A Pair of Chromium Plated Aircraft Desk Models, modelled as a Spitfire and a Hurricane by Sgt. F Morris 540405 RAF, each raised upon a rod upright and square base with turned wood cylinder applique, 18cm, together with related ephemera **Sergeant Morris of 103 Maintenance Unit, RAF, was stationed at RAF Aboukir, Egypt during the Second World War, where he made these models. The bases are of aluminium alloy salvaged from an Italian Savoia-Marchetti SM79 which crash-landed near to RAF Aboukir and was dragged into the base by tractor. The wings of the models are made from the copper propeller blade back plates from a Gloster Gladiator which ditched in Aboukir Bay close to the shore where it was found to be beyond repair.

A German Third Reich Iron Cross, First Class, in case of issue, together a note regarding its provenance which states it was given to 2378248 Corporal (Acting Sergeant) Frank Robert Ramsden Royal Corps of Signals, by a German soldier who he rescued, at great danger to himself, after a battle in the Italian campaign; a Glass Ashtray, said to have been taken from Field Marshal Albrecht Kesselring`s desk in the same campaign (2) The Iron Cross is unmarked. The box is a little shabby on the corners. The cover is worn, but the faint outline of the medal is visible
