The Aston Martin DP214 is a rare and legendary race car, designed in the early 1960s as a part of Aston Martin’s "Development Project" series. Created specifically to compete in high stakes “World Endurance races” such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans; the DP214 holds a special place in Aston Martin's racing history. Martin Brewer’s involvement with the DP214 has helped to keep this iconic car alive in the world of historic motorsports. Only two original DP214s were built, making them incredibly rare. The car was an evolution of the DB4 GT and, more specifically, the DB4 GT Zagato, both of which were high-performance models of the DB4. The DP214 was developed by Ted Cutting, Aston Martin’s chief designer at the time, who focused on reducing weight and improving aerodynamics for better performance on the track. This design work was essential in creating a vehicle capable of competing against other powerful race cars of its era, like Ferrari’s 250 GTO. The DP214 featured a lightweight aluminium body and an upgraded version of Aston Martin’s straight-six engine. This was paired with a five-speed manual transmission, which was rare for its time. The car could reach speeds of over 180 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans, an impressive feat for the era. Its design emphasized aerodynamic efficiency, with a sleek, elongated body, a rear spoiler for stability at high speed and carefully sculpted lines to reduce drag. Martin Brewer’s involvement with the Aston Martin DP214 comes through his efforts in preserving and racing a tool room copy of the original DP214. Given that one of the original DP214s was destroyed in a tragic accident at the Nürburgring in dreadful weather conditions, certain enthusiasts have undertaken the challenge of keeping the spirit of the DP214 alive through accurately crafted replicas. The two most prominent recreations, of which this is one, have been built to exacting standards, using original design specifications and where possible, period-correct materials and genuine Aston Martin parts. They offer a rare glimpse into the past and allow modern audiences to experience the DP214's performance and style.Purchased by Martin Brewer some 18 years ago, this tool room copy of DP214 has competed at many of the British circuits and extensively in Europe, as well as competing at Laguna Seca in California. The car was originally built by Adrian Johnson at Post Vintage Engineers and has been continuously fettled by the Runnymede team along the way. The engine, which produces approximately 385 BHP was painstakingly rebuilt by James Hipwell at Warren Heath Engineering, the build of which included a steel crankshaft, a lightened flywheel, high compression pistons and Carillo con-rods, with the 12 plug cylinder head being gas flowed and with fuel being supplied via triple 50DCOE Weber carburettors. A very sturdy custom-built roll-cage adds to the driver safety, together with five-point harness safety belts. The car has proved to be utterly reliable and Martin has enjoyed considerable success at the wheel of this rare Aston Martin. The car’s achievements in competition are too numerous to list but include two wins at Laguna Seca in Monterey and a win at Silverstone in 2018. Perhaps one of his most pleasurable achievements, was sharing the car with Iain Rowley at the Spa Summer Classic in 2019, when the car was last raced and coming second against strong opposition at the age of 75. In 2023 Martin spent over £12,000 on the car with Rex Woodgate & Co at Silverstone in preparation for the 2024 season, although unfortunately, it has not been raced this year for personal reasons. Race cars can often look a little scruffy and bruised, this is not the case with this Aston Martin. It always presents well and can be used as a road car should you choose to do so. Martin Brewer has been known to drive the car to the Le Mans classic, such is the flexibility of this Aston Martin. It is supplied with a V5C registration document and very comprehensive history files.One of the remaining original Aston Martin Project cars sold in 2018 for $21,455,000 including buyer’s premium by R M Sotheby’s. This ‘tool room copy’ appears to be realistically estimated given the quality and history of the car. The Austin Seven Swallow is arguably the first Jaguar produced as it was designed, styled and built by William Lyons & William Walmsley at the Swallow Coachbuilding Company before it became Jaguar Cars shortly after World War II. Production of their stylish sidecars began in the workshops of their Swallow Motor Company, whilst, at the same time, Sir Herbert Austin launched the cheap and simple ‘Seven’ model to compete with the light cycle cars of the period. An association was formed between Austin and the Swallow Sidecar Company and, although somewhat at arms’ length, each firm benefitted from the association with the Swallow coachwork giving the Seven a fashionable air that wasn’t available in house at Austin. The first hand formed aluminium over wood Swallow Roadster bodies appeared on the Austin Seven chassis in 1927 with the two-door saloon being launched at The London Motor Show in October 1928. The Swallow was known for its distinctive lines, colour schemes and bold, barrel like grille shell. It’s estimated that Swallow produced approximately 1,700 saloon bodies.With very few Austin Seven Swallow saloons remaining today, we are pleased to be able to offer one of these attractive and distinctive saloons from a private collector. This Swallow is largely original; the interior displays its factory headlining that has worn well and is complemented by an attractively finished dashboard and instrument set. We are informed that the Swallow is, mechanically in very good order, and apart from routine maintenance, has wanted for nothing. The 747cc four-cylinder engine was completely rebuilt in 2000 with evidential paperwork and little mileage since. This work included a re-bore, new sleeves, valves and big end bearings, whilst the three-speed manual gearbox, is slick and works perfectly. Structurally, the Swallow appears to be excellent, and a look underneath shows an exceptionally clean chassis. The coachwork is finished in the combination of navy blue over light blue. Some of the paintwork appears cracked (no doubt due to a previous repaint some years ago) but does not detract from the overall attractive look of the car. The original Swallow mascot, mounted upon the radiator cap comes with the car and is an attractive feature. This Swallow will arrive at the sale with, a current UK V5 registration document and significant history folder. With Austin Seven Swallows becoming increasingly hard to find within the market, this must represent an ideal opportunity to acquire a rare and interesting example of the ‘Seven’ marque. Desirable V8 variantJust three former keepersThe Morgan Plus 8 began production in 1968 and continued all the way through until 2004. The iconic Plus 8 returned in 2012 for a further six years, ending production again in 2018. Its iconic design remained largely unchanged throughout its life, lightweight construction, and powerful V8 engine. The Plus 8 is built on a steel chassis with a handcrafted aluminium body and Morgan’s famous ash wooden frame. The Plus 8 is powered by the tried and tested 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine, which provides exhilarating acceleration, aided further by the immensely low weight of around 830kg. It also features a five-speed manual transmission.First registered 12th February 1986 this Plus 8 finished in black with matching black trim boasts just three former keepers. Just one owner from newTime warp conditionThe BMW E30 is the second-generation of BMW 3 Series, which was produced from 1982 to 1994 and replaced the E21. The range included two-door coupé and convertible body styles, as well as being the first 3 Series to be produced in four-door sedan and wagon/estate body styles. It was powered by four-cylinder petrol, six-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel engines, the latter a first for the 3 Series. The E30 325iX model was the first BMW to have all-wheel drive. The first BMW M3 model was built on the E30 platform and the BMW Z1 roadster was also based on the E30 platform.This stunning one lady owner example was originally ordered from BMW Ascot on 25th November 1992. Specified with metallic emerald green paintwork with upgraded tan full leather interior and automatic gearbox. Upon inspection the car is in ‘time warp’ condition, in fact you would assume less than half the 80,000 miles had been covered with limited signs of wear. The owner is no longer able to drive the car so for the past few years it has remained garaged until this autumn when it benefitted from a full recommissioning and service with Ian Allen Motors, this included two new rear tyres, fuel tank drain and new fuel pump/filter, replaced front brake pads and a new battery. Brainchild of Lee Iacocca - subsequent saviour of the Chrysler Corporation – the Mustang is one of the most remarkable automotive success stories of modern times and arguably the pinnacle of his long career with Ford. Aimed at the affluent young, for whom a car was as much a lifestyle statement as a means of transport, the Mustang succeeded brilliantly, achieving sales over a quarter million by the end of '64. This remarkable debut was followed by a staggering 524,791 sales in 1965, earning Ford a fortune.The secret of the Mustang's success was a broad appeal that extended beyond the target market thanks to a great value-for-money package combining sporty looks, decent economy and brisk performance. Synonymous