The desk, pedestal and chair illustrated were together in situ in articles in The Architectural Review, vol 13 no 79, March 1936 and Design for To-Day, vol 3, December 1935. Variously described as the Living Room, Drawing Room or (by Breuer) Lounge, the original colour scheme of both it and the Garden Room consisted of light grey carpet and white walls and ceiling `with a suggestion of blue`. A VICTORIAN MAHOGANY TAMBOUR ROLL TOP DESK, with baluster turned gallery, over three cavetto moulded frieze drawers, the interior fitted with an arrangement of pigeon holes flanked by turned pilasters and three shaped drawers to each side, over a pull-out writing surface with hinged stand inlaid with gilt tooled leather scriver, the lower part with a full width drawer above the panelled doors, flanking a kneehole, 140cms high x 133cms wide x 81cms deep.
