1932 Austin 16/6 Burnham Saloon 2249cc (Manual) – DE 8572First registered on 4th January 1932 and bought by a Mr Henry Burgess from Norfolk Hotel Garage in Arundel on 25th March 1932 for the price of £350. Trading in his Singer Saloon for £85. From that point on it appears that Mr Burgess kept a diary of every single expense transaction on the Austin, in fact the book contains some transaction that can only be assumed belonged to the Singer too. We can see that the car was effectively parked up during the war from December ’41 to 1946. As well as this the history file documents correspondence between owners in the 1960’s. There are letters later explaining that the original registration “GW 2949” somehow ended up on an Austin 12/4 and that the current registration DE 8572 is from a 1934 16/6. However, this was some time ago as the buff log book in the file is from 1947, and shows the current registration. There are MOTs dating back to the ‘70s. and invoices for restoration work carried out in the ‘90s. The current vendor has fastidiously restored and maintained this car into a near showroom condition since becoming only the 4th owner on the V5 in September 1997. The condition of this car is impeccable and a huge credit to the current vendor. There is very little we can say about the car that the history file and car itself can’t already tell you. Simply that this is a rare treat in the Austin world. Few, if any, come up for sale in this condition or with history so detailed. If you collect Austins, this is a must for you. Ditto if you like cars in exceptional condition. View more - https://hansonsclassics.com/car/1932-austin-burnham-saloon/

Daughter of Sir Thomas Colyer-Fergusson, 3rd Bt. The car has an aristocratic feel. Its assumed it was used to chauffeur Lady Colyer-Fergusson up from Kent to London, or for afternoon tea with other likemindeds. The car was sold on in 1945 and again in 1946.
