JAMES BOND: DR. NO (1962) - Japanese STB/Tatekan (Trimmed), 1962Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. One of the scarcest of any James Bond posters from any of the series. A Japanese Tatekan (STB) from 1962 for Dr. No. This almost five foot tall poster features Sean Connery in action and from one of the most famous scenes from the film as he surprises his golf-playing house guest. The Tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers than regular Japanese posters, with this particular imagery unique to this release. They are very rare, almost impossible to find in any condition and are highly sought after by Bond collectors. Offered unrestored in two sections as originally issued to cinemas, it presents very well, with the top edge trimmed by approximately 4 1/2 inches. We have consulted with a professional paper restorer who has stated that the missing paper can be reinstated so that the poster appears complete.(Trimmed): 20.25" x 53.5" (51 x 136 cm)Additional Information: Poster is in two halfsCondition: GoodRolled in two halves with a manual fold towards the bottom of the lower half. The top half has been trimmed by roughly 4.5" at the very top. Multiple pinholes around the border and some discolouration and small nicks and tears around the edges. Some scattered staining.Artist: Unknown Artist£2000 - 4000VAT Status: MClick here for our Poster Auction Grading Guide

Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Ken Loach, Kes is based on the 1968 novel "A Kestrel for a Knave" by Barry Hines. It is part of the kitchen sink realism movement that developed in Britain in the late 50s and early 60s. This original first year of release UK Quad, presents the powerful image of the defiant boy giving a two-fingered salute - which caused controversy during its initial release.40" x 30" (102 x 76 cm)Condition: FineRolled with a manual fold down the centre.
