A Louis XVI enamelled gold snuff box by Jean-Baptiste Marie (fl. 1769-1788), marked, Paris, 1778/1779, with charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, later struck with two post 1864 French import marks, oval, the base and side panels enamelled in translucent caramel-colour on an engine turned ground, the cover with oval portrait plaque painted en grisaille with Joseph II (1741-1790), Holy Roman Emperor, flanked by a nude child with laurel crown and the Habsburg eagle with globe, sceptre and sword, the gold border enamelled with green leaves and chased with flowers surmounted by a bow cresting, the side pilasters hung with green enamelled swags, the frosted gold borders with twisted green and opaque ribbons enclosing pellets, 8cm (3.25") wide Provenance: Christie's London, 22 May 2001, Lot 152 (see illustration)
A late 18th Century English enamel snuff box, modelled and decorated as a crouching hare on a grassy hump, the gilt metal mounts engraved E L , the hinged domed lid with a panel showing dogs catching a hare in a landscape with windmill, framed by polychromatic scrolling decoration, 9cm (3.5") long (see illustration)
An 18th Century Round Pressed Horn Snuff Box. The central roundel decorated with a bacchanalian scene bordered with the inscription; 'My soul upon the goblets brim, Teach me this and let me twine, My arms around the Nymph divine'. The underside carved with a thistle and lyre composition. 3 1/4 ins (8 1/2 cms) in diameter.
A group of Topham family silver and chattels, comprising: i) a silver model of a thoroughbred, hallmarked London, 1866, maker's mark R.H., set on a silver-gilt circular base; ii) a silver tankard, hallmarked Birmingham, 1947, inscribed THIS TANKARD WAS USED TO TOAST THE MEMORY OF A FAMOUS SPORTING PEER, ANTHONY LORD MILDMAY OF FLETE ON THE OCCASION OF THE OPENING OF THE MILDMAY RACE COURSE BY THE EARL OF SEFTON, AINTREE, 2ND DECEMBER 1953; iii) a silver cigar case, hallmarked London, 1976, the hinged lid with a distinctive chevron design, the case set with a gilt horseshoe and inscribed GOOD HEALTH, GOOD HUMOUR, GOOD WILL, THE TOAST OF THE TOPHAM TRIO, 7TH AUGUST 1976; iv) a silver snuff box, hallmarked Birmingham, 1905, inscribed M D TOPHAM; v) a cigarette lighter inscribed FROM THE STAFF, AUGUST THE 6TH 1948, TOPHAMS LTD, AINTREE RACECOURSE; vi) a cigarette case, the hinged lid set with a watercolour of a hunting scene signed Wright; vii) a brass paperweight containing a sample of the new mains cable for Aintree as installed in 1935 (7)
A LATE 18TH CENTURY CONTINENTAL IVORY SNUFF BOX of canted rectangular form with yellow metal mounts, the hinged lid inset with a printed image depicting an angel holding a hammer and knife, crossed, of possible masonic significance, opening to a mirrored interior and two internal hinges indicating a double opening cover, now missing. 4cm x 6cm

Stewart-The Royals-on the occasion of his retiring from the service by his brother Serjeants as a token of their esteem and regard-Kamptee-1st November 1865; together with a sepia photograph of Sgt. Stewart wearing four of his medals and dated on reverse '28/4/66' and an earlier hand coloured daguerreotype in fitted case; a 'Daily Prayers' book with written inscription to his son; a yellow metal watch albert, attached T-bar swivel oval locket (with photographs) and a pencil. Arthur J Stewart died in 1910