with the swinging 60s and the hit TV Series Inspector Morse, the Mk. II was undoubtedly the most admired Saloon to emanate from Jaguar's hallowed Browns Lane factory. Featuring notably slimmer roof pillars than its Mk. I predecessor, the immortal Mk. II was as airy on the inside as it was elegant on the outside. The interior was quintessentially British with its sumptuous leather-covered seats, polished wood facia and door cappings, extensive instrumentation and impressive row of auxiliary toggle switches. These cars punched well above their weight. Equipped with either a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre engine, the Jaguar was capable of sprinting to 60mph in as little as 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph, small wonder that it was the first choice of both bank robbers and the police of the period!Finished in Old English white with blue leather interior, this classic Mk 2 Jaguar has the more desirable manual gearbox and rides on wire wheels, giving a sportier appearance than the standard steel wheels. One former keeper low mileage exampleRecent specialist service/re-commissionIntroduced at the 1984 Paris Salon, the Testarossa caused a sensation. The functionality of its Pininfarina-styled bodywork was disguised by a wealth of flamboyant and futuristic detailing. Developed with the aid of a wind tunnel, it combined a low drag coefficient with impressive negative lift characteristics. The first twelve-cylinder Ferrari to be marketed in America for a decade, the new flagship was of vital importance to Maranello. Although it was built around a similar tubular steel matrix, it retained the same mid-engined layout as its Berlinetta Boxer forebears. The Testarossa was more than just a simple evolution, its use of galvanised steel for the doors, roof and bulkheads promised greater longevity while a longer wheelbase, wider track and revised all-round double-wishbone coil-over suspension promoted better handling. As well as greater interior space, drivers also benefited from an adjustable steering column, re-profiled seats and air conditioning. Mounting the drive train and rear suspension on a separate sub-frame meant better noise insulation and easier servicing. The switch from a large front-mounted radiator to twin units housed in front of each rear wheel resulted in more efficient cooling and less heat soak. Extensively reworked, the 4,942cc, flat-12 (developing some 390bhp) is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Highly praised by the contemporary motoring press, Autocar magazine found the Testarossa capable of 181mph and 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds.Presented in, what many believe to be, the best combination of Ferrari Rosso Corsa with Crema leather interior, this very low mileage, original right hand drive UK Testarossa can only be described as in excellent condition throughout. The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection using a mechanical pump system adapted from the diesel motors. Rear-wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. Most of these early SL's were sold with both the removable hardtop and a soft top. In 1960, Ballinger eventually proposed to develop a completely new 220 SL design based on technology from the W112. This led to the W113 platform with an improved fuel-injected 2.3 litre M127 inline-six engine and the distinctive 'pagoda' hardtop roof. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where Nallinger introduced it as follows; "It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort."This 1966 left hand drive Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda fitted with a manual gearbox was supplied new to the U.S. and remained in California until 2009. It was then imported to France and, shortly afterwards, is believed to have been restored. Finished in red with matching hardtop and black soft top all in excellent condition, the interior has tan leather seats and tan carpets also in very good condition. Purchased by the vendor from ourselves in 2016 he has invested significant amounts of time and money to ensure this 230 SL presents in good order. Work included the fitment of new floor pans both sides and together with mechanical work. Supplied with a V5C registration document this Mercedes-Benz has been little used of late, but has been correctly stored in a dry, heated garage. A new special edition version of the Mercedes SL celebrates the legendary Mille Miglia road race, trim changes rather than any actual technical enhancements make this a special edition for those wanting exclusivity instead of extra performance. We’ll let you decide whether the red and black colour scheme is to your taste, but the SL’s strength is the effortless way it manages to blend complete comfort with a startling turn of pace. However, you can’t