A Louis XV Kingwood, Tulipwood and Parquetry ladies writing desk the superstructure fitted with tambour doors enclosing three pigeon holes and four drawers above a fold over desk with three sliding compartments, above two drawers and two hidden drawers and on curved legs terminating with gilt bronze foliate mounts, 18th Century, 101cm high x 64cm wide x 47cm deep
An Anglo-Indian Vizagapatam and quill lap desk, with slope front, stationery compartment and velvet lined surface. Width 36.5 cm, depth 26.5 cm, height 12.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This box is in generally good condition. The rear flap has a loss to the quill work approximately 7 cm to the right of the lock escutcheon. The top hinges as it should. There is a crack to the surface front edge of the flap approximately 6 cm to the right of the lock plate. There are various ink stains to the interior compartment. The slope front has one small loss to the quill work in the centre rectangular panel. There are various cracks in the crossbanded front edge to the left and right of the lock keeper. The interior surface is generally in good order with a small loss to the inside edge of the left hinge. There are two hinge screws missing. The interior of the box underneath the writing surface is generally in good order. The sides and front of the piece are in generally good condition with only very minor scuffs and small losses. The worst damaged area is the rear left hand bottom corner which has some losses. The right hand rear bottom corner has a small loss. There is some quill damage beneath the rear left hinge.
A Victorian oak desk, with superstructure fitted with a series of drawers and with a kneehole drawer and further frieze drawers beneath the rectangular top and raised on barley sugar twist turned legs with centre stretcher. Width 115 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This piece of furniture is generally very dusty and dirty. The rear pediment is complete and intact. The superstructure is all in good condition. One knob handle is missing to the top right hand bottom drawer. The writing surface is slightly warped and covered with old ring marks and ink stains. The frieze drawers are all present. We do not have keys or knobs for the smaller drawers. The side panels are in generally good condition. The piece is structurally sound with no evidence of any repairs, woodworm or restoration.
A Victorian burr walnut Davenport desk, with rear stationary and pen compartment, with slope front and green tooled leather writing surface opening to a fitted interior, flanked to left and right by a fretwork grille, one enclosing four drawers the other a portfolio compartment, with turned front columns and raised on short bun feet with castors. Width 57 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This Davenport is in very good condition. The tooled leather writing surface is in good order. The fretwork panels to the sides of the piece are also in good condition with no losses. The left hand side compartment opens as it should. The right hand opens to four drawers which all operate as they should. We have the keys. The front panel is in good condition as are the supports. The feet and castors are all original. The back panel is in good condition. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The piece could be enjoyed in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration.
A late 19th century walnut pedestal desk, the rectangular top with black tooled leather writing surface, moulded edge and rounded corners and with recessed frieze with three drawers to either side, each pedestal fitted with three actual and three dummy drawers and all raised on a plinth base. Width 162 cm, depth 100 cm (see illustration).
