An Ercol dark stained oak five drawer pedestal desk, circa 1980, 'Writing Desk', model 696, in Old Colonial Antique colour, 140 by 76 by 72cm high, together with an ercol dark stained open armchair, 'Yorkshire Armchair', model 730A, in Old Colonial Antique colour, 60 by 53 by 110cm high. (2)
A superb tortoiseshell and silver, part leather bound Desk-top Stationery Box the cylinder-form lid lifting to reveal a cardinal red colour satin lined interior with stationery compartments and deep maroon leather trimming and pen trough, the sides and rear of the exterior similarly finished. The tortoiseshell to the front beautifully contrasting with an un-engraved cartouche and pierced scroll-work with stylised flower blooms and the lock escutcheon including a shell motif. A small detached section of scroll-work is present as is the key. 311 mm wide, 139 mm deep, 190 mm high. London 1895, Makers William Comyns & Sons.
An early 20th c. probably Edwardian, Mahogany Writing Desk having patent action, the frieze drawer activating a roll-top revealing an interior with pen trays and three small drawers below, the fold-over writing surface being inset with green leather and supported on the open drawer. A lower shelf unites the tapering square legs which terminate in spade feet. 33" x 19 3/4" deep (min.) 30" (max.) x 36" high.