overlook the fact that it costs £12,000 more than the standard SL. With the Mercedes AMG GT stealing all the headlines of late, Mercedes’ glamorous SL drop-top has been ignored somewhat. The company has addressed this by rummaging through its history and introducing a new special edition, called the Mille Miglia 417. This car doesn’t only celebrate the famous historic Italian road race, but also honours the often-forgotten John Fitch, whose 417 start time and race number adorns this made over SL. Sir Stirling Moss usually got all the Mille Miglia glory, but Fitch’s 11-hour, 29-minute and 21-second time – which placed him fifth in the 1,000-mile event in 1955 – is well worth celebrating, too. Only 500 of these special SLs were made, with magnetite black metallic paintwork as standard. Matt Designo Black Magno or Cashmere White Magno finishes are offered, as is an optional Desgino Diamond White non-matt finish.This superb example is presented in Designo Diamond White with black leather interior and red trim. The car was purchased by the present owner’s father in 2015 when the car was new and only passed to our client in 2022 upon his death. There is little doubt that Paul Bracq’s design for the Sixties 1960s pagoda was revolutionary and his ability to mix timeless styling with high performance on three different levels was impressive. The entry level version used the 2.3 litre engine followed by the 2.5 litre and finally the most desirable and spirited 2.8 litre, six-cylinder engine. The bonnet panel, door skins, boot lid and tonneau cover were composed of aluminium giving the car an overall lightness which contributed to the performance that was very well received by the general public. It quickly became apparent that some cars don't change, they just get better. The 280 featured the same modified W111 chassis with independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. A charming model with capable handling, these roadsters have had one of the most sublime styling bodies, and easily comparable to Jaguar’s E-Type and the Alfa Romeo’s Spider. The driving experience and build quality are respected, and as a result, still highly collectable today.This lovely left hand drive Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda was supplied new to Germany in 1968 with the rare manual four-speed gearbox. At some point the car was sold and went to the USA. In 2014 it was purchased by an elderly gentleman who in 2018 had the car lovingly restored at great expense but then passed away. Finished in the Mercedes-Benz racing colour scheme of silver with black interior and black soft top, this 280 SL has only recently been imported into the UK. It is supplied with V5C registration document and its data card. A successor to the Ferrari 360, it debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. Designed by Pininfarina, under the guidance of Frank Stephenson, the body styling of the F430 was revised from its predecessor, the Ferrari 360, to improve its aerodynamic efficiency. Although the drag coefficient remained the same, downforce was greatly enhanced. Despite sharing the same basic Alcoa aluminium chassis, roof line, doors and glass, the car looked significantly different from the 360. A great deal of Ferrari heritage was included in the exterior design. At the rear, the Enzo's tail lights and interior vents were added and the car's name was etched into the Testarossa-styled driver's side mirror. The large oval openings in the front bumper were reminiscent of Ferrari racing models from the 60s, specifically the 156 ‘sharknose’ Formula One car and 250 TR61 Le Mans cars of Phil Hill.First registered to its one and only owner on 1st January 2008, a desirable manual gearbox presented in Rosso Corsa over Crema leather with Bordeaux carpets this F430 Coupé which has covered less than a staggering mere 2,500 miles from new is believed to be the lowest mileage right hand drive manual example. Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury grand tourer. Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés but for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A new 2.5 litre, V8 designed and developed by Triumph's Harry Webster was later enlarged to 2,997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with overdrive were available. Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as standard.Originally registered on 23rd April 1976, this Triumph presents in the colour combination of green with black interior. The engine has been rebuilt and runs well. It should be noted that the mileage covered on the engine since the rebuild is approximately 250 therefore a gentle period of ‘running-in’ must be adhered to. Initially conceived as a bigger and better Land Rover, it never progressed beyond the stage of test models and the project was cancelled in 1958. The idea of a luxury Land Rover was taken up again in the mid-1960s by Spencer King and Gordon Bashford, chief engineer and chief designer respectively of New Vehicle Projects, who set out to combine the practicality and cross-country ability of Land Rover engineering with the performance and comfort of Rover saloons. The Range Rover was successfully launched in June 1970. At that time, management felt confident in describing its versatility as 'four cars in one - a luxury car, a performance car, an estate car and a cross-country car'. It is a matter of history that Range Rover was received with tremendous enthusiasm and has subsequently fulfilled all these and many other roles with great success. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth or leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. It was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis similar to contemporary Land Rovers. It utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine.This Range Rover Vogue SE was originally registered to Land Rover UK Ltd, Lode Lane, Solihull on 28th April 1992 before its first owner, our vendors father, acquired it on 16th January 1993 and has owned it since. Garaged all its life we are told this was the family car seen in the local supermarket carpark rather than the motorway or anything more strenuous which is reflected in the time warp condition of the car. Presenting in Agean Blue with grey leather interior, the paintwork is in good order as is the interior.The 3.9 Litre V8 engine is a very well tried and trusted unit, we are informed this example runs well and the manual gearbox operates as it should. The original service books are present, clearly this Range Rover having been owned by the same vendor since 1993 and has been very well cared for. An MoT test certificate valid until 6th March 2025 and this example is supplied with a good history file. With the higher-up driving position, ample legroom and more than adequate storage space, it is easy to see why Range Rovers are so popular. The history of Aston Martin’s V8 saloon is well documented but what is less known perhaps is the final series, or Oscar India (October Introduction), especially when specified with the extremely rare (and in this instance original) dogleg ZF manual gearbox which sets itself in a league of its own with, according to the AMHT, 26 being built and only 15 of which were right hand drive. It should thus be noted that this is a genuine factory manual example and not mistaken for a later conversion.Still on the original 1983 registration and with matching numbers as confirmed by the enclosed Heritage Certificate, the factory options at the time were a manual gearbox, two rear fog lamps, Cibie headlights in the front grille and, interestingly, a rear silencer delete.Also enclosed is a large history file going back to delivery in the early eighties including the original stamped service book, owner’s manual, warranty card, old MoT’s and numerous invoices. The registration document shows only three owners and is probably the lowest produced configuration of the Oscar India with only twelve right hand drive examples complete with a manual gearbox ever made.Originally purchased through Victor Wilson Ltd. in Edinburgh by Robertson Baxter Ltd, (Distillers) in the original and present colour scheme of Raven Black with a contrasting burgundy leather interior. There then follows a comprehensive service history as well as a number of period upgrades including a complete engine rebuild to 5.7 Vantage capacity and X-Pack specification with new liners, pistons, valves, high-profile cams and larger carburettors and inlet manifold. Additionally, the correct ZF five-speed gearbox has been rebuilt with a short-shift added and new clutch. A full-flow, oil-cooler with thermostat has also been fitted as well as a Harvey Bailey handling kit offering a much-improved handling and roadholding driving experience with lower & stiffer suspension, rebuilt dampers, stiffer front anti-roll bars as well as the additional of a rear anti-roll bar. Also included is the original black leather owner’s manual (with pencilled notes), the original Aston Martin warranty and service voucher booklet as well as receipts for all work in current ownership which includes numerous works such as a gearbox rebuild by noted specialist Rikki Cann, an upgraded Powerlite high-torque starter motor, restored leather interior, re-lacquer of all interior woodwork and fresh carpets and door cards and finally, the engine rebuilt to Vantage X-Pack specification by Aston Martin specialists Oselli to the tune of £45,000 bringing works in recent years to over £67,600 since it was purchased by the current owner. The SL65 AMG emerged as a stylish roadster powered by a V12 leviathan capable of crushing competition at a push of the acceleration pedal.
