An Art Nouveau French silver mounted stoneware desk set probably Denbac Pottery, in the manner of Hector Guimard, comprising inkwell, pen-tray, box with hinged cover probably for stamps, paper-knife, blotter and a pair of candlesticks, each with high-fired crystalline blue and cream glaze stamped RL lozenge mark, damages, 25cm. wide (pen tray), (7) Catalogue notes The potter Rene Denert (1871-1937) and Rene-Louis Balichon (1885-1949), a merchant, started the pottery in 1910, producing work until its closure in 1952.

A late 19th century walnut veneered desk, of serpentine form, with green gilt tooled leather writing surface and fitted with a series of drawers and all raised on bracket feet. Length 149 cm, depth +/- 81 cm, height 78 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The desk is in generally extremely good condition and could be used in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration. It is structurally very sound with no significant losses or any major repairs or restoration. Clearly there are some small shrinkage cracks to the veneers and moulded edge but there is nothing loose and there are no structural issues. The left hand bank of drawers has two missing lock escutcheons. The bracket feet particularly the kneeholes have some scuffs and rubs as one would expect. Other than this the piece is in first class condition. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The green tooled leather writing surface is also in very good order with only some rubbing to the gilding.

A large walnut Queen Anne style partners desk, fitted with three frieze drawers to either side and six drawers to each pedestal with brass drop handles and crossbanded fronts flanked by canted angles and raised on a plinth base. Length 185 cm, depth 113 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This desk is in first class condition. There are no issues of any note. The leather is in extremely good order as is the crossbanded edge. All drawers are in good condition. All locks are present and we have the keys. All brass handles are present. There are some very minor nibbles to the bottom edge of the pedestal bases but again these are minimal in our opinion of no real significance. There are no splits to any of the panels. The sharp edges to the corners of the top moulded edge have some very slight abrasions. The desk is really in as good condition as you could get.
