Straus Jr. at the Department of Anatomy, John Hopkins University Medical School. Dos Passos thanks his correspondent for two papers, remarking 'I'll read them with interest and instruction as soon as I work through a pile of stuff on my desk' and further suggesting that they might get to see each other again, before Straus leaves for a tour, adding 'It was great fun the other night'. Sister of Jawaharlal Nehru and aunt of Indira Gandhi. Vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph of Lakshmi Pandit seated in a half-length pose at her desk, with a pencil and papers before her. Signed ('Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit') in turquoise fountain pen ink to a clear area at the base of the image and dated June 1949 in her hand. Some light overall surface and corner creasing, G Lakshmi Pandit served as Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union 1947-49 and as Indian Ambassador to the United States 1949-52.
