Omega. A rare and important stainless steel manual wind chronograph bracelet watchModel: Speedmaster Professional 'Racing Dial'Reference: 145.012Date: Purchased 2nd December 1969Movement: 17-jewel Cal.321 manual wind, column wheel chronograph, No.26078428Dial: Black, luminous baton hour markers with red accents, white outer 1/5th second divisions, subsidiary dials at 3, 6 and 9 for seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour recording, red pointed baton hands with luminous inserts, centre chronograph handCase: Brushed and polished tonneau form, screw down back, black tachymetre 'DON' insert to bezel, crown flanked by twin pushers, No.26048428Strap/Bracelet: Brushed and polished 1039 Omega link Buckle/Clasp: Signed folding clasp, stamped 3 69Signed: Case, dial & movementSize: 41mm Accompaniments: Omega box, outer card, International Guarantee Footnotes:Despite being known as the Moon Watch today, the Speedmaster was initially Omega's take on a chronograph wristwatch to be worn and used by racing drivers, originally released in 1957. The current lot features a 'Racing Dial', recognisable by the 'alternating' minute track to the outside. Unlike most minute tracks, this iteration is split into intervals that protrude in and out from the dial edge. They take this particular form in order to make them as visible and easily-readable at a glance as possible, handy for the driver or navigator using it for its intended purpose. The 145.012 Red Racing Dial Speedmaster is one of the rarest Omega watches ever produced. So rare are they that at one point they were assumed to be prototypes that mistakenly left the factory. There are two types, one with 'Professional' to the dial and one without, referred to as 'Pre-Professional.' This example is a Professional and recent estimates put the total production numbers for this iteration at just 5-10. Alongside the white alternating minute track, it is the red hour markers, teamed with red hands, which marks out these incredibly rare watches. This example comes from the son of the original owner. As he recounts it, his father was prompted by his employer to visit a jeweller of his choice to select a watch thanking him for 50 years of service. On attending a small family-run jeweller in Hamilton, a town in the west of Scotland, he chose the Speedmaster, unaware of its rarity, as was the jeweller presumably. He wore the watch frequently, eventually leaving it to the vendor who kept it in a drawer for approximately forty years until early 2024.Complete with box and International Guarantee, this lot presents a wonderful opportunity to own an incredibly rare and very significant piece of Omega history. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
Cartier. A lady's rare platinum and diamond set manual wind bracelet watch offered on behalf of the family of the original ownerDate: Circa 1930Movement: 17-jewel manual windDial: Silvered, black Arabic numeral hour markers, black inner minute divisions, blued steel spade handsCase: Brushed and polished rectangular form, back secured by 2 screws, diamond set bezel and lugs, back winding, No.22824Strap/Bracelet: Platinum diamond set linkBuckle/Clasp: 9K white gold folding claspSigned: Dial, movement signed European Watch and Clock CompanySize: 6mm x 30mmFootnotes:The 1930s was a decade of tremendous creativity and technical innovation for Cartier. The strong, colourful Indian, Persian and Oriental inspired designs, which had dominated jewellery of the early 20th century, were starting to be substituted by a diamond and single coloured gemstone palette which found favour by 1935. This was also reflected in the stone set watches they produced of the period including the present lot, offered for auction on behalf of the family of the original owner. The deceptively simple design of this cocktail watch, which also follows the 1930s move towards a pure 'white' look, is belied by the combination of differently cut stones, in a number of different settings. Utilising brilliant, single and baguette cuts, there are approximately 4.5cts of diamonds. At nearly 100 years old, this charming timepiece is as elegant now upon the wrist as when it was first purchased by the Great Aunt of the current owner. The family recall the original owner as an exceptionally elegant woman with a great generosity of spirit. A beautiful person inside and out, she was a true lady in every sense of the word. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

The Collection Privée, or CPCP, marks a transitional period in Cartier's watchmaking history. After several years of focusing mainly on lady's quartz watches, Cartier delved into their archives and brought back historic designs that hadn't been in production for many years. The focus of the CPCP was on high quality design, movements and craftsmanship. This exclusive series produced in limited numbers until 2008 included the Crash, Chinoise, Obus, Tank Cintrée and Asymétrique to name a few. The original Cartier Tortue first appeared in the brands' repertoire over a century ago after Louis Cartier first designed the piece in 1912. French for turtle, the Tortue has a gently curved case and traditionally was a time-only piece. In 1999, as part of the CPCP, Cartier introduced the Tortue Monopoussoir which houses the calibre 045MC by THA Ebauche. THA Ebauche was the brainchild of the soon to be superstars of the independent world, Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet and Francois-Paul Journe. It is no wonder then why in the past few years CPCP models have been gaining popularity among collectors, especially as neo-vintage watches gain more traction in the market. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the UK, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Since every one was numbered and listed separately, we know exactly how many were produced and that only 136 successfully passed through to attain the coveted 'KEW A' Certificate. The test is carried out over 45 days and includes temperature fluctuations and was designed by the Royal Navy for ship's chronometers. Rolex made a very special effort to obtain these results and the watches were specially made for the tests. Using a 10-1/2 ligne 700 calibre base movement, unusually in pink gilt, with a completely re-calibrated escapement and reworked nickelled balance bridge. They used a Nivorox freesprung and exceptionally fine balance with a Breguet overcoil creating the calibre known to Rolex as the 720. This project was overseen by one of the best 'regulators' of the time, Jean Matile, who obtained various records from 1925, including the Neuchatel best ever result for a wristwatch with 8.4 points and the astonishing 93.8 points at Kew also for a wristwatch movement. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
