AN ITALIAN MODEL OF THE TOMB OF SCIPIO IN GIALLO ANTICO MID 19TH CENTURY With a Verde Antico base 8cm high, 12cm wide Provenance: The Simon Neal Collection This is an intricate and small-scale model of the sarcophagus dedicated to Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus, who was a Roman consul victorious against the Etruscans at the battle of Volterra in 298 BC. Carved from Giallo Antico on a scale suitable for an antiquarian or scholar's desk, or perhaps displayed as part of a collection of smaller objects collected whilst on the Grand Tour.Condition Report: Lid detaches- some margin nibbles and losses to interior edge of lid and complementary edge of base recess.Verde Base with some losses and nibbles to corners and 1 old repair.Surface is slightly dirty from atmosphere and handling,Please see additional images which form part of this condition reportCondition Report Disclaimer

A VICTORIAN MAHOGANY AND RED LEATHER UPHOLSTERED DESK ARMCHAIRMID 19TH CENTURY 77cm high, 74cm wide, 65cm deep overallCondition Report: There are marks, scratches, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.The red leather has faded and has creases, scuffs and some stains with traces of a dark wash.There is some crackelure to the varnish of some of the wood.The leaf carved terminals of the arms have been detached and refixed, one not quite fixed flush with the mahogany moulding.There are some splits to the mouldings on the seat rails, some repairs.The brass cappings to the front legs are worn matt.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.Condition Report Disclaimer
A BURR ELM PARTNER'S PEDESTAL DESK SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY AND LATER VENEERED81cm high, 157cm wide, 136cm deep Condition Report: There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions. Some old splits and minor chips (see images) The handles and escutcheons appear to be later additions and are likely late 19th or early 20th century in date. They are in good condition and have ben cleaned and waxed. The configuration on the side of the desk opposing the drawers is the same arrangement and number of drawers. (see additional images) . The drawer interiors are all solid ash. Some drawer lining bear stains including ink stains. Some locks vary from eachother and are lacking keys. None of the locks are brand new, most are late 19th or probably first half 20th century The inset leather surface is green and of antiqued appearance and has a gilt tooled border (see additional images) The leather is in very good condition. A very unusual Regency period leather bound ladies Sewing Casket, with brass mounts, the hinged top opening to reveal a fitted interior for sewing implements, spools and other relating items, above a drawer with pull-out lap desk with fold-out writing surface crossbanded in kingwood, brass lion mask and ring handles to sides and raised on four brass lion paw feet, 12" (31cms).
