The bottom panel of one drawer lining is a later replacement. Feet appear to be old replacements as do the back boards. Handle to the centre of the cupboard door is an old addition. All other handles and locks appear original. The fixtures to the insides of the drawers securing the handles vary. No key is present, but all locks are open. A PAIR OF VICTORIAN LEATHER UPHOLSTERED DESK ARMCHAIRSCIRCA 1850each 73cm high, 70cm wide, 64cm deepCondition Report: There are scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: The leather colour is slightly more grey in reality than the photograph suggests; the leather is supple with a patina of soft creasing overall; there are marks and scratches; some chips to the carved mahogany including to the arm terminals and along the close nailed edges; some later varnish with hints of bitumisation to recessed areas; the underside of the chairs with nailed cloth, this has not been removed and the area underneath not inspected; cracks and repairs, including to some legs, the bun foot of one leg being a later replacement; with some wear to the brown pottery casters; variable fitting to the casters.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. AN UNUSUAL GEORGE IV OAK AND POLLARD OAK PEDESTAL PARTNER'S DESKCIRCA 1825The top with a brass mounted edge, each long side with three frieze drawers above a pair of panelled cupboard doors, each side panel incorporating a mahogany slide, solid mahogany drawer linings throughout75.5cm high, 161cm wide, 92cm deepCondition Report: Desk with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. The expected old splits, chips and shrinkage cracks.Various small old inset sections of veneer. The majority of there are probably part f the original manufacture of the desk. Small amounts of filler used to the surface in places. Some minor moulding repairs. Tolled leather inset surface is an old replacement. It bears the expected wear, marks and abrasions. It has creases and raised lines along the undying joins and the gilt tooling is worn away in various areas. The brass edge with the expected old knocks and marks. Handles appear original. Locks are 19th century replacements and have 'fillets' of inset timber to the backs of the lock plates. No keys are present but all locks are open.
