1997 Land Rover Discovery V8i/LPG, 3947 cc, Registration number P637 KAC, Chassis number SALLJGMM7VA557651, Engine number 36D66136C, The Discovery Series I (1989 - 1998) was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the more upmarket Range Rover, but with a lower price aimed at a larger market segment intended to compete with Japanese offerings. Initially only available as a three-door version; the five-door body style became available in 1990, both came with the option of jump seats in the boot. The interior was designed as "life style accessory" by the Conran Design Group. The original transmission was a dual-ratio five-speed manual with drive via a transfer case with a lockable case differential, with 2.0 litre petrol, 2.5 turbo diesel and 3.5 litre V8's. In 1994 the V8 was replaced with the 3.9 litre motor. This example was bought by our vendor, a serial Land Rover owner, in 2002 part exchanging a SWB Defender against it. At this stage it had already been LPG converted, with a mileage of some 44,000. It has many desirable options such as the jump seats, twin sun roof, cruise control and tow bar with winch power pack. It was withdrawn from active service in 2013 when a newer model came along and used around the homestead with a mileage of some 75,000, today it stands at 76,173. Sold today for restoration with no MOT, V5C, old MOT's, a recent battery, it is currently SORNed.

1994 Land Rover 110 Defender FFR two door ex-Army, registration number L785 TJK, chassis number SALLDHAC7LA939887, engine number TBC (Army reconditioned unit). Throughout its long life from the initial Series 1 of 1948 to the last Defender in 2016 the vehicle was in continuous development and was able to undertake many varied roles, from farmers hacks, to expedition vehicle to civilian life and the military forces and much loved by most. The Defender first entered UK military service in 1985, in both long and short wheelbase forms. Early vehicles were all powered by the '12J' 2.5 non-turbo diesel engine, and available as either General Service (GS) or Fitted For Radio (FFR) versions. Over the following ten years very large numbers of these basic variants were purchased by the MoD. Once the Army had finished with this example, it was demobbed and first registered in the UK on the 4th October 2000. Upon examination it has an ABRO reconditioned engine, full roll bar and fibreglass roof with a side mounted spare wheel; possibly Wolf upgrades in the Army. It was initially painted white and has a central heating system in the rear (presumably for Arctic work, then painted black and green with UN markings, latterly it sand and green with IFOR markings. An old registration number of 11 DN 15 was found in the garage and could have been its service number. Purchased by our vendor's deceased father in 2002 and driven for some ten years; it was parked up when the clutch master cylinder failed and it has stood on his drive ever since. The last MOT expired in August 2013. Now in need of restoration, the bulk head appears to be in good condition as does the chassis and the engine turns over but prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves as to the amount of work that is required. Sold with a V5C (recently a private number plate change has occurred), a set of camouflage sticks to attach to the body, a BMC workshop manual, a Haynes manual and a spare tyre. Please note there are two Sankey trailers also in this auction from the same estate.

1974 AUSTIN MAXI, 1748 cc, Registration number SOA 515M, Chassis number AH5SC200755M, Engine number 31321, The Maxi (code name ADO14) was the last car designed under the British Motor Corporation before it was incorporated into the new British Leyland group, and was the last production car designed by famed designer Alec Issigonis. It was in production from 1969 - 1981. Underneath the Maxi's practical and spacious body shell lay an all-new front wheel drive chassis, which was interlinked with an innovative five-speed manual transmission. Power came from a 1485 cc, E-Series engine, the 1750 and win-carburettor 1750 HL models, were added to the range in 1971. One unusual feature of this car was that the rear back seat, as well as folding forward as in a conventional hatchback, also folded back In combination with fully reclining front seats this gave sleeping accommodation. This well-kept example has been in the family since 2002 and has only four owners, they are long term Maxi owners, this being the fourth example the family have owned. The overall good condition of the interior and MOT's from the early 2000's would suggest that the mileage of some 67,000 could well be original. Having been stored for the last couple years the car is now surplus to requirements. Sold with the V5C, owner's handbook, a 2015 invoice for £755 for works associated with the MOT that year, various old MOT's and tax discs. It should be noted that as the car was produced before the 1st January 1976 it no longer requires road tax as it is a historic vehicle.

Lot 1535

1961 BSA A7 Shooting Star 500cc, registration number 940 UYS, frame number GA717862, engine number CA7SS8639. In 1954 BSA introduced its answer to Triumph's Tiger 100, in the shape of the A7 Shooting Star. This sporty 32bhp version of the A7 used an alloy cylinder head, as also fitted tothe 650 Road Rocket version, with special valve seat inserts, higher comp pistons, sports cam and manual ignition control, operated by the rider's left hand. The Shooting Star also incorporated full width aluminium hubs and central cast-in alloy drum brakes. BSA claimed these were 'extremely powerful' and indeed they could stop the A7SS from 30mph in 29 feet on dry tarmac. The Motor Cycle Magazine tested a machine back in 1957 when it was brand new. They said that "ease of handling, sweet transmission and smooth low speed pulling make the Shooting Star a delightful machine to ride in traffic, whilst zestful acceleration and steering cater admirably for the rider who wants something out of the ordinary in 500cc performance". The A7SS reached 98mph and covered a standing quarter mile in 16.9 seconds. According to our vendor this example has been extensively renovated by the previous owner with a fully rebuilt engine and gearbox, the frame has been powder coated (covering the frame number) and then resprayed in the correct period Mist Green. Please note that it has only covered 12 miles since the rebuild so one should change the oil after some 500 miles. Said to be "on the button" it should require very little recommissioning to put on the road. Sold with the V5C, VE60 which lists the original registration number as 1048 WY and confirms the matching chassi and engine numbers and an MOT until March 2018.
