A Glyphography Folding Desk, English, mid 19th Century, unsigned, French polished mahogany case opens to reveal a fold up mahogany frame that holds the wax covered copper plate, underneath are various tools, in the lis are other plates, width 28cm Note: Cerography or glyphography is a printmaking technique related to engraving, using a layer of wax over a metal substrate. After the image is engraved into the wax, a positive plate is produced through stereotyping or electrotyping. This plate can be used with conventional letterpress equipment. The technique remained popular to the end of the 19th century but was gradually pushed out by photoengraving

Maw & Son of London brass champagne tap with Prince of Wales feathers, a brass letter opener of feather and bird claw form, bears signature 'J. Moigniez', length 16.5cm, an Orivit pewter desk stand fitted with an inkwell, relief decorated with Sycamore leaves and seeds, model no: 2167, width 27.5cm, a Royal Exchange lead fire insurance mark and a small bronze and wood block plain, stamped 'A.V. HAGUE' to both long sides, length 10.5cm (5) (Condition Report: the champagne tap has a few dints, the letter opener is in reasonable order but with polish collections, the desk stand is in usable order but with scuffs and scratches, the fire mark is in poor condition, split in the lead below the crown and the reverse side has been scratched into with dates and information, the plane has damage to the wooden handle)
SIX ITEMS OF 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY TREEN, comprising an Edwardian oak desk stand with silver plated mounts, the top with loop carry handle and pen rest, lacks ink wells, fitted with a locking drawer to the base, width 35cm x depth 24.5cm, a Sorrento tea caddy of shaped square form, in need of restoration, height 12.5cm x width 11cm, a whip with dog's head handle with a bell on its collar, on a hazel shaft, length excluding leather whip 50cm and three wooden kitchen? moulds, two stamped to the sides 'ASHMEAD 10 DUKE S' and 'ASHMEAD 10 DUKE ST GROSVENOR SQUARE' (George Benjamin Ashmead was first listed as a taxidermist at 10 Duke Street, Grosvenor Square in 1830, in 1866 they moved to 32 Bishopsgate), largest 23cm x 5.5cm, shortest 20.3cm x 7.8cm (6) (Condition Report: the desk stand lacks inkwells and has lifting to one inkwell frame where the screw is missing, the tea caddy has losses to the moulding and inlay, the whip has a chipped ear, worn ear tips and nose, the hazel shaft is likely to be a replacement, the three moulds are in reasonable condition, commensurate with age and use, two have holes in the back, the oak leaf and acorn mould has a small split)
A GROUP OF FIVE 19TH AND 20TH CENTURY BOXES / BAROMETER, comprising a Napoleonic Prisoner of War straw-work work box in need of extensive restoration due to losses throughout, height 8cm x width 26cm x depth 17.5cm, an Edwardian walnut and ebonised stained desk stand, the raised back fitted with an enclosed stationery compartment and fitted with a lyre shaped pen rest (lacks lower rests, replaced with modern screws), glass inkwell to the bowed front (inkwell badly damaged), height 17.5cm x width 25cm, an early 20th Century oak wall mount pipe cabinet, transfer decoration to the fall front, the interior fitted with space for six pipes, containing three pipes and another broken pipe, height 18.5cm x width 32cm, (catch on fall front isn't locking into place so front falls inside cabinet), a late Victorian walnut writing slope in worn condition, width 30cm and a first half 20th century barometer on an oak stained mount bearing presentation plaque relating to Earl of Warwick A.O.F.
