1957 MG A Roadster Make: MG Model: A Roadster Year: 1957Mileage: 0VIN: HDA4335905Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: 489XVHTransmission: manualObviously somewhat transformed from stock MGA appearance now, this 1957 MGA is an ex-USA race car, converted to right-hand drive and road-registered in September 2019. It has been used for track days, the occasional sprint and two races while in the vendor's ownership. While the mechanics such as the gearbox, axles and suspension are largely standard MGA, the 1620cc engine is a bored-out 1489cc unit that has been rolling road-tuned to around 145bhp at the flywheel, with a Weber 45 carburettor fitted. It also has a standard balanced crank and rods, and ARP head studs. Although road legal, the vendor says that the engine only gets into its stride above 3000rpm. The vendor reports that the MGA has been reliable and easy to drive, with a Tilton cast-aluminium pedal box and Kirky seat. He believes it would make a good base for an FIA race car; although prepared for track days rather than racing, any ineligible items are easily removed and the originals refitted - parts such as the mechanical distributor, water pump and standard brake discs do come with the car. The car is shod with Avon CR6zz 175/15 tyres, but the fronts will need replacement soon. Work done since the vendor acquired the car in 2019 includes the right-hand drive conversion, fitment of a 123 electronic distributor, electric water pump, new rear crank oil seal, new rear gearbox tail housing seal, Weber 45 carburettor plus manifold, new wheel bearings, twin Posi-flow Facet fuel pumps, fully Poly-bushed suspension, MG Midget clutch slave cylinder (which offers more clutch feel), MGB heavy duty road clutch, uprated anti-roll bar, 112 degrees centigrade warning lamp, full-width windscreen (required for some race series), eye level oil warning lamp and reverse gear lock-out bar. The MGA is also fitted with a GPS speedometer and the front offside wing is steel but the remainder are fibreglass. The gearbox is standard MGA as is the rear axle and the brakes, albeit with grooved front discs and braided steel flexible pipes. The documentation includes the V5C, dynameter report, a selection of images, import documents and DVLA registration, 123 electronic ignition instructions, and assorted bills and invoices for work done and parts bought since 2019. The MoT certificates date from 2022 (valid until February 2023) and 2021 and 2019. The electronic odometer shows 621 miles, which seems to have been zeroed when the engine work was carried out in 2019. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 10TH MARCH BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

Launched in 1961, the Hornet and Elf were given larger boots, rear fins and traditional upright grilles, along with leather seats and wood on the fascia. The models progressed from MkIs with 34bhp 848cc engines to MkIIs with 38bhp 998cc motors and then MkIIIs with concealed door hinges and wind-up windows. As a MkII Hornet, this is arguably the most desirable of the variants, with the original body style but the more powerful engine. This Wolseley was registered in May 1966, just before the progression from MkII to MkIII. It has been restored and still looks quite fresh, with a new-looking interior, very good paintwork and a solid underneath. The vendor tells us that the car drives well with good oil pressure, describing it as a 'good, all-round solid car that has covered just 1600 miles since 2002'.

The sunroof has been rebuilt and new front brakes and wheel bearings have recently been fitted. The engine has been swapped for a spare unit, but the original one comes with the car, although it needs reconditioning. It was also noted during our test drive of the car that it jumped out of first gear. The vendor has owned the car, which was registered in December 1970 and currently shows 22,638 miles on its odometer, since he was at school and has worked on it gradually over several years. However, he does report that, at 6ft 3in tall, comfort can be a problem. The history folder includes the current V5C document showing four registered former keepers, plus some previous V5C documents. There's some assorted invoices from 2015 to 2021 (including the one for the new black mohair sunroof costing £90) and a collection of photos. 1971 Lotus Type 69 Formula ThreeMake: Lotus Model: Type 69Year: 1971Mileage: 0VIN: 71/69/12FBConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: Contact AucitoneerTransmission: manualThe history of this 1971 Lotus Type 69 Formula 3 racer has been researched by Duncan Rabagliati, a motoring historian and Historic Lotus Register registrar and Motorsport UK HTP inspector for Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) papers, who also has copies of the original Lotus 69 production records. The records show that Type 69 Formula 3 chassis number 71/69/12 FB was the last of the FB chassis. Although unsold in 1971, it was a full-build rolling chassis with fire extinguisher and seat belts. It was recorded as being taken back into stock, until March 1972, when Lotus Cars advertised it for sale in Motoring News. It was sold to Italian racing driver Claudio Francisci, who campaigned it, with F3 1600cc engine, in Formula 3 races throughout 1972, including the F3 support race to that year's Monaco GP. The paperwork folder includes supporting evidence from Claudio Francisci regarding his ownership of the car, a list of racing results from 1972 and more extensive write-ups on some of the races the Lotus participated in, along with some Italian paperwork. This one, in mid-metallic blue with blue velour interior, was registered in March 1989 and has had just two former registered keepers from new (with the last one having owned it for 29 years). The mileage as recorded by the odometer is 118,617 and the last MoT expired in August 2020. When tested in August 2019, the mileage was 118,501 miles. In S specification, as here, the 3.0 was the most desirable of the early Mk3s, and it was the model that was showcased on The Professionals TV series in the early 1980s, with Bodie driving a silver 3.0 S and Doyle a gold 3.0 S. Registered in September 1981, this 2994cc Capri has four former previous keepers registered on its logbook, with the vendor having owned it since 1988. He tells us that the engine was rebuilt 5000 miles ago, to 'Fast Road' standard by Ford specialist Burton Power in Essex. Road tests showed 185bhp at the rear wheels. It's also been lowered two inches using Leda springs and gas shockers. The car has been SORN since 2008, so will need some recommissioning. It is believed there's a blockage between the fuel tank and the carburettor, which is preventing the car from running properly at the moment. However, with fuel fed directly into the car, by-passing the tank, the Capri runs well.

