Silver gilt Box with attached Medallion for the Order of the Black Eagle with Diamonds. The round bonbonniere in gold and the bottom with maker mark of the court jeweler J.H. Werner, Berlin along with silver hallmark "875", crown and halfmoon. The lid features attached original medallion of a breast star of the black eagle order with diamonds. The order features an applied device with "SUUM CUIQUE" and the vaulted white enamel field has diamond studded lettering to the laurel wreath along with the medallion. The black eagle in the medallion features enameled craftsmanship with guilloche orange enameled background. Probably from a breast star of a deceased Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle with diamonds. The medallion of the star has been preserved and incorporated into the bonbonniere.

In den Winkel Bandschleifen in den dänischen Nationalfarben weiß und rot. Wandungen und Boden mit feinem floralen Arabeskendekor. Auf dem innerern Rand Meistermarke "JI." ( vielleicht Karl Gustav Johansson Lundell) sowie Goldmarke "56" (14 Karat) und russische Kokoschnikmarke sowie Beschaumarke von St. Petersburg. Daneben eingeschlagene Nummer: 3027. Im Innenboden Marke: "PH 14". Diese Tabatiere war ein Geschenk von König Christian IX. an seine Tochter Maria Feodorowna, Kaiserin von Rußland (1847 - 1928), Gemahlin Zar Alexander III. und Mutter des Zaren Nikolaus II. 75 x 53 x 25 mm. Gewicht ca. 112 g. Ähnliche Stücke befinden sich in der Eremitage in St. Petersburg und der Sammlung des Prinzen Georg und der Prinzessin Anne von Dänemark (Kopenhagen und Broadfield Hall, Hertfordshire, England). Literatur: Geza v. Habsburg: Fabergé, Hofjuwelier der Zaren, S. 326. In the angles ribbon loops in the Danish national colors of white and red. Walls and bottom with fine floral arabesque decor. On the inner rim master's mark "JI." ( maybe Karl Gustav Johansson Lundell) as well as gold mark "56" (14 carat) and Russian Kokoschnik mark and foam mark of St. Petersburg. Next to it stamped number: 3027. Inside bottom mark: "PH 14". This tabatiere was a gift from King Christian IX to his daughter Maria Feodorovna, Empress of Russia (1847 - 1928), wife of Tsar Alexander III and mother of Tsar Nicholas II. 75 x 53 x 25 mm. Weight approx. 112 g. Similar pieces are in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the collection of Prince George and Princess Anne of Denmark (Copenhagen and Broadfield Hall, Hertfordshire, England). Literature: Geza v. Habsburg: Fabergé, Court Jeweler to the Tsars, p. 326. Especially beautiful and finely crafted gold box of great rarity.

Der hochklappbare gewölbte Deckel mit farbig gemalter Darstellung der attackierenden russischen Truppen bei Kunersdorf am 12. August 1759. Im Innendeckel Porträtminiatur Zarin Elisabeth Petrownas umgeben von Waffentrophäen und Bandeau mit russischer Inschrift. Die nach innen gewölbten Wandungen mit Darstellungen von einem Geschütz, Waffentrophäen sowie gekreuzten russischen Fahnen mit dem kaiserlichen Doppeladler. Im Boden Darstellung einer Trommel. Verschiedene Haarisse und kleinere Emailleschäden, insgesamt jedoch in guter Erhaltung. 30 x 80 x 58 mm Die Schlacht bei Kunersdorf fand während des Siebenjährigen Krieges am 12. August 1759 zwischen einer russisch-österreichischen und der preußischen Armee statt und endete mit einer Niederlage Friedrichs des Großen. Während preußische Emailledosen auf die Schlachten Friedrich des Großen regelmäßig im Handel vorkommen sind solche russischer Provenienz von außerordentlich großer Seltenheit. Das hier angebotene Exemplar ist das erste, das wir bisher auf einer unserer Auktionen offerieren konnten. Es zeichnet sich neben der Seltenheit auch durch die außergewöhnlich schöne Qualität der Emaillemalerei und den vor allem gemessen am Alter sehr guten Erhaltungszustand aus.Objects of Vertu - Precious Objects : Russia: Important Enamel Snuff Box celebrating the Victory at Kunersdorf with a Portrait of Empress Elisabeth Petrovna. Enamel box with fire-gilded copper mounting. The hinged domed lid with colorfully painted depiction of attacking Russian troops at Kunersdorf on August 12, 1759. Inside lid portrait miniature of Empress Elisabeth Petrovna surrounded by trophies of arms and bandeau with Russian inscription. The curved walls depict a gun, trophies of arms and crossed Russian flags with the imperial double-headed eagle. The bottom depicts a drum. Various hairline cracks and minor enamel damage, but overall in good condition. 30 x 80 x 58 mm The Battle of Kunersdorf took place during the Seven Years War on August 12, 1759 between a Russian-Austrian and Prussian army and ended with a defeat of Frederick the Great. While Prussian enamel boxes celebrating the battles of Frederick the Great are regularly found in collections and on the market, those of Russian provenance are of exceptionally great rarity. The example offered here is the first that we have been able to offer at one of our auctions so far. It is characterized not only by its rarity, but also by the exceptionally beautiful quality of the enamel painting and the very good state of preservation, especially considering its age.

A Victorian silver snuff box, of shaped rectangular form, all-over finely scroll engraved with vacant cartouche to the hinged lid, gilt-washed interior, maker Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1847, 5.5 x 3.75cm, 1.1oz Cartouche to top was possibly once engraved as it appears slightly thinner and overpolished.Otherwise appears excellent in all other aspects.
