Regarded for its beautiful hues, the watch's design is inspired by 1967 America's Cup winner, 'The Intrepid' which had several Heuer chronographs on board. To commemorate the win, Jack Heuer commissioned the 7754 (based off of the 7753), which today remains one of the brand's rarest and most coveted watches. The most notable characteristic of the watch is the colouring, which is directly taken from 'The Intrepid': a deep metallic blue dial, mint green subsidiary seconds and the iconic tri-colour green, mint green, and orange 15 minute count-down register. The distinctive mint green comes from the deck of 'The Intrepid' after an MIT study deemed it the colour least likely to produce distracting reflections. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

By sinking the black subsidiary dials and outer scale within the white dial background, the dial achieves an unusual three-dimensionality and also an instantly recognisable look. As such the Paul Newman has earned its place among the most coveted watches for collectors around the world. The central white of the dial of this lot has the distinctive and attractive 'Grene' or grained surface giving a matte but slightly sparkling look. The reference 6239 was the first model of the Daytona series, available in Europe in 1964. The model was produced in stainless steel, 14K gold and 18K gold, and was Rolex's first chronograph model to feature a tachometer scale on the bezel. To further enhance legibility on the dial, the subsidiary dials were printed in a different colour than the main dial. Early models featured only the designation 'Cosmograph' on the dial, with 'Daytona' being added to later series, after Rolex became associated with the NASCAR car races. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ΩΩ VAT on imported items at the prevailing rate on Hammer Price and Buyer's Premium. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

It is regarded by many Patek Philippe aficionados as the quintessential vintage chronograph because of its elegantly simple Calatrava case and characteristic flat bezel. The Reference 130 houses the same movement Calibre 13' but it is aesthetically distinguished by a concave bezel.Although its production run lasted for 20 years, the 533 was made in very restricted numbers. It is estimated that the total production was around 350 pieces. Of those, the majority were cased in pink gold and fitted with a pink gold dial. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 264.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
Patek Philippe. An unusual, fine and exceptionally rare 18K gold manual wind asymmetrical wristwatchModel: Gilbert AlbertReference: 3422Date: Circa 1960Movement: 18-jewel Cal.99 P manual wind, adjusted to 5 positions, No.861415Dial: Silvered, enamel signature, black sectored hour markers, gilt pointed baton handsCase: Brushed and polished asymmetric rhomboid form, snap on back, No.2615624, inside bezel No.24Strap/Bracelet: Fitted black Patek Philippe alligator leatherBuckle/Clasp: Signed 18K gold buckleSigned: Case, dial & movement Size: 30mm x 31mmFootnotes:Gilbert Albert was born in Geneva in 1930. After studying Jewellery and Design at Geneva's Ecole des Arts Industriels, in 1955 and at only the tender age of 24, his design talents were spotted and he was approached by Patek Philippe to design some prototype wristwatch cases. Inspired by his favourite artists Brancusi, a modernist sculptor, and Mondrian, a non-representational painter, Albert defied the conventional way of designing watch cases. He incorporated asymmetrical and rhombic forms in his watches and the result was simple, sophisticated, and purely artistic designs. Many of Albert's innovative designs for Patek Philippe, such as Ref. 3412-3413, remained prototypes and were never manufactured in series because of the uncertain commercial success of his daring design. The current example is a reference 3422 which was in production for just 4 short years from 1960 to 1964. The case was made by Markowski and the dial by Stern Freres. It is understood that only 18 examples of this reference were created in yellow gold with a further approximate 5 in rose gold. Of the 4 rhomboid-esque references Albert designed, the 3422 is one of the rarest. His unconventional case designs are considered as exciting and innovative today as they were 70 years ago. This particular example has never been offered at auction before and is offered on behalf of the family of the original owner. In honest condition, this really is a rare opportunity to acquire a timepiece representative of a period of design exploration and creativity from one of the most desirable manufactures in the world. The small production number made only expounds this point further - this is not something that comes up at auction every day. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

The original version was an exceedingly rare watch at the time and was often seen on the wrist of Duke Ellington. Nowadays it is rarely seen outside of a museum. The present model was part of the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP) of 2006. The Collection Privée marks a transitional period in Cartier's watchmaking history. After several years of focusing mainly on lady's quartz watches, Cartier delved into their archives and brought back historic designs that hadn't been in production for many years. The focus of the Collection Privée was on high quality design, movements and craftsmanship. The Collection Privée was offered for ten years, from 1998 to 2008. This particular model was produced in a limited number of just 100 pieces. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the EU, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