1966 JBSS 1200 SpyderMake: JBSSModel: 1200 Spyder Year: 1966Mileage: 65960VIN: GD43741RSConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: HYC257DTransmission: manualYou're unlikely to come across another car like this. It's a JBSS 1200 Spyder, a fascinating track day special based on a Triumph Herald but now much more potent. Initially started as a conversion to a Sammio (Herald-based kit car) by a previous owner, it was left unfinished and instead received a one-off aluminium racing body on top of the Sammio tubular structure. The Triumph Herald engine has been replaced by a Suzuki GSXF 1100 unit and gearbox, with the aim being to create a sprint/hillclimb/trackday special. The car was previously sold by ACA in 2016, when it was noted that the fuel, brake, suspension and steering components were either new or refurbished. The JBSS seems to have been little-used since then. The 1147cc Herald on which the car was based was registered in May 1966, and four former registered keepers are recorded. The odometer currently shows 65,960 miles, with the last MoT expiring in May 2017. The paperwork file includes the V5C and a large stack of invoices and other literature relating to the build and running of the JBSS, testifying to a lot of money spent over the years. The folder also includes a parts manual for the Suzuki engine, along with printed photos of the special aluminium body under construction.

A Torsen differential is also fitted, as is a high flow cone air filter and stainless steel exhaust. This work is confirmed in correspondence from G J R Autos, which did the work. The 'L' (for 'Lusso') specification denoted a more richly trimmed and better appointed version of the standard 500, and was available from 1967 to 1972, when it was superseded by the new Fiat 126. Features included tubular bumper guards, a new Fiat badge at the front, redesigned hubcaps, chrome plastic gutter mouldings and bright trim around windscreen and rear window. Inside the dashboard was covered in black anti-glare plastic instead of being bare painted metal, and there was a new trapezoid instrument binnacle replacing the round one used on all other 500 models. The steering wheel was black plastic with metal spokes, while the door cards and seats were pleated pattern leatherette. There was also more storage space was provided in the form of a tray on the centre tunnel, which like the rest of the floor was covered in carpet rather than rubber mats. While this car was restored around five years ago, according to the vendor, the interior is apparently original. New tyres were fitted last year, as was a fuel pump. The mileage is indicated as 80,905 although this isn't warranted. The vehicle's last MoT expired in May 2017. Included in the paperwork folder are the V5C plus the recent invoices for the fuel pump and service kit, dating from 2021. There are older bills and correspondence back to the 1990s. He reports the 'Big Healey' has been very reliable in that time. The car was first registered in the USA and restored there in 1989 before coming to the UK in 1990. The vendor tells us that a lot of work has been done since then, including a new mohair hood and tonneau and gearbox and overdrive rebuild. The engine has been rebuilt twice, most recently in May 2011. The vendor notes that the car has been well-used and enjoyed, but has also been kept in a garage with a dehumidifier running during his ownership, while its servicing and maintenance has been looked after by Norfolk Classic and Sportscars in Fakenham over the last eight years. The paperwork folder includes the V5C plus a large stack of well-organised invoices in two ring binders. These date from 1991 through to 2021 and testify to thousands spent over three decades and a great deal of care and attention lavished on the Austin-Healey. There's also the purchase bill from when the vendor bought the car in 1990. The MoT certificates date from 2017 back to 1990, with the recorded mileage at the 1990 test being 82,866 miles. The odometer now shows 3983 miles. The car also comes with a spare set of keys.
