A Continental White Metal, Blue Enamelled and Cut Iron Pyrite Mounted Musical Snuff Box, circa 1900, rectangular, with plain blue engine turned ground edged with cut pyrites throughout, complete with enamelled key, the movement with small start lever to one side Appears good overall. There is a slight dent rear rim of the lid. One marcasite is slightly smaller than the others. Possible old repair? Size - 36mm long, 24mm wide, 16mm high. 210513
A Continental Four Colour Gold Snuff Box, 19th century, rounded rectangular, the lid centred by an inset oval plaque enamelled with a sprays of roses, tulips and other flowers, against an engine turned ground and repeat running acanthus leaf border, the side panels similarly decorated, the underside with high relief broad floral edge band in three colours, 7.6cm by 5.5cm by 1.8cm Numerous small hairline cracks to the painted floral panel. The applied rim moulding is becoming loose and is flexible to a light push. The lid has a high number of small dents and pin head dents, mainly visible from the underside of the lid. Bottom left angle has become misshapen, and caused the basal rim moulding to `open up` a little. Hinge good. The inside is scratched (through cleaning?) and is centred by a lozenge reserve with letters CM? Some quite heavy wear and tear throughout. 290513 weight 109.2g
A George III Silver Gilt Snuff Box, Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1812, of curved cushion form, bright cut engraved borders against matted panels, the cover chased with an Arcadian scene, initialled, 6cm long, 2oz 1dwt One corner with an old repair and loss of gilding. Clear marks to the interior and a crisp scene. 020513
A Louis XVI Three Colour Gold Oval Snuff Box, Jean-Antoine Joubert, Paris, 1782, the lid centred by a gardening trophy and a pair of doves, within a wave and dot engine turned surround and floral, leaf and jewelled border, four panels to the side and conforming underside, marks of Joubert, and also charge and dècharge marks of Henri Clavel, 6.5cm wide There is a small hole front left panel just above relief husks. Otherwise, apart from wear commensurate with age to the lid, the piece is in crisp condition. 290513
Seven Lathe Turned Elephant Ivory Boxes, 19th century, the largest a snuff box, the lid inset with a bust length portrait miniature of a young woman with elaborate coiffure, a pair of earrings and an embroidered dress with puff sleeves, 10cm diameter, the remaining six boxes (one lacking top panel) with decorative turnery throughout, the largest 7cm diameter, the smallest 2.7cm diameter Miniature box - the miniature has become very dirty, particularly on the lower half, some rubbing and losses on the upper section - the face of the sitter and hair remain good. The bottom of the base is loose and currently held on with selotape, require restoration. Remaining boxes - the largest has chips on the rim, 2nd largest has cracks, the remainder good, with slight discolouration. The taller circular section slim example has the top ivory panel missing. 290513
