An early 19th Century yellow metal snuff box of oval form, the whole with floral medallion and striped engraved decoration, opening to reveal a painted faux tortoiseshell interior, 10.3 cm x 5 cm, 99.7 g CONDITION REPORTS All over various scratches and some nibbles to the edges. Lid does not quite fit in the corners rising up slightly especially on the right hand side. Wear to the tortoiseshell lid with yellow metal poking through in various locales. Extremely worn. Looks to have been scratched and scuffed and badly cleaned. Considerable wear. Again, wear to the bottom. The edges appear to have bubbled and chipped. Apears to have been badly cleaned, various scratches and scuffs, hinge very dirty. All over considerable signs of wear and tear. The pot doesn't sit flat and rocks when on a flat surface - suspect buckled and bent
A 19th Century carved sycamore Burns table snuff box carved with Adventures of Tam O'Shanter depicting the lines " The Carlin claught her by the rump and left poor Maggie scarce a stump", also decorated with seated dogs and fish (a reference to the Bridge over the Doon - these boxes are variously attributed to Blind Jack of Edinburgh or Glasgow or Ayrshire - certainly Scottish), 16 cm x 8 cm x 6 cm
A circa 1800 German lacquered papier maché snuff box by Stobwasser, the lid decorated with a couple in a bedroom scene, inscribed to the interior "Est-il gentil comme ca!" and no'd 437 stamped "Stobwasser's Fabrik Braunschweig", 9 cm x 6.3 cm CONDITION REPORTS Image with various scratches and impressed marks. Some crazing to the image throughout. Impact type marks also. Two corners with large chips and losses and some resulting cracks. Some damage around the hinges with various small losses. All over various scratches, scuffs and marks. Various general signs of wear and tear throughout. See images for further details. A late 18th or early 19th Century carved treen ware snuff box of figural form depicting a gentleman in long tailed coat, his hands in his waistcoat pockets, 8.8 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Piece throughout with wear conducive with age and use. Various small scratches/chips. Third button down with slight loss of wood to the left hand side. The simple hinge at the back with loss around the staples, otherwise basically sound - see images for further information

A George V silver snuff box of rectangular form, the lid with engine turned decoration opening to reveal a gilt washed interior, the base with vacant compartment for emery paper striker (by Sampson Mordan & Co., London 1930) inscribed "Patent No 275405 - RD No 728449" CONDITION REPORTS With various dents and scratching throughout, particularly to the rear left of the side of lid and dent to front edge of lid. The vacant section on base bent in towards the base which would need attention before re-use. Small split to rear right corner of lid approx half way up above the hinge - see images for further information. Gilt washed interior worn throughout. Appears basically sound though with surface scratching and wear conducive with age and use. The interior dirty, again, conducive with age and use - see images for further detail

An antique William IV Sterling Silver snuff box by William Simpson, Birmingham 1835. Of rectangular form, the lid with high relief cast decoration featuring a hunting scene with dogs and birds among foliage, within a cast foliate border, the sides of the box with reeded decoration and the underneath engine turned with a blank cartouche. Diameter 7.5cm / 3". Silver weight 91g / 2.95 troy oz.

He was born in Tilburg and studied in Antwerp, moving to Paris in 1769. Appointed miniaturist to Louis XVI in 1774, his floral miniatures set into snuff boxes became hugely sought after. In 1780 he became Professor of Floral Painting at the Jardin des Plantes. Post-revolution he was one of the first members of the Academy of Fine Arts, was awarded the L‚gion d’honneur in 1804 and the following year was ennobled by Napoleon.
