Egan, Arbutus works, the shaped raised panel back decorated in inlay with a central crowned harp flanked by ferns and shamrocks, above a sloped front section with herringbone crossbanding and interwoven shamrock inlay, a central vignette depicting the Swiss Cottage, the lift top with similar shamrock design and central harp over six frieze drawers and hollow compartment, over an apron with three oval vignettes depicting Muckross House and Abbey Ruins with garlands and flowers, housing a secret pull out writing drawer, the base with two arched panel doors, two large inlaid vignettes, opening to reveal five drawers with inlaid decoration showing further Irish historical buildings supported by upright inlaid pillars on an inverted platform base with wooden castors, approx. 118cms (46 1/2")h; 82cms (32")w; 66cms (26")d. (1)Provenance: Purchased by the Corcoran Family (Wexford Free Press) at the Exhibition, Manufacturers, Machinery and Fine Arts, 1864 at the Royal Dublin Society, and by direct family descent.
