A brass three well desk inkwell and pen-stand designed by Charles Francis Annesley Voysey, probably manufactured by Thomas Elsley Ltd, tapering rectangular form with three hinged, domed covers, with circular wells, with two applied pen-holders with riveted heart-shaped terminals, unmarked, 38cm long, 15.5cm. wide Literature Karen Livingstone with Max Donnelly and Linda Parry, C.F.A Voysey Arts and Crafts Designer, V&A Publishing, page 247 figure 314 for a comparable triple inkwell with heart motif (but no pen rests) from the General Manager's desk at Essex & Suffolk Equitable Insurance Society, circa 1906.
LATE 19TH CENTURY WALNUT AND MIXED WOODS CYLINDER ROLL TOP KNEE HOLE DESK having upper gallery above three drawers with brass loop handles, the interior revealing various drawers and compartments with leather inset top above an arrangement of five drawers and standing on square tapering legs, cups and casters. 122 x 63 x 121cm approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Two of the knob handles are damaged on the cylinder part of the writing desk. Lots of wear, fading and stains to the top of the desk. General wear commensurate with age. Three of the miniature ebonised turned handles to the interior are missing.
LATE VICTORIAN MAHOGANY DAVENPORT DESK having brass gallery pierced top with fitted interior, three drawers with ring brass handles, standing on barley twist supports and casters. 77 x 51 x 81cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in good condition for age. Noticeable stains, marks and scratches. Rather faded in places. Structurally sound, general wear commensurate with age.
A GEORGE V SILVER AND APRICOT ENAMEL DESK SET, comprising rectangular easel back desk clock, seal, glass inkwell with fitted pen rest and blotter, all with engine turned decoration and pale blue line detail, bears import marks for London 1913 (4) (condition: clock has hairline cracks to lower half of dial and a more obvious area of damage by the number 8, enamel is chipped in a few places along the bottom edge, also top right corner and along the right hand side by 3, the seal has monogram SR/RS, damage to the enamel towards the base and lighter area on the top, the blotter enamel is in reasonable condition but some scratches and tarnish to the edges, the inkwell has chips along the edges of the pen rest, the enamel is in reasonable order and the hinged cover closes flush, internal glass liner is present)

TM King George VI and Queen Elizabeth – fine pair of Wartime signed presentation portrait photographs by Dorothy Wilding – The King wearing Admiral’s uniform, orders and decorations, The Queen a tiara, pearls and Royal Family Orders, signed in ink on mounts ‘George R.I. 1943’ and ‘Elizabeth R 1943’, in original black Morocco leather frames with domed tops, gilt and embossed crowned Royal ciphers and easel backs, 25.5cm x 18cm. Provenance: Presented to Major T. D. Williams M.V.O., D.S.O., I.S.O., the Superintendent of Buckingham Palace during the War and Officer of the Buckingham Palace Home Guard. Sold with copy of a photograph of Major Williams at his desk in Buckingham Palace with the above photographs on display King George frame is in tact and can stand up on its own. Some wear to the leather on back of kick stand. Queen Elizabeth frame does not stand up alone, the ribbon is broken and the kick stand leather is worn along the top and creased.
The Bombing of Buckingham Palace, September 8th and 13th, 1940 and Buckingham Palace at War – an important group of ephemera comprising a handwritten letter from HM King George VI to Mr Williams, the Superintendent of Buckingham Palace, written on 15th September 1940 on Windsor Castle crested writing paper (two days after a serious bomb attack on the palace), asking Mr Williams to thank all the staff at Buckingham Palace for their devotion to duty under enormous strain over the past week and to thank them all for the fine spirit they have displayed, signed and dated ‘George R.I. 15-9-1940’; HM Queen Mary – a handwritten letter to Mr Williams, the Superintendent of Buckingham Palace, written on 13th September 1940 (five days after a minor bombing attack on Buckingham Palace and the day of the major attack), on Badminton headed writing paper – Queen Mary says how appalled she was to see the photographs of the damage to the Palace and is thankful no one was hurt and The King and Queen were not staying there that night. She comments what an awful time it must have been for Mr Williams and she has sent him a repair sheet to report the extent of the damage back to her – she comments what a dreadful enemy they are fighting against; the Buckingham Palace Home Guard – a fascinating photograph album with label to cover 'Buckingham Palace Company (H.G.) inspected by HM The King Sept. 24th 1941' – containing photographs of The King and The Queen with Major Williams in Home Guard uniform and the other members of the Palace staff in H.G. uniform parading for The Royal Couple at the rear of the Palace (with boarded-up windows) and a copy photograph of Major Williams in Home Guard uniform at his desk in Buckingham Palace – a fascinating and rare historical Wartime record of life at the Palace (4)
Edwardian silver cased desk timepiece of rectangular form with rococo scroll and figure decoration and scroll handle,on four button feet. (London 1901). Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co Ltd. 10cm overall height to handle. General overall condition good, some minor surface and scratching. Rear door has dent to upper edge. Marks clear. Movement is clean and appears to be in working order.
