A LATE 19TH CENTURY NOVELTY DESK COMPENDIUM TIMEPIECE, the aneroid barometer dial bears the R.D.E monogram, as a ships wheel surmounted by a capstan later mounted with Bacchus figure, with double ratchet to the brass-moulded rouge marble base, the 2.25 inch dial signed with Paris retailer's name and address, with Roman numerals and moon hands to the single barrelled movement with lever escapement, barometer with push-fit setting to enable winding, 30cms high. Provenance: private collection, consigned via our Colwyn Bay office Condition Report: gilding worn, particularly to base and wheel, three spoked handles missing, finial later addition, retailers name worn.

Original antique World War One propaganda poster for war veteran training issued by the Red Cross - He Can Win! The federal board provides training. Consult the local Red Cross Home Service Section - colour poster of a soldier dressed in WWI uniform, sitting at a desk holding a pipe and a pencil. Drafting tools, an ink pot, and a paper with drawings are on the table. Red Cross symbol is in the top right corner of the picture. There is a large white spot on the soldier's forehead which Library of Congress catalogue describes as an injury. Poor condition, paper losses, tears, staining, creasing. A Victorian light oak partner's pedestal desk, with a leather inset writing surface, containing nine short drawers and drawers and cupboards to the reverse, on a plinth base151w x 97d x 77h cmCondition report: Overall solid and usable. Drawers run ok. The inset top is not torn, but heavily marked and worn in places. It has not been restored, so is dirty, worn and inside the drawers are dirty and stained. Central drawer is 42 x 42 x 7cm. Frieze drawers are 37w cm. Pedestal drawers are 32w cm. Kneehole 60w x 59h cm. Some handles are chipped but they appear to all match and are complete. Has been varnished at some stage, but probably not recently. Quite a few old knocks and scuffs around the base, corners and edges. Some slight losses to the veneer on the top in the centre from use.

There is a loss to the shell on one side, 1cm x 0.5cm. A leather base, which is worn from use age. Metal is dull and tarnished. Dirty, with tiny knocks to edges.

The mechanism winds ok and is operated by pressing the tail or the nose, but is quite temperamental, so sometimes will not stop ringing when pressed.
