A gold-mounted hardstone and mother of pearl 'hand' desk seal, French or English, late 19th century, modelled as a mother of pearl fist clasping a gold baton, the ends with bloodstone and carnelian matrices, the tapering sleeve of bloodstone with scroll-engraved gold mounts, oval carnelian matrix engraved with monogram: AJL, height 5.7cm, 2.25in.

Three gold-mounted desk seals, the first of bloodstone with leaf-scrolled mount, the matrix engraved with a sportsman jumping a gate, 7.5cm; 3in; the second of green hardstone with waisted faceted handle, gadrooned gold mount, the bloodstone matrix with a coat of arms, both English, late 19th century, 6.8cm, 2.625in; the third, circa 1860, with amethyst glass handle, leaf collar with egg and dart cushion, the circular carnelian matrix later engraved with the arms of a Continental Count, 4.7cm, 1.875 in, (3).
