A 19th Century French carved ivory and silver desk seal, the handle carved as a bouquet of roses, the silver head chased with scrolls and foliage, the silver matrix engraved, 13 cm longOverall in good condition. Possibly some small chips to the edges of the petals and leaves however this is probably part of the design. Some tarnishing to the silver and light scratches. No apparent cracks or restoration. Would benefit from a clean. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a CITES certificate with his lot. We believe (but cannot guarantee) that we could post it within the EU but would prefer it to be collected.

A good Maison Millet Louis XV style ormolu-mounted kingwood and quarter veneer satine desk, Paris, circa 1890, probably Theodore Millet, centred and surmounted by a seated infant guerrier over a timepiece, the twin-train 8-day movement stamped S Marti, et cie 1889 no.1351, striking on a bell, with white enamelled dial, five drawers below centred by an open niche over a gilt-tooled leather writing slide over three frieze drawers, flanked by twin candelabra and seated cherubs, raised on mounted slender cabriole legs to sabot toes, approx. 117 cm w x 72 cm x 140 cm h o/a Provenance: acquired between the wars by grandparents of the current vendor good, complete, original and unrestored, the ormolu dull, dirty and patinated, the surface of the timbers showing signs of wear through careful use, colour faded, dull and dirty, the leather writing surface same but structure sound showing no evidence of worm or other damage, the clock movement dirty, complete and original, the enamel dial chipped around both winding holes, hinged bezel and glass ok

Original vintage advertising poster in German for Sturm Cigarette Cards - Hindenburg The Great History - featuring a black and white drawing of a man smoking a Trommler cigarette in his office and putting images into a photograph album with portraits on the wall behind him and books and an ink well on the desk in the foreground and, below, smaller photo images with descriptions found on the cigarette cards relating to Hindenburg including a portrait of the Hindenburg family in 1880, the President of the Reich visiting Tannenbergfeier and Hitler shaking hands with the President of the Reich, with the text and prices in stylised coloured and black letters with the SA logo below. Sturm-Zigaretten (Storm Cigarettes aka the Storm Troopers' cigarettes; 1929-1935) were manufactured to support the NSDAP Nazi party's paramilitary unit, the Sturmabteilung (SA; aka the Brownshirts); the company also produced a set of cards for the German Army featuring different army and military images from history.
