Lot 108

Introduced in 1993 to the public, the handsome new DB7 was styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen in its design. Arguably one of the most attractive looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the DB7 was well received and attracted new customers worldwide with its traditional layout of the curvaceous two-door coupé body. At the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, Aston Martin introduced the six litre Cosworth-designed and built V12 engine, developing 420bhp and accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed limited to 185mph. Ian Callum enlarged the grille, added fog lamps and restyled the valances to give the car a more aggressive look.A rare and highly desirable model, the DB7 Volante offered here comes with the rare manual gearbox option. First registered on 7th July 2000, this ultimate specification DB7 presents beautifully in Stornoway Silver with Charcoal interior and not only boasts the V12, 420BHP engine, but is also one of only 2,046 Vantage Volantes built. Cherished by the vendor for the past 15 years, the history file for this car can only be best described as comprehensive. Bound and in order, every detail from sales invoices to service records are filed. So cherished is the car that the vendor has even kept an annual mileage record. Wanting for nothing, this rare example is reported to run and drive very well and is a very reluctant sale.Accompanying the vehicle is the V5C registration document, owner’s manuals, service records, purchase details, MoT test certificates, Aston Martin Owners Club correspondence and workshop manuals. To find a manual DB7 is hard enough, but to find one in Vantage Volante specification boasting that glorious V12 and with an unparalleled history file, not to mention ‘AML’ registration plate is near impossible. An opportunity unlikely to come again. Consigned by Will Penrose. RARE MANUAL GEARBOX CARCOMPREHENSIVE SERVICE HISTORY

Lot 101

Inspired by a bespoke Morris 1100 that Fred Connolly of the eponymous currier had commissioned from coachbuilder-turned-manufacturer Vanden Plas, BMC tasked its Kingsbury-based subsidiary with replicating Mr Connolly’s car to gauge public reaction at the October 1963 Earls Court Motor Show. Sporting a revised radiator grille, two-tone green paint and sumptuous Champagne Beige leather and Walnut Veneer interior, the resultant machine attracted a deluge of enquiries. Entering production in April 1964, the Vanden Plas Princess 1100 boasted a twin-carburettor 1100cc engine, four-speed manual gearbox, front disc brakes and Hydrolastic interconnected suspension. Priced at £896 (£195 more than the MG 1100 with which it shared a powerplant), the newcomer also featured a West of England cloth headlining, Wilton carpets, reading lights, rear picnic tables and individual folding front seat armrests. In an age of coachbuilt Minis by Wood & Pickett and Radford etc, the Princess 1100 with its ‘shrunken Rolls-Royce’ cabin proved a strong seller. This nice example is presented in blue with a grey leather interior, with wood dash and door cappings. There are folding tables fitted to the backs of the front seats for passengers to use which was a very smart touch back in the 1960s, normally associated with far more expensive luxury rivals. This very original Van den Plas shows much patina and comes with its original buff log book, original hardback handbook, manual and original dealer advert. The car is still on hydrolastic suspension and it is in good order with no leaks or deterioration. Also to add, there are receipts and MoTs going back to 1970s confirming original mileage of 67000 and 2 owners up until recently Practical, British and original which is quintessentially so evocative of family saloons of the era and can be still as much enjoyed today as it was indeed back then. Consigned by James Good VERY NICE VANDEN PLAS EXAMPLE WITH LEATHER, FOLDING TABLES TO THE REARCOMES WITH ORIGINAL BUFF LOG BOOK, ORIG HANDBOOK, MANUAL AND ORIGINAL DEALER ADVERTSTILL ON ITS HYDROLASTIC SUSPENSION AND ALSO COMES WITH RECEIPTS AND MOTS GOING BACK TO THE 1970S
