An account of the original purchase of this desk from the Gordon Russell shop in London, and its subsequent use as a 'shelter' in the blitz, features in the book by the vendor's father, Stowers Johnson - 'Collector's World', 1989, pp. 77-78. CONDITION REPORT: Desk - staining to the top, water marks, some scuffing to the edges. Some knocks to drawer fronts on the right. Crome ok. Chairs - one chair arm severely damaged.
