2003 Renault Avantime 2-litre Dynamique Having caused something of a sensation amongst the world's motoring press in 1998 at the Paris Salon, when they revealed the world's first MPV coupe concept, Renault poured a staggering 1.4bn francs (€285m) into development. Remarkably true to the original design, the 'Avantime', built by Matra, was a genuine mould-breaker that offered a luxurious cabin with Theatre seating, pillarless side windows and a large panoramic sliding glass roof (which simultaneously retracted at the press of one 'Grand-Air' button) - delivering a quiteexhilaratingdriving experience. Despite being the only car to achieve 'Sub-Zero' status on Top Gears 'Cool-Wall' just 452 were sold in the UK, half being 2-litre Turbo Dynamique models with 6-Speed manual transmission, of which less than 100 are thought to remain on the road today. Specified with 'Sand silver pearl paintwork with obligatory silver roof-rails, this 'Dynamique' is also fitted with rear parking sensors and aftermarket Sony stereo. 1968 Daimler V8-250 - Bare metal restored mid 1990s - Full specialist interior renovation - Specialist engine rebuild -350 miles since - Significant further refinements - Full owner history When Jaguar acquired Daimler, they had a new 2.5-litre, V8 engine that Edward Turner had designed and fitted to the enigmatic Daimler Dart. This unit fitted neatly into Jaguars Mk. II bodyshell and had the added bonus of being quicker than the entry level 2.4 litre XK model without out-shining the larger power plants. The engine used domed motorcycle components, was lightweight and delivered an irresistible engine note. Fuel economy was, in comparison, very respectable, meaning that the Daimler could not only see off the majority of its competition in a drag-race but it would also return better mpg's whilst doing so. The combination was launched as the Daimler V8-250 in 1962 and continued for 7 years as either a four-speed manual with overdrive or a more desirable three-speed automatic gearbox. It was the first Daimler built on a Jaguar platform. Entered privately by the local owner... This example is documented as sold new by H.R. Owen, London in October 1968 to Pyrene of Grosvenor Gardens SW1. Specification included automatic transmission plus full webasto sunroof and radio. The history file chronologically lists previous keepers and is accompanied with copies of the registration changes across nearly 50 years. The car was subject to a comprehensive restoration for which some photos can be found in the file, which involved stripping the car to a bare-metal shell. Despite the passage of 25 years since, the paintwork still shows a wonderful lustre and the beige leather upholstery remains supple and virtually unmarked. The tailored carpets still look magnificent as does the headlining, wood dashboard and instrument panel - inside this car feels like a very special place to be. The history files shows a dedicated commitment to improving the car and bringing it towards a first class standard. Despite infrequent use in the past fifteen years the car benefited from new copper brake lines, pads and calipers. New power-steering pump, 'Lumination' electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust system, new tyres, battery and many other items too plentiful to list here. Most significantly in recent times the engine was rebuilt by Kent specialists XJ Restorations for which there is a detailed schedule of work undertaken and total billing for £3,605.00. The car has done little more than 350 miles since. The detailed files show it has also been tuned and had a major service since, where plugs, leads and lubricants were changed for new. Unsurprisingly the V8 engine purrs magnificently, living up to the high expectations that the seductive chrome, paintwork and upholstery promises. 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V, Diamond Jubilee Edition, Jubilee Gold Producing only 5,159 cars, the Diamond Anniversary Edition of the Lincoln Continental Mark V celebrated Ford Motor Companys 75th birthday (and with so in style). In 1978 it was the most expensive production car in the USA with it being twice the price of a Cadillac De Ville Sedan. They came in two colours, both using a special clear coat colour (in this case Jubilee Gold). This was accompanied by a plush Landau vinyl roof and body trim, padded centre console, luxury cloth upholstery alongside padded leather and ebony wood accents. Nothing about the car's specifications were anything like typical vehicles available - hence the high price tag. This particular Continental comes in Jubilee Gold with plush velour champagne upholstery and white wall tyres - a very period