A Regency mahogany desk or dressing table in the manner of Gillows, with three quarter low gallery and two frieze drawers and raised on tapered legs of turned section. Width 102.5 cm, height to top of gallery 79.5 cm, depth 58 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dressing table is in generally good order. It has an original colour and does not appear to have had any repairs or restoration. The gallery is in good condition all round. The top does not have any significant marks or damage. There are two faint partial ring marks and other minor surface scratches but no significant issues with the top. It is also flat and not warped. The handles have clearly been in position for a long time and if not original do go through the original handle holes. The drawer fronts are both in good condition and run smoothly. The frieze is in good order all round. There are no repairs to the legs and no evidence of any woodworm.
A Victorian walnut piano front Davenport, with rise and fall stationery compartment and sliding writing surface, fitted with four actual and four dummy drawers, with scroll front supports and bun feet with recessed castors. Width 57 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This Davenport is in generally good order. The spindled gallery is a later replacement. The left hand return is loose. The veneers to the top of the pop up action are a little rippled and the pop up action is not quite working as it should. The desk is however in good condition with no significant issues with the veneers and no significant losses. The condition is not as good as Lots 1011 and 1053 but it is not bad. The tooled leather writing surface is more marked and scuffed and has minor losses. The interior is a little dirty. There are some stress fractures to the veneers but again these are fairly minimal but not problematic. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
A late 19th century mahogany and inlaid boxwood strung ladies desk, the shaped gallery back having a well figured oval panel above a central open aperture flanked by drawers with nickel plated ring handles and backplates, all above a single crossbanded drawer flanked by inlaid lozenges, all upon slender square tapering and boxwood strung legs united by an X shape stretcher. Width 30.5 cm, height 109 cm, depth 37.5 cm.
A late Victorian pedestal desk, the rectangular top with inset writing surface and moulded edge above a series of drawers with brass drop handles and shaped backplates, all on a plinth base with ceramic castors. Width 106 cm, height 74 cm, depth 60 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height to underside edge of top moulding 57.5 cm. Width between the base mouldings 39 cm. Width between sides of desk panels 41.5 cm. Depth front to back 57.5 cm.
A Victorian walnut piano front Davenport, with pop up stationery compartment with red tooled leather writing surface and fitted with four side drawers and four opposing dummy drawers. Width 55 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The desk is in generally very good condition. The pop up action works well. The Davenport will originally have had some form of gallery but this is missing. The peg holes are now flush and in our opinion this is not an issue. The veneers are in good condition all round with no lifting and no significant losses or damage. The scroll supports are in good order. The plinth is in good condition and the feet and castors are all present and original. The red tooled leather writing surface is also original and in generally very good condition with no significant problems. Both inkwells are present but one lid is missing. The Davenport could be enjoyed in its current state without the need for any work.
