A George I style burr walnut pedestal desk, W.115cm, D.62cm, H.73cmCONDITION: The top is generally faded around the edge with veneer damage and slight bubbling to the left side, a split to the veneer to the left front corner. The central drawer and four small drawers all have damage and losses to moulded edges. Some chips and scuffing to bracket feet.
A George IV mahogany kneehole desk, with recessed cupboard, W.115cm, D.60cm, H.76cmCONDITION: The leather top has degraded, there are two horizontal splits in the timber beneath, the edge has areas of replaced veneer and lost veneer, all handles have been replaced with bakelite knobs, one appears to be missing. The left top small drawer has an area of lost timber below, the recessed cupboard has a vertical crack running through its length, the right side have two full length vertical splits to timber as does the left side also. The back panel has five horizontal veneer splits.
Measurements: 41 3/4 x 21 1/2 x 44 in. Original finish. Ball and claw mahogany slant front desk. Made in Massachusetts, likely Salem. Late 18th/ 19th c. Exceptional lines, clean dove tails. The beaded border at the top of the urn not connected. Wear to the circumference of the enamel dial. Very minor chips to the stone apparent on the verso.b, c) The pair is in overall good condition with no significant issues to report. Very minor chips to the stone apparent on the corners.
