AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY MAHOGANY AND SATIN WALNUT WRITING DESK, of serpentine outline, the top with a dark green gilt tooled leather inset, above a centre drawer flanked by cupboards, each with quarter veneers, inlaid with ebony and box stringing, cast brass handles, on fluted tapering legs with lobed capitols, 75cms high x 122cms wide x 60cms deep, together with a matched chair, with foliate cresting over pierced splat, upholstered seat, on fluted legs
A Rare Charles II Joined Oak Sleeping Chair, upholstered in red damask fabric woven with stylised foliage pattern and secured with brass studs (A/F). The high hinged back having wing sides and adjustable iron ratchets to set the angle. The long padded arm rails incorporating wrought iron rods at the front which extend to support a reading desk, above canted block posts. The large rectangular seat having a feather filled cushion above well-turned ball & column front rail and legs united by a conforming H-form stretcher. 50 ins (127 cms) in height, 27 ins (69 cms) width of arms. A 17th Century Marquetry Oak Desk Box of good colour & patination. The sloped lid having a step-cut edge and the initials S.D. inlaid at the centre. The front & sides enriched with floral marquetry and the base applied with a deeply moulded edge. 10½ ins (27 cms) in height. 24½ ins (63 cms) in width, 19 ins (48 cms) in depth.
