The elaborately pieced folding support stand, originally part of a dressing case, centered with a qilin panel and hinged to the low rectangular case fronted with a single drawer, the back of the drawer having a storage area with its own sliding door cover (assembled, wear and separating age cracks). (Approx. 5 1/4" x 18" x 15 1/2").
WORLD WAR I: A good, small selection of vintage signed photographs by various Naval leaders of World War I comprising Sir John Kelly (1871-1936, British Admiral of the Fleet) signed 6 x 10 photograph, being a reproduction of a full length drawing of Kelly by artist Muirhead Bone, signed by Kelly in bold blue fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area of the image, neatly laid down; Sir Henry Jackson (1855-1929, British Admiral of the Fleet) signed 10 x 9.5 photograph of Jackson seated in a half length profile pose at his desk, reading a magazine. Photograph by Vandyk of London. Signed by Jackson in dark fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount, also adding his rank and the date, September 1929, in his hand beneath his signature. Contained in the original photographer's presentation folder and with a newspaper obituary lightly laid down to the inside front cover, resulting in some discoloration to the upper and lower edges of the photographer's mount, not affecting the image or signature; Tufton P. H. Beamish (1874-1951, British Rear-Admiral) large signed 19 x 14 photograph of Beamish standing in a formal three quarter length pose wearing his uniform. Photograph by Vandyk of London and loosely contained in their presentation folder. Signed by Beamish in bold black fountain pen ink to the lower white border and dated 1935 in his hand. Beamish has also added brief details of his service and commands in the Battle of Jutland and Falkland Islands during World War I in his hand to the lower photographer's mount. Slightly irregularly torn at the left edge, only very slightly affecting the signatures; Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) British Prime Minister 1828-30, 1834. Signed Free Front envelope panel, addressed in his hand to Miss. Arbuthnot and her husband Lord Henry Cholmondeley at White Hall Place, London and dated Hartford Bridge, 11th April 1834; Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013) British Prime Minister 1979-90. Signed 5 x 7 photograph of Thatcher seated in a half length pose at a desk. Signed in blue ink with her name alone to a light area at the base of the image. Accompanied by a covering letter from her secretary, 1979. Together with an unused bookplate signed by Thatcher in blue ink with her name alone at the centre, and with her printed name in the upper left corner. Also including a blue ink signature and several additional words in his hand by Denis Thatcher (1915-2003, British Businessman, husband of Margaret Thatcher) on his personal printed correspondence card.
