Rare 17th century tortoiseshell and silver mounted table snuff box of oval form, the lid with applied silver disc engraved with a Man o' War in full sail, the foreground with a gentleman on the shore, the underneath also with an applied silver oval plaque with engraved verse - 'This Sister Prince doth heartily bestow, keep it in Memory of the Love I Owe. John Gurr 1687', 10.5cm x 9cm CONDITION REPORT General overall condition good. Tortoiseshell very good for age, some surface wear and scratching but no signs of major damage or repair. Applied silver disc on cover is good, engraving is clear but slightly worn. Applied disc to base also slightly worn and dented. Hinge possibly repaired a long time ago. Clasp has been broken and repaired a long time ago
