A FINE GROUP OF SIX JADE ITEMSChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949) or earlier. The first a carving of a seated Buddhist lion holding a ruyi spring in its mouth, the stone of a semi translucent celadon tone with brown patches and veining. The second a ´fish´ pendant, with large eyes, fins, and down swept tail, pierced through the mouth and tail, the translucent stone of a pale celadon tone with russet shadings. The third a small ´chilong´ boulder, carved with two sinuous chilong amid ruyi springs, the stone of a semi translucent green tone with white inclusions to the upper part, the base with four perforations. The fourth an oval pendant carved to one side with a sinuous chilong, pierced through the center, the stone of a translucent pale gray tone with few darker areas. The fifth a black stone fragment. The sixth a snuff bottle of ovoid form, tapering towards the slightly splayed foot, the rounded shoulder surmounted by a cylindrical neck, the body carved with vertical ribs, topped by a hardstone stopper, the translucent stone of a pale celadon tone with black shadings.With a silk storage box, the inner padding fitted specifically for the present six lots.Condition: Overall very good condition with minor wear and very few minimal nicks here and there. 19th Century silver snuff boxwith floral borders and engraved with foliate scrolling designs, bearing marks for possibly Thomas Hayes, Birmingham, date mark indistinct, 7cm across x 2cm high x 5cm deep and a silver pencil holder containing a pencil bearing marks for Thomas Henry Vale, Birmingham, 1902 (2) Both in overall good condition, with some scratches, small marks etc, consistent with age and use.The pencil cover/holder with small dents in places. Some of the hallmarks to the box are quite unclear.

A French pressed burr walnut and tortoiseshell snuff box, 19th century, the circular box with cover depicting a scene of Napoleonic soldiers above the title 'Le Convoy un brave' the base with engine turned scalloped decoration, 8.3cm diameter, with a further plain example, 8.3cm in diameter, along with a horn and pewter mounted mug, (at fault) 7.7cm high (3) Condition report:The snuff box shows small chips and nibbles to the burr walnut. Minor surface scratches commensurate with age and use, but no obvious damage or signs of restoration.The other box shows a small chip to the interior tortoiseshell and minor surface scratching commensurate with age and use, no obvious damage or signs of restoration.The mug shows surface scratches throughout, the pewter mount is loose at the rim and the horn is slightly cracked on the outside at the bottom of the mug (as seen in photo). No other obvious damage of signs of restoration.

A Chinese famille rose European erotic subject snuff box and cover, Qianlong period, the flat circular cover painted with an erotic portrait of a lady in a landscape, the base painted with landscape vignettes, and figures, the underside of the lid and the base painted with a bird amid foliage, 6.6cm diameter, metal mounts lacking, crazed glaze to base***CONDITION REPORT***The snuff box is missing its European metal mounts and has wear to the gilding on the edges and the interior. The cover has a small splinter chip to the edge of the top and on the inside. The base is heavily crazed and does not ring when tapped.
