Large French Gold Snuff Box, oval shape with lid. Inside 18 Carat gold and with two hallmarks on the border. The inner lid gold plated. Decorated with gold and silver and gold plated ornamental and floral decorations. Two gold colours. Possibly two hallmarkson the outer side and lid. Green enamel leafs with white pearls. Six violet enamel fields. In the centre on top allegorical elegant enamel scene surrounded by white enamel pearls and gold boarder. Possibly Paris around 1770. Damages. 223 gramm. 8,2 x 6,5 x 2,8 cm.
A George III silver twin handled sugar bowl, by Crispin Fuller (probably), London 1807, of rectangular form with gadrooned rim, raised upon quadruple ball supports, length inc. handles 18cm, together with a silver rectangular engine turned snuff box, by Joseph Gloster Ltd, Birmingham 1908, length 5.3cm. (total 249.7g). (2)

This lot concludes with an unusual 19th century black lacquer box, with hinged lid and push button release, painted with a chevalier heightened with abalone shell, approx 13.5 h x 7.3 w cms and a hinged tin decorated with a classical scene, 9 x 15 cms.

18th century, Meissen (?) A very fine, erotic, gold mounted snuff box. The various cartouches with landscape and figures at leisure. The lid displaying a harbour scene with figures. The lid opening to reveal a double lid, painted inside with two erotic scenes, and underneath a portrait of a noble lady. A young gentleman caught with his trousers half down encounters two frolicking maidens. In the second scene the maidens and he have become a ménage à trois. In overall good condition. A Chinese Gilt and Black Lacquer Rectangular Box, with hinged lid and lift-out tray to interior, 27.5cm long, a XX Century Chinese porcelain teapot shaped snuff bottle, 8cm high and a Chinese rose quartz snuff bottle, 7cm high. (3)Box with heavy wear, orientation scenes to top and sides very worn, rub to gilt throughout, inside of box is better preserved. Snuff bottle with nibbles to base rim and cracks to body. Teapot appears good.

A Victorian silver snuff box, of scrolled shape with engraved design, cover engraved with crest and "Eldred Mowbray Cole, 20th June 1874", hallmarked by Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham, 1873, approx. 7.7cm wide. Weight approx. 86 grams (2.7ozt) Further details: interior not gilt and with marks, wear and scratches; exterior with surface scratches and tarnishing, overall general age related wear. Note: Cole was the Auditor-General of the Cape Colony in South Africa.

Of Napoleon interest: A tortoiseshell circular snuff box, the pull off cover inset with a gilt edged glazed panel enclosing a handwritten note reading: ‘This snuff was taken from the snuff box of The Emperor Napoleon I. after his death at St Helena by the late Admiral Lyons and was received from his widow’. diameter approximately 6.7cm. £200-£260 --- Following his defeat at the battle of Waterloo in June 1815, the Emperor Napoleon was exiled on the remote island of St Helena in the South Atlantic, where he dead on 5 May 1821. Condition Report Cracks and splits to base and cover. Panel to cover loose. Loose snuff still enclosed.
