An Edwardian, mahogany and boxwood strung desk style Chair, the concave tablet shaped top rail with inset rosewood panel and Classical style scrolling marquetry, above boxwood strung curling arms and a serpentine front rail, raised on square tapering boxwood strung front legs terminating in high spade feet
A late Victorian mahogany partners desk, of serpentine outline, the top with tooled leather writing surface and foliate carved edge above a kneehole drawer flanked on either side by a further short drawer each with brass drop handle, each pedestal fitted with three graduated drawers with opposing cupboard, with plinth base and raised on recessed castors. Bearing plaque to top drawer “S. & H. Jewel, Antique Furnishers”, locks stamped “Hobbs & Co., London”. Width 74.5 ins, height 30.5 ins, depth 42.5 ins (see illustration)
A late Victorian silver cased desk clock Edward H. Stockwell, London 1891, the rectangular case with rounded top surmounted by scrolled wire work and supported on a wrought wire `cheval mirror` stand, the white enamel face with red and blue Arabic numerals overlaid with gilt metal strap work, the back engraved, `Thornhill 144, New Bond Street W.`, 4¾in. (12 cm.) high.
Ian Fleming and James Bond interest - A honey oak roll top desk 1930s-40s, made by Sol Nott, a Leeds cabinet maker, the tambour front enclosing an interior with an arrangement of eighteen various pigeonholes and stationary slots, over a concealed kneehole drawer and three graduated drawers to each pedestal with central bar handles, on recessed plinth bases, 52½in. (133.25cm.) wide, 28¾in. (73cm.) deep, 39½in. (100.5cm.) high. * This desk was the property of Geoffrey Appleyard, a WW2 Special Operations agent who is believed by some to have been one of four men who became the inspiration for Ian Fleming`s character James Bond. Fleming was personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence during WW2 and in late 1941 his job was to act as a liaison between the Royal Navy and SOE, working with the Operation Postmaster team of four men, including Appleyard, Captain Gus March-Phillips, Graham Hayes and the Dane Anders Lassen before their daring raid to steal three enemy ships from the port of Santa Isabel on the neutral Spanish island of Fernando Po, off the West African coast.

An Edwardian silver desk compendium, by Collett & Anderson, Birmingham 1927, of engine turned rectangular form with central foliate bow surmount and easel back, the central attached thermometer flanked by plated clock and barometer, the dials inscribed Harrods Ltd, initialled to easel, 10.5 x 15.5cm, in fitted case Case worn. Small knocks. Dials discoloured. Surrounds of dials were plated and this has rubbed off. Dent to one corner.
