Lot 15

1934 Citroen Ten Rosalie - Entered from the Home Farm Collection - The subject of an older cosmetic and mechanical restoration - Citroen UK chassis plate, four-speed manual gearbox, Maroon leather upholstery Further Information: Dry stored as part of a private collection and so would benefit from a degree of recommissioning Introduced at the 1932 Paris Salon, the Citroen 8CV 'Rosalie' was marketed as the Citroen 'Ten' in Britain (a differentiation necessitated by the two countries conflicting ways of measuring 'horsepower'). A well-executed if somewhat conventional 'light car' design, the 'Ten' was based on a sturdy ladder frame chassis equipped with all-round quarter-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension, four-wheel drum brakes and worm and roller steering. Reputed to develop 32bhp @ 3,200rpm, its 1452cc four-cylinder sidevalve powerplant drove the rear wheels via a three-speed manual gearbox (upgraded to four-speeds from 1934). Claiming a 90km/h top speed, it also boasted such niceties as flexible engine mounts, partial synchromesh and all-steel 'single piece' bodywork (available in a variety of open / closed guises). Superseded by the revolutionary 'Traction Avant', the model only remained in production until January 1935 by which time some 38,835 are thought to have been sold worldwide (though, survivors are comparatively few and far between). PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. VAT (@ 20%)

Lot 25

1929 Rover 10/25 Weymann Saloon - Entered from the Home Farm Collection - Desirable 'Riviera' specification complete with full-length folding sunroof - The subject of much past restoration work and still highly presentable Further Information: Dry stored as part of a private collection and so would benefit from a degree of recommissioning. Introduced in late 1928, the Rover 10/25 was an evolution of the 9/20. Based around a sturdy ladder-frame chassis, it utilised all-round leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Rated at 10hp for taxation purposes, but quoted as developing some 25bhp, the newcomer's 1185cc OHV four-cylinder engine was allied to three-speed manual transmission. In order to minimise weight and maximise performance, Rover made the 10/25 available with a range of Weymann fabric-covered bodies, and priced at £250 the so-called Riviera Saloon came with a full-length sunroof. A full four/five-seater, it was capable of a 55mph top speed. Progressively refined, the 10/25 made the switch from magneto to coil ignition during 1929, with Rubery Owen wire wheels becoming an option the same year. Surprisingly few of the 15,000 10/25s sold between by 1933 have survived to this day. PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. VAT (@ 20%)

Lot 42

1937 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Saloon - Finished in silver matched to a red leather interior with Park Ward limousine coach work - Supplied new to a Mr Ralph Clifford Lynn esq, a comedy actor from Manchester - Previously UK registered as 'DLT 428' and offered with a copy of its US title plus chassis card records Further info: Maintaining its policy of offering one 'Large' and one 'Small' model (the terms being purely relative!), Rolls-Royce introduced the 20/25 in 1929 as a successor to the outgoing 20 hp. Though the newcomer was intended to appeal to owner drivers, many examples were in fact sold to customers with chauffeurs. Power came from an enlarged version of the straight-six unit used in the 20 hp. Now of 3699cc, it made for swifter acceleration and a higher top speed - up to 75mph, depending on the chosen body. The four speed manual gearbox featured the manufacturer's traditional right-hand change and was equipped with synchromesh on the top two ratios from 1932 onwards. The substantial chassis sported rigid axles front and rear suspended on semi-elliptic leaf springs. The four-wheeled braking was mechanically servo assisted. In 1936, the company opted to increase performance once more, further enlarging the engine to 4257cc to create the so-called 25/30, of which 1201 examples were made before the model was superseded by the Wraith in 1938. Like most Rolls-Royces, the 25/30 starred on the silver screen, most notably in 'The Naked Truth' and 'Death on the Nile'. This charming 25/30 is finished in silver matched to a red leather interior and features Park Ward limousine coach work to body number 4225. Supplied new to a Mr Ralph Clifford Lynn esq. who was a comedy actor from Manchester best remembered for playing comedy parts in the Aldwych farces, first on stage and then in film. Featuring a central division and fold out picnic tables, 'GGN 27' had resided in the USA for a long period before recently retuning to the UK. Having previously been UK registered as 'DLT 428' the Rolls Royce is offered with a copy of the US title, chassis card records, bill of sale and offers the opportunity to acquire an attractive Rolls Royce with an interesting history. PLEASE NOTE: This lot is not offered with the flying lady mascot as pictured however does include a town cap. PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. VAT (@ 20%)
