A blue 'Odyssey' desk by Linley, of recent manufacture, the curved top set with a navy leather surface, above two pedestals, each fitted with four graduated drawers set with bronze handles, 190cm wide100cm deep75.5cm highProvenance: A private collection, OxfordshireCondition ReportOverall the desk is in fair cosmetic condition but there is a noticeable area of damage with one deep scratch and other scuffs to the inside of the right-hand pedestal (see additional photos). Both power socket covers present. Some drawers a little stiff. A few other small cracks/scratches to the finish including a couple of the drawer fronts. A few small scratches, dents and abrasions to the leather top. Surface scratches to the top but no deep indents. Small area of what appears to be fading to the right-hand side of the leather. No key. Splits into four pieces - 2 x pedestals, central drawer and top.

Some cracks and lifting. Heavy fading, discolouration, marks, splits and lifting to the top. Some chips, cracks, losses and repairs to the mouldings. Splits to the sides. Top drawer stiff with key unable to turn, other drawers run smoothly, with some splits and wear within. Metalware later. Knocks, splits, losses, re-tipping and repair to the feet. Joints sound and solid. Overall in fairly structural order but could do with some cosmetic attention.

The galleried back loose (can be detached). A few general knocks to the frame and a couple of splits to the back (see images). Key present that locks front long drawer. Side drawers do not lock.
An early 18th century walnut kneehole secretaire desk, with quarter veneered top and fall front drawer opening to reveal pigeon holes and drawers, over eight further drawers surrounding a central recessed cupboard, on pad feet, 76cm wide, 48cm deep, 83cm high***CONDITION REPORT***Overall of a good rich toffee brown colour, a little faded to the right side, small raised lip has been applied to the back of the piece, minor dents, knocks and marks to the veneers to the top, main drop front drawer probably a later adaption, with original lock and working key, internal knob handles are bone rather than ivory, drawer above the recess has a concealed catch, side drawers with original locks but no working key, escutcheons quite probably later as are all of the brass loop handles, recess cupboard encloses two fixed shelves, feet look rather small and are thought to be later.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
