Large format, with a hiding lens and leather folding view port.Graflex was synonymous with large format, highly capable, and very portable- for their time- press and battlefield cameras in the first half of the 20th century. The Graflex Series B is a fine example of the sort professional grade field cameras that made the company famous- a massive curtain shutter that swings across large slices of film- fitted with a leather dark bag to transfer new sheets into place- and a flip open leather viewing shade for fine focus. For the collector of photographic or American engineering history, the Graflex makes a striking addition. Includes Original manual. Includes original manual and 2 spare bulbs; early and unusual. In the early days of film, no format was sacred- 70mm, today an Imax extravagance, was common, and 35mm was just coming into its own. A number of early amateur and professional formats emerged in this gulf, and Pathex's 9.5mm was a popular if ultimately unsuccessful one. This lost relic from the early days of motion picture, with its glass-lined take-up gate and matching, hand cranked camera, is a wonder of early electro-mechanical engineering- and a rare treat for the collector of cinematic curiosities. Issued: 1920s Dimensions: 7.5"L x 4"D x 13"H, largest Manufacturer: Pathex Country of Origin: United States Condition: Age and use related wear, as-is
