The East India Company. Three manuscript letters from East India House to the bank Messrs. Cobb & Co., Margate, regarding the wreck of the Hindostan (1796 Indiaman), dated 21st May 1803, 26th November 1803 & 7th July 1810, each letter written by a different clerk concerning the salvaging of 100 bales of wool and the costs of disbursement, each docketed from the desk of each of the separate clerks at the East India Office, two bearing the EIC's armorial red wax seal, the one lacking holed but not without loss of MS, foolscap, (3) Condition evident from images.
A Japanese Hakone parquetry and marquetry cylinder roll top bureau, Meiji period, with an inverse breakfront cornice, the superstructure with an arrangement of pigeon holes and sliding panel doors above relief carved panels, the desk interior with pigeon holes and drawers above four relief carved frieze drawers, each pedestal with three drawers, the sides with carved hinged supports for pull out slides, 156cm wide x 79cm deep x 181cm highThere are elements of the applied decoration, cupboard doors and mouldings that have come loose. As far as I can make out the loose parts are all present. There are some splits, cracks and knocks to the woodwork including inlaid panels. The drawers are generally running smoothly, a few are a little stiff. The pull out sections to the sides are stiff. One of the side cupboards to the lower back is badly broken. Slight verdigris to metal mounts on one cupboard. Although the condition is tired it is fairly complete and would come to life with some restoration.

An Arts & Crafts style oak bookcase and desk with a shelved superstructure and an arched cornice and with an arched desk surround carved with leafy sprigs, above a desk with three frieze drawers above an arched carved apron, the sides with lattice incised panels framed by a scale carved surround99.5cm wide, 70cm deep, 174.5cm highOverall good to fair condition, circa 1890-1900. the top panel cracked to the left side but present. Small carved inset panel to right front base missing and another moulding to right side on top of desk section missing. Shelf panels a little loose. Key present for drawers, locks possibly of later date. The top of the desk faded. All over scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and use. Slight moisture mark to back of desk, no visible ring marks noted.
Mixed collectables comprising a brass desk inkwell with lion and shield finial to the lid, raised on three paw feet with three angel figures, height to lid 15cm, a small brass pin dish, diameter 16.5cm, a Royal Worcester Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II circular enamelled pot, diameter 4.5cm, a small cut glass scent bottle with silver and enamelled lid, height 7cm, and a child's wooden money box in the form of a Georgian house, height 8cm, (5).
