An oak snuff box, c.1831, the lid with a documentary inscription confirming that the 'snuff box was made from part of an oak beam dug out of the RUINS of the Late Custom House in Bristol...' The inscription goes on to relate the events of the Bristol Riots in 1831 when a mob protested against the Reform Laws & set fire to the Custom House & property in Queen's Square, Bristol & elsewhere.
