*Flying Log Books. Two Aircrew Flying Log Books for No. 4261621 Sgt. Littlefield, Air Despatcher, log opens on 27.10.64 at R.A.F. Abingdon with `First Balloon` jump, second same day, then 28.10.64 `First Aircraft Jump` recorded from `Hastings` 582 Flt. Lt. Tobbener as Captain, training continues at Abingdon with para` drops at Weston-on-the-Green, Benson and elsewhere with No. 1 P.T.S. 25.2.65 joins ATS (B) at R.A.F. Lyneham as Quatermaster flying on Britannias 392, 520 and 635. April 1965 joins No. 99 Squadron at Lyneham, on 8.4.65 flying in Britannia 637 Captain Flt. Lt Degars aircraft suffers a `Lightening Strike`. Next day to Akrotiri and later onto Muharraq, Gan and Changi (Singapore). Extensive flying continues with No. 99 Squdron, many exotic destinations recorded including Gander, Labnan, Kai Tak (Hong Kong), Dar-es-Salaam, Lusaka, Nairobi and others, on 7.2.66 log records `Fire in No. 1 Eng` when airborne in Britannia 659, much flying in East Africa on different Britannia aircraft, numerous overseas flights continue including the U.S.A., Far and Middle East and Europe. Tour ends on 7.6.67 total hours on Britannia 1057.35. July 1967 new Log Book opens as Littlefield joins No. 84 Squadron flying on Andover C.Mk.1 aircraft, extensive flying on training and overseas missions on different aircraft, with different Captains, on 13.10.67 `kipper run to Macrihanish` before Squadron moves to Aden, fascinating South Arabia flying to numerous sand-strips, many now international airports! Extensive flying continues as the British Forces pull out of South Arabia, an illuminating document as to how 84 Squadron was put to work. Leaves 84 Squadron on 26/2/69, rejoins 99 Squadron at R.A.F. Lyneham, route flying much as previously, in some cases same aircraft, same pilots. Flights to Canada, the U.S.A. Middle and Far East continue, Littlefield ceases flying on 12.5.70 after total of 2311 hrs 15 mins. Log books contain service endorsements and comments, aircraft flown and stations served at, together with an Officers & Aircrew Selection Centre manual an photograph of Littlefield, an unusual pair of log-books recording the declining influence of British Air Power (2)
