An 18th century Italian walnut Renaissance style desk box, the hinged lid with sliding centre with central Heraldic crest, opening to reveal and un-fitted interior raised on four claw feet, overall decorated with beaded and dot and line mouldings along with classical scrolls and leaves, 45cm wide, 23cm high, 32cm deepNOTE: By descent the box originally purchased by Henry Francis Lyte the poet and well known hymn writer, 1793-1847 who married Anne Maxwell in 1817 and was farther to Farnham Maxwell-Lyte and grandfather to Sir Henry Churchill Maxwell-Lyte.