combination. The motorcar has recently had a new battery, new air con compressor fitted (and gassed), all weather stripping replaced on doors windows and moon roof, new Valino padded vinyl carriage roof and trunk arch costing the current owner a hefty £8,000. This work has left the vehicle in superb condition mechanically and aesthetically allowing the driver to get everything out of its 7.4 litre engine. The original 8 track is boxed and supplied with the car for those who wish to have the period look can easily be reinstalled. The vehicle is accompanied by a large history file including its original owner drivers manual, five volumes of workshop manuals covering not only the Lincoln but all Ford vehicles for 1978s, plus a large supplement brochure for the power moon roof. S10444Odometer reading: N/AMOT: Exempt*One of only 260 made*Believed off the road since the 1960s*Offered for restorationFootnotes:Based on the chassis of the preceding 2-Litre Continental four-cylinder model, whose overall style and good looks it retained, the six-cylinder 16/80 was new for the 1933 season. The 16/80 employed a 1,991cc overhead-valve Crossley engine, reworked by Lagonda to its own specification, and could be ordered with a conventional four-speed manual or pre-selector transmission enabling swift and easy changes. Autocar liked Lagonda's new medium-size model (which took its name from its 16hp RAC rating and 80mph top speed) remarking on its silence, smoothness, brisk acceleration and effortless high-speed cruising. Approximately 260 were made, of which it is believed around half survive. The attached tax disc expiring in 1965 may be an indication of when this example was last used. 'ALK 287' was purchased in 1968 by the late owner, who dreamed of returning the car to former glory, although that ambition had to wait until he retired. An 'at home' restoration was commenced at least 15 years ago, the car being dismantled but little progress made. Other commitments again took precedence, and the project had proceeded no further when the owner died last year. The chassis is sound and the bodywork fundamentally straight, though the car's mechanical condition is not known. Offered for restoration, the Lagonda comes with a handbook, old-style logbooks, and a letter from a previous owner. The option of AE Brico fuel injection was the most significant mechanical development, while flared wheelarches, necessitated by the adoption of the wider DBS wheels, were the most obvious. In a further effort at standardisation, DBS front seats were fitted to the DB6 Mk2, which now came with power-assisted steering as standard. Last-of-the-line models are always sought after by discerning collectors, and among Aston Martins few are more highly prized that the final flowering of the glorious 'David Brown' six-cylinder series. First registered on 24th June 1970, this DB6 Mk2 has the desirable ZF five-speed manual transmission and left the factory finished in Bahama Yellow with black interior trim. A (copy) V5C document on file shows that one Trevor Clayton acquired the Aston on 24th June 2003 and that the car previously belonged (from July 1998) to John Penn (an AMOC member). The current owner purchased the DB6 from Aston Workshop in March 2008, at which time it had already been repainted red (copy invoice on file). 'YTD 100H' is listed in the HPI database; nevertheless, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to this vehicle's registration status prior to bidding. WP0ZZZ99ZWS601442*Desirable sunroof model*Circa 109,000 miles from new*MoT'd to August 2022A major step forward, the Type 996 version of the Porsche 911, introduced in 1997, really did justify its maker's claims to be 'all new'. With the 996's introduction, Porsche finally adopted water cooling for the flat-six engine, which remained behind the rear wheels of a car that shared no panels with its immediate predecessor and was longer, wider and higher than before. Despite the overall increase in size, Porsche's engineers managed to lower the 996's drag co-efficient by raking back the windscreen, with a beneficial reduction in fuel consumption at high speeds. Bonded-in front and rear screens contributed to a significant increase in the stiffness of the aluminium chassis, which was clad in galvanised steel body panels. Water radiators were mounted at the front: two for manual transmission cars, three for those with the Tiptronic semi-automatic 'box. The new, more compact, 24-valve engine displaced 3.4 litres compared with the 993's 3.6 yet was more powerful, producing 300bhp (up from 285), which was good enough for a top speed of 174mph. Finished in silver with black leather interior, and equipped