 'Spectre'-inspired Defender back to the road. Now finished in a verdant shade of Lamborghini Green Metallic complemented by gloss black arches and bespoke wing tops covering the Spectre Beadlock wheels and tyres that, combined with the external roll cage, make any Defender of this type instantly recognisable. Internally, the once spartan interior is now adorned with bespoke leather trim throughout which is accentuated by a full Ebony Suede interior package, gloss black centre dash facia and colour coded seat belts all highlighted by the Billet Aluminium gear and vent knobs and other stainless steel accents. Clearly all this work would be of no benefit unless the Land Rover was mechanically enhanced, resulting in the TD5 power plant receiving a full engine refresh and remap with gasses exiting through a stainless steel exhaust system. Finally, to enhance the overall look, the running gear and suspension have been further developed to provide the lift required to accommodate those look-defining wheels and tyres. With minor use since completion, this particular 'Spectre' Homage presents superbly and is ready to turn heads out on the open road once again. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the in-depth build and quality of finish on this Bespoke Defender.Specification Make: LAND ROVER Model: DEFENDER 110 TD5 Year: 2005 Chassis Number: SALLDHF575A695900 Registration Number: AV55 LZO Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 15P09200B Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 100928 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
Offered without reserve from the Recreation Collection, this Aristocat was built and registered by Autotune in 2008, sporting a 2.5-litre Mk2 Jaguar engine and a Moss gearbox, substantial upgrades were made in 2013. . The Recreation Collection was assembled by a gentleman, now deceased, who had a passion for cars, owning at one stage some 38 vehicles. Judging by the receipts on file and the high prices paid in period, he could’ve bought at least one real example for the price he paid for the others! Engineered from the ground-up, the intention was to make an affordable recreation of the XK140 Coupé. Manufactured by Autotune in 2008 using the engine from Jaguar Mk 2 Saloon and a Moss gearbox, the Aristocat had a well-trimmed interior within a fibreglass shell fabricated and painted to the highest quality.Registered as an Autotune Aristocat on 1st July 2008, the car received substantial upgrades in 2013 that run to an exhaustive list but includes re-chromed bumpers and overiders, Motalita steering wheel, front and rear XK140 badges, headlamp bezels, the list goes on.
