A George III mahogany kneehole desk, with applied moulded edge above a series of drawers and recessed cupboard and raised on bracket feet. Width 88 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The handles do have age but are not original. If you look at the top two short drawers you will note that space has been made for access to the lock. On the second short drawer on both sides there has been a knob handle and a hole is evident when the drawer is viewed from the rear. This does not appear on any other drawers which when viewed from the back show no other handle holes. In our opinion the original handles will probably have been attached to the front of each drawer without going right through the drawer front to the rear.
An Anglo-Indian carved hardwood Davenport desk, the superstructure carved with a battle scene and the slope front with mythical creature and figural supports, all raised on lion mask and paw front feet. Width 61 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The Davenport is in extremely good condition. It is structurally very solid with no loose joints. The superstructure is in very good order. The bottom left hand drawer handle is damaged and partially missing. The slope front is not warped. The writing leather is perished and worn. The left hand side carved edge of the flap has a 2 cm minor loss to the carving. The back panels which are all carved are in very good order with no issues. The right hand door which encloses the four short drawers is missing its original knob. The carved supports and base are all in very good order. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
