A late Victorian snuff box, by The Alexander Clark Manufacturing Co., London 1898, two compartments, each with hinged cover inserted with leather mounted by white metal oval cartouches, one inscribed "Durham", the other "Aldershot", the side engraved inscription "Presented by Major & Hon Lieut. Colonel James Allison to the 3rd DLI Officers in the year 1889", with wooden panels below, 3 3/4in. (9.5cms) wide.
Stobwasser, Brunswick: a 19th Century painted lacquer rectangular snuff box, the cover decorated with Ariadne being abandoned by Theseus on Naxos, the interior cover inscribed 'Ariadne 1276' and the inside body '1275 Stobwasser Fabrik in Braunschweig', 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 x 3/4in. (8.5 x 5.5 x 2cms).
19th century Sevres style turquoise and gilded floral swag decorated porcelain snuff box, the lid hand painted with a vignette of a lady and two gentlemen suitors in 18th century dress. Blue interlaced 'L' marks to base enclosing the date letter 'P', with further hand painted gilt mark over painting a further underglaze blue mark, 8 cms x 5.4 cms x 4 cms.
