Fine mid 19th century English repeating carriage clock of exhibition quality by Thomas Cole, the double fusee movement signed Arnold, Charles Frodsham, Strand, London, no. 857, the silver engraved foliate dial with Roman numerals signed 'Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, 859', the platform lever escapement with a bi-metal compensation balance, the back plate with a silvered seconds dial and hammers striking on a gong, within a fine engraved foliate and cast gilt brass case with presentation inscription 'To the Rev'd. Henry Eley M.A.F.G.S. from the Parishioners on his resigning the vicarage of Broomfield, Essex, April 11th, 1861', bevelled glazed silvered side panels inset with a scaled thermometer and opposing manual calendar, hinged back door, 6.75" high to include the handle Reference Upon the death of John Roger Arnold, Charles Frodsham purchased the whole of the Arnold business, and moved his business and family into the former Arnold premises at 84 Strand in 1844.
