Ï’A group of desk items, comprising; a George IV rosewood desk tray, circa 1830, in Anglo-Indian taste, the spindle gallery incorporating a pair of handles, on lobed bun feet, 11cm high, 34cm wide, 25cm deep, together with a mahogany and inlaid planter, of small proportion, the handles on spindle supports above the tapering rectangular body with removable liner, and on gilt ball feet, 23cm high, 34cm wide, 20cm deep, and a small yew and inlaid work box, early 19th century, the lid decorated with peacock chariot scene, 9cm high, 20cm wide, 13cm deep, a rosewood standish, of small proportion, 8cm high, 21cm wide, 13cm deep, and a rosewood tray, with three-quarter gallery and brass carrying handles, 10cm high, 58cm wide, 38cm deep (5) Ï’ indicates that this lot may be subject to CITES regulations when exported. AN ART DECO DESK STAND, the cafe au lait colour marble mounted with a pair of bronzed spelter inkwells flanking a seated Alsatian, one inkwell with clear glass liner, pen recess to front edge, width 35cm x height 14cm, together with a pair of gilded/bronzed metal plaques cast in relief with Art Nouveau style female fairies representing day and night, height 32cm x 18cm and a brass pedestal ashtray in the form of a snails shell, height 8cm (4) (condition: desk stand has a few small patches of loss to the bronzing, a few chips to the edges of the marble, the ashtray is missing one of the lugs to hinge the cigarette rest)
An Art Deco engine-turned silver desk-clock with Waltham movement, swiveling on a platform stand, James Griffiths, Chester 1927, 9 x 11.5 cm wide movement running at time of inspection, overall good condition, however there is a dent to the stand, two ball feet bruised, both pillar supports slightly bent, no obvious signs of restoration, dial in good condition
Two very fine quality ivory desk seals of clasped hands design 19th century, both having melon top, one with vertical sections, the other with spiral sections, 3½ & 3 3/8in. (9 & 8.6cm.) long, together with a similar single hand version holding a column, 3in. (7.6cm.) long. (3) *Condition: All well detailed showing light surface wear or and natural fractures.
A collection of four ivory handled desk seals 19th century, comprising of a tapered and reeded version with spiral band of carved flowers, 3¼in. (8.2cm.) long; Squat baluster, 3in. (7.6cm.) long; ball topped with silver mount, London, 1862, 2½in. (6.4cm.) long; slender tapering, having diagonal rows of half beads and decorative base, 3in. (7.6cm.) long, together with a baluster bone seal (ink stained) with brass end and wafer base. (5) *Condition: Each having light surface wear and or natural fractures, bone version stained.
A Victorian burr walnut double pedestal desk the thumb moulded top with inset gilt tooled green leather, over three drawers with original turned handles, over arched panelled pedestals, the left hand with cupboard, the right with three fitted drawers, on moulded plinth bases with concealed castors, 48 x 27¾in. (122 x 70.5cm.), 30 3/8in. (77.5cm.) high.
A 19th century walnut veneered tea caddy, of sarcophagus form, with cross-banded and strung inlaid boxwood borders, flanked with ivory loop handles, centred with an ivory lock escutcheon, the hinged lid opening to reveal a divisional interior, veneered in satinwood and rosewood, with a central well accommodating a hobnail cut footed clear glass urn, flanked by inserted hinged containers, raised on ivory bun feet, 18 cm high, 33 x 16 cm, together with a three piece leather-clad desk set, comprising pen stand with inkwell, letter opener and blotter, all covered in a tooled leather, in common's green with gilded borders, and an associated picture frame (6).
A 19th century boulle work rosewood-backed desk stand, the rectangular base with swept sides intricately inlaid with cut brass with foliate and scrolling motifs, accommodating a matched pair of clear cut glass inkwells with faceted shoulders, cut caps and drop-in squared bases, flanking a central lidded shallow compartment above a pen tray to base, 34 x 21 cm.