with the desirable sunroof, this presentable example of the four-wheel drive Carrera 4 has covered some 109,000 miles from new and is described by the vendor as in superb condition, driving as it should and with everything working. Re-sprayed in 1979 shortly after acquisition, the car has naturally mellowed since then with multiple cosmetic blemishes. The grey leather interior has a nice patina of age, although the wood trim is in remarkably good condition. The drophead hood matches that of the rest of the car, and a hood cover is included. The engine bay would benefit from some tidying and a deep clean, while the engine sounds very healthy and the car drove well on a recent test drive. Good oil pressure readings of 50lb/ft at idle when warm and 75lb/ft at 2,500 were noted. In short this is an enthusiast's collectors' motor car that has been used and enjoyed with the primary objective of having a reliable and good runner. It can easily be enjoyed as is, with further improvement as and when required. The comprehensive history file contains original and continuation logbooks; a V5C registration document; numerous MoTs; Spare Parts Catalogue; sales brochure; Alvis Car Club literature; and old servicing and other invoices. It was used regularly until taken off the road 1987 when radiator damage occurred, causing the engine to overheat. Examination showed that the cylinder head was porous and needed welding. This has been done, although no valve seat work or re-facing has been carried out. It is expected that the crankshaft bearings need re-metalling and the crankshaft regrinding. The radiator has a new core and is ready to be re-installed. All parts removed from the vehicle have been stored and are included in he sale.Except for the roof, the body is basically sound with mostly original paint. The chassis is rolling and in good order, with five good original wheels and four new tyres. The decorative door interiors are in restorable condition and the original leather seats are complete, although the rears need restoration. The Salmons' Tickford folding roof mechanism needs attention too but is a rare feature and well worth preserving. The front grille and surround is in good order, as are the front and rear bumpers, while there is a huge rear luggage rack. The windscreen is undamaged and all the Jaeger instruments are in the original dashboard. This partnership between Rover and Morgan was largely a result of Peter Wilkes (director of Rover) attempting to purchase Morgan off of Peter Morgan. He politely declined, however the meeting did result in an agreement for the supply of the then new Rover V8 to be fitted in the new Plus 8. This 1977 Plus 8 is a very special Sports Lightweight model that is presented in a beautiful Opalescent Silver with contrasting Gunmetal grey colour scheme. Originally owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce McLaren), this example is number 19 of just 19 Lightweights built between 1976 and 1977. The Lightweight Plus 8s are incredibly rare, and they are known for their all-aluminium bodywork handcrafted from the factory. A resident of Guernsey, John McLaren imported the car to the island and it has never left since the day it arrived (this is justified by the low mileage of just 12,387 miles). John was also known to have the radiator cowl plated in chrome, and it is known to have had three owners in total. Overall the car is in good condition, and this is a rare and low mileage example of a Plus 8. Upon its founding, the company originally focused on iron working, however the business then diverged and started building rotary steam engines. In 1903, the company then diverged even further and built approximately 25 chain drive cars with tube coil radiators mounted below the front of the frame. In 1909, the company then purchased and shipped Simplex chain-driven rolling chassis to their new factory in Elmira, New York, where new bodies were fitted and badged as a LaFrance. Presented here is a 1917 Simplex LaFrance Speedster that has been rebuilt in 1996. The standard of the build is high, and the car offers a truly unique open-top driving experience. Power comes from LaFrance's large four-cylinder 9½-litre engine that's paired to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The car also features 24' wooden wheels that are shod with Michelin tyres. The car also uses a modern electric starter motor. The Speedster's chassis was professionally shortened and narrowed resulting in an imposing and highly effective Edwardian special. The bodywork, interior, running gear and electrics all present well, and the car also comes with a good history file. The engine starts and runs very well.
